Don't be such a compAAny queen. I do my job and most likely yours too. You have to respect yourself enough to be ready to walk, and you have to engage them where it hurts. Put the metal on the fence. Don't tell me about "my" bottom line. Military pay has surpassed my pay rate. An enlisted airman earns more with 30 years than an AA mechanic.
The tricks I have learned in over 31 years of heavy jet maintenance can easily save the company millions; or,
- if I have to work an extra 10 years to make up for your inept game changing union deals - yes yours Mr. NegotiAAtor - the result will be slower reading and comprehension skills, less caring about the customer, and less overall recollection on repair and maintenance. I will give back like you never imagined.

- You make me want to take another sick time staycation. Staying for ten more years, I won't need the extra 1000 hours, and have that much to burn. Better tell them it is cheaper to fund a 5 & 5 for about 1000 people miss. compAAny queen!

A USAF mechanic works harder, on more advanced aircraft, is better trained and more productive - They also don't get overtime and can get shot at. They should get paid more, a lot more ......

A USAF mechanic works 12 hour shifts without extra pay. A USAF mechanic actually performs work instead of goofing off and looking for ways to slow things down A USAF mechanic cares more about getting the job done than whining. A USAF mechanic goes by the book quickly. A USAF mechanic actually shows up for work and doens't pretend to be sick.

Another compAAny queen speaks. Don't tell me about the USAF missy. I did all that in spades. I did all that FOR AA for over 25 years too!

What a payback. Go flush. You aren't qualified for this conversation.

My apologies if this has already been posted, but this is unbelievable.

" During a meeting Tuesday of the Transport Workers Union committee representing the parts workers, called the stores group, a motion was made to reconsider the agreement and send it back to the bargaining table, sources familiar with the talks said.<snip> But this week, the sources said, TWU international leaders told negotiators for the stores group that their motion to withdraw support for the tentative agreement was out of order and that a ratification vote will be held as planned."

Wow, that is incredible. The union big-wigs are on a roll, and I wonder why.

They would probably do the same thing for the Mech and Related, and in spite of a large percentage of petition signatures to pull this TA.

What would Steve Louis say if Mike McDonald wrote a Vote No Letter to the memebership folks? Mike is the Local 514 VP.

If Mike is a no vote then he should write a Vote No letter to the membership because it is the right thing to do, not because Luis doesn't want him to. It didn't stop the local 565 VP from writing a letter, although my sources over there say that the 565 pres., and the intl. is rather pissed off about that letter.

It simply shows we are headed for a "without further voting/ratification/ado" scenario.

All I can say is, what a *$%#@^* racket this International is, what a *$%#@^* racket!

Why not vote to eliminate the unions altogether? Delta seems to be doing OK. At least then you will save your dues and then you can focus your complaints on the company. People always get the governments (or unions) that they deserve. The elected union is simply a mirror of the workers.

The one lesson we should have learned by now is that the Negotiating Committee should not have sole decision making when voting for a T/A.

I would reccommend local bylaw changes to reflect 2 things:

1- The president or representative at negotiations must consult with the local board before voting on a T/A

2- Recall of Local Officers (check and balances)

Negotiation Committee bylaw change:

1- Negotiation committee will not vote on T/A until fuill text language has been reviewed by the Negotiations committee and their local Boards.

2- Once a vote is made by the Negotiation Committee, Any changes made to the T/A (including language) must be
revoted by the Committee regardless of content.

Makes sense doesn't it?

For over 5 years from 1998-2003 there was an AMFA card drive in progress at American Airlines.

During this time, there were system wide informational meetings, handouts to the membership, a Local 12 Union Hall was even rented with meetings there, Videos were released. In addition there were numerous Articles written in the Local Newspapers, there were interviews by local media groups.

All the while during the drive the information about the TWU International, their over powering authority under the TWU Constitution was dicussed and documentation provided to prove these facts. How could anyone have not have heard the message is beyond me !

And today, we see many of you posting in shock that the TWU International is once again using the power sword to dictate policy as if you never heard a word being said in earlier years. Makes me wonder if anyone bothered to listen for 5 years while members were trying to tell you this problem existed, cannot be changed, and that Union change was seen as the only solution. (Sigh) That must have been 5 years of wasted money and time to be here today reading post from shocked members that something is wrong here.

Wouldn't suprise me if soon we hear that someone has a grand idea of their own. Something like "Man this union sucks and needs to be replaced"... I can just hear it now.

Great Post. 😉

I can only attribute the shock to the ever shrinking attention span that most Americans have. It's the same in politics, sports, you name it. I'm willing to bet that by the time most people vote on this contract they will forget the amount of crap that is in it because it was agreed upon 4 months earlier. Way outside the ability of most to recall.
