Inflight Service--Is the snack basket dead or dying?

Everything in that snack basket is unhealthy and fattening. I just shake my head sometimes when pax grabs 10 bags of nuts and butter cookies while requesting a seat belt extension. Why not serve something like carrots or fresh veggies instead?

First of all I would like to thank all the FFlyers and coworkers that submitted their opinions on this issue.....hopefully Management is READING and makes the RIGHT DECISION, because otherwise you will leave ME no alternative than to Keep Stirring the Pot. I have received countless PMs from several FFlyers (thank you, some of us still care and many of us are OVER the continual downgrading of the service, yet the fares a business traveller pays goes higher). Food on domestic flights is pitiful at best and now they want to p*ss EVERYONE else off over a cookie. Maybe Wolf, Siegel weren't so bad afterall  Crellin, forget-about-it!

You know what? I don't mind the ads. I wouldn't even mind paying $1 for a soda in coach. (As another poster pointed out, as soon as I read what AAEagle was doing in LAX, I thought, Tempe is all over this one). I don't necessarily mind boxed meals in FC (as long as it isn't those horrible greek scrambled eggs that they had in the summer). I don't mind plastic cups or paper napkins. What is troublesome for me is that they are stripping FC of what little it offers and charging the same fares as other carriers that are charging more. And, all the while, they are taking away significant benefits from the most FF's.

SAVE THE SNACK BASKET.....keep the interest, make it a crusade like Breast Cancer/Aids/Smokefree Workplaces/Pedophiles in the Catholic church (couldn't resist that one)....airdrop leaflets over Tempe....I'm ONLY getting started

Perhaps we should sell rubber bracelets to save the snack basket!! Are there any colors left??

Now that's an idea I didn't think of~ talk about publicity  put the "Heritage Logo" on it and I'll bet every self respecting business traveller will get to the airport EARLIER and forgo their visit to The Club just to flash it........LOVE IT!!!

I got a callback from Customer Relations (more accurately, a voicemail-back, as I was on a United airplane when he called). The rep said the catering department is "weighing the options" and no decision has been made.

This can be swung! Call in, make the voice heard that this would be unacceptable to you as a frequent flyer on US Airways! We stopped the power outlets, we can stop this too.

Again, I encourage ALL FFLyers to voice your concerns.....Management sure as heck NEVER listens to US. And I thought I saw a Light at the end of the tunnel  It appears "supposedly smart" people are making questionable decisions AGAIN. SAVE THE SNACK BASKET!

Wow. Of all things. a snack basketpost makes it to over fiv e pages. I hope Mr. Parker has a "designated reader" on this board.

that's because it really isn't about the snack basket. my impression so far is that Mr. Parker really could care less what the US1's think.

he doesn't care about fflyers, this is couldn't be more obvious!!!

While I stand behind Doug and believe he can fly this airline "together" in a better direction I have to ask, "If you strip f/c of everything, why tout a f/c product"? F/c is definately more than just a seat. Offering your MOST loyal customer trail mix and a drink out of a plastic/styrofoam cup and charging the same f/c fare as the legacies that offer more is not smart business. If Doug truly does not care about the frequent fliers he is in for a rude awakening. Long live the "Snack Basket".
