Inflight Service--Is the snack basket dead or dying?

Offering your MOST loyal customer trail mix and a drink out of a plastic/styrofoam cup and charging the same f/c fare as the legacies that offer more is not smart business. If Doug truly does not care about the frequent fliers he is in for a rude awakening. Long live the "Snack Basket".

We tolerated boxed meals. We tolerated plastic and styrofoam cups. We tolerated brown limes. We tolerated dirty seats. We tolerated dirty lavs. But, enough is enough.

The new management tells us to voice our opinions. But if a real cost saving plan to remove the snack basket is in fact underway, they are NOT going to listen to the f/a's. All the FF's must let their voices be heard. We have heard how the HP side runs their f/c. In the NE sector you cannot have a f/c product for business people that is on par with the greyhound bus. They don't pay greyhound fares. Even if they were upgraded, they flew us enough and gave their business to us to be entitled to it. As why we call them "Frequent Fliers" our "base".

What is so special about this snack basket? I've seen it, It doesn't appear to be anything other than not so healthy munchies. So why is everyone up in arms if the basket was to go away?

Let me just say this much...while you will see some reduction in some items, you may see some upgrades of different items, but you have to allow time to work this out.

The last time I checked and spoke to frequent fliers, the larger seat is the single biggest asset to them. The food is a great additon to that seat, but if you fly often enough, that tires pretty quickly as well. Yes, on longer flights a better food product is desired, but choices are limited. On HP, food is provisioned to seat capacity only. If there are 12 seats, there are 12 meals (on some flights), and that may be mixed up 6 and 6 of each choice of 8 and 4 of each choice. In the end..someone generally gets what was left.

In addition to SAVE THE SNACK BASKET wristbands, a wrapper SEND IN campaign and a convoy of Regional Jets dropping leaflets over Tempe to state our demands I have contacted the witch from the Wizard of OZ to skywrite "SAVE THE BASKET DOUGIE" along with borrowing the British National Anthem and instead of singing God Save the Queen we will harmonize in "GOD SAVE OUR BASKET" 😀 😛

Hell why not just get rid of the Flight attendents and put 2 vending machines in! OH and while we're at it let's sell ad space on the Overhead compartment doors. Oh and Floor Graphics instead of carpet.

Even the "slackers" are concerned about the SNACK BASKET. While working on their bidsheets (to find the less laborous intensive trips) they need to enjoy their beverage with an XOXO, Biscotti or multiple bag(S) of chips. And let's NOT forget about the glamour queens looking at their fashion mags or catching up on what type of thong Beyonce' is wearing or whether Janet Jackson really had a wardrobe malfunction.....important, Earth shaking Sh*T while eating one's ration of sesame mix, pretzels and butter cookies

First, I wouldn't mind the ads on board--doesn't bother me one bit.

Second, its the FA's in the front galley doing their bid sheet that bother me. The one's in the back galley are like those of us who used to smoke on the back of the bus!

an astrolounge, yes, you are right, the worst is the A who sits on her butt during a 1 1/2 hour ground delay on the 730 flight to LAS and eats multiple bags of potato chips and drinks water until she is a fish and offers no one in FC a tiny morsel....please, miss, just a tiny morsel....

Ok folks. Granted it has now been almost a year since I spent much time on US metal, but lazy F/A's were very seldom seen on my flights. I know these post were made in jest, but some how I find them mildly offensive. I'm sure the F/A's do as well and it doesn't help the cause by throwing them under the bus. Think about it.....

That is THE POINT of ALL the Grumbling and Rambling by Flyers and F/A's that care about the SNACK BASKET. Those of US in the EAST have seen countless B-A-D operational missteps on the part of management, and many of our DMile members have been treated like ugly stepchildren in the process. When this management expects me to do cartwheels over a MEANINGLESS "Heritage Logo" or foam at the mouth over a Livery that doesn't really say WOW....eliminating one of the FEW service enhancements speaks volumes.

And if you're still here after all that, you'll tolerate losing the Big Basket O' Junk Food too. And they know it. People like you aren't going anywhere. You are addicted to the miles to get the free vacation flight once in a while, or to the nonstop schedule out of whatever hub city you fly out of. Sure you'll #### and moan about losing what few scraps are left that they throw at you, but they know you're hooked. It ain't pretty.

Get a grip! True "First Class" service died at USAirways a long time ago. And if you think an airline rebuilding itself around a LOW COST model (helLOOO? "LCC" anyone?) is going to bring back an old fashioned FC with all the perks and trimmings, you are really not in touch with what is going on in the airline industry today.
