What's new

New East A320 configuration.

Huh?

Him- male
Her- female
It- item.

Items cannot interact so we cant easily x that one out.
alias king..., name Mark, so we can x out her.
that lives it with him-male gender.

Now what is it that you would like to cut off? Keep in mind TSA allows no sharp object beyond security.

Nobody here likes you. Don't you get that? And I really doubt that your trips to the Carib and west coast and flying Air Tahiti are more stressful or trying than the cumulative travel experiences of somebody who has done 150-200 flights a year for a couple of decades.

And please don't rehash your story about how you couldn't make a connection at PHL because they didn't provide your 16 year old behind with an electric cart, and they didn't hold the flight for you. Actually, maybe you should. The resulting discussion was some of the better personal bashing I've seen on FlyerTalk.

There are in bigger markets. Atlanta metro has more travellers willing to pay for the value-added services and amenities than Charlotte metro. NYCmetro has more than PHL metro.

I think that increasing presence and market share in the bigger markets allows carriers to do a few things:

1) offer seat miles at a lower cost (larger aircraft)
2) offer a more varied set of service levels
3) offer a more rational pricing system, because the carrier has relatively less need to provide bottom of the barrel fares to fill the plane (depending on circumstances) and can induce more up-buying by a larger business market.

This is the main reason why I THINK that Parker is choosing DAL to pursue instead of NW. NW and LCC, domestically, have the smaller metro markets. I think the hybrid strategy of rock bottom costs could work for a limited time for a combined LCC/NW, but would be most vulnerable to true LFC's and would be induced into adopting the most onerous, yield-management pricing schemes.

I've said all along that USAirways should focus on being BOS, LGA and DCA's hometown airline, instead of SYR, ROC and RIC or even CLT or PIT. I think that Siegel couldn't see his way to transform, physically, the old US into such a hybrid type carrier without major disruption to the structure (including employement structure) of the old US. But he was thinking bottom up. I think Parker is thinking top down. Something like this: I CAN transform LCC into the true hybrid (more WN-like) efficient operation if I'm in larger markets, but I can't compete with WN in the secondary markets.

Just musing. I still don't think the regulators will see that vision and it won't happen. just a guess.

Wasn't it Schofield who originally tried to build up DCA, LGA, BOS? Unfortunately they were using DC-9s and 737s later downgraded to CRJs and ERJs when the competition was using 757s and 767s in these limited access markets.

Whats the reason youre not on FT anymore?
Oh, and it was Air New Zealand, not Air Tahiti Nui. Air Tahiti Nui is not www.staralliance.com
Nobody likes me? That is a huge understatement.
And the electricarts? They were really for my parents, not for me?

I just flew on this beast --- and guess what?! Someone forgot to change the seatmap. I was issued 4A in First Class, Zone 1, only to find 3 rows of F. Mentioned it to the FA, he said "there most certainly is a row 4, its just not in first class" and when I showed him that I was cleared into "F" he just shrugged.

I found it a bit harder to sleep on the flight (was a "semi-red eye") as the lights from the galley really light up the cabin now. I also noticed the bulkheads were still in the old US colors - wondering why they weren't done in the "new" USAirways scheme as we've heard about.

Overall, the flight was OK, but it looks very messy, and the fact there is no buffer between the galley and F is really going to make some of our revenue "F" pax reconsider when I've never EVER had this on other airlines (with a few exceptions being United's 737-200s)

*sigh*

I've had it on another airline.... America West! Spending a redeye in 1C with the two 20 year old flight attendants in the front jumpseat talking loudly all night about celebrity gossip, other employees, pay, etc., with the galley and entry lights on. Every glare at them got a nasty look back in return. My asking them if there were any empty seats in coach where one might have a chance of sleeping was met with a snippy "We're full!"

But, it's probably all the fault of this passenger for not having a sleep mask with me... I did have on noise cancelling headphones, but that doesn't block out loud conversation necessarily.

Most airlines, including AirTran, have some level of either a galley or closet separating the galley from the F Cabin. The partition is NOT a buffer in any regards --- light, noise, chatty FA's are now much more visible/audible than before.

I thank god that the purser took a seat in 1A instead of the jumpseat (she turned the galley lights off) and the other FA went to the back during the flight.

I mentioned the reconfiguration to her and she just shrugged "Honey, they stopped listening to us in 1988... I'm just here to do my job till I can afford to retire"

:/

Hold on, you're saying theres nothing in front of 1A and 1C on the A320? So a pax sitting in 1A and 1C clearly sees the jumpseat? What about audio and video? Or is it like the HP A320 where there is a thin wall?

There is a thin wall that goes almost to the aisle, but it has a gap of a couple inches at the top between the wall and the overhead. A small monitor that protrudes is mounted on this wall. It's relatively useless to block light and sound unless you are horribly disfigured to the extent that your face is about stomach level. Even if there were a curtain across the aisle, the gap between the "wall" and the overheads combined with the overhead galley lights allows light to shine in the faces of passengers.

Pretty much an HP A320. Thanks for the explanation.

Also, just spoke to Kirby. The Row 1 will stay on the 330, however the 757's to Europe will only have 6 Envoy. I might as well add that to this seat thread.

I just looked over the US inflight newsletter for December 06 and it shows the new A330 reconfiguration. Row one WILL still be the sleeper seats. As for the 757 I thought it was to be twelve. I would NOT be surprised if it were the eight just mentioned. I can't wait to see how they butcher the A321. I bet the closet goes at the 2R door goes buhbye. Just look at how our D j/s is at the 2R door on the recently purchased 757's. They are attached to a damn box on the floor. Hell why not give that f/a a passenger seat and save the money. It's all about the money. 🙄
