What's new

New East A320 configuration.

At last I know what's wrong with this airline Kirby is getting his advice from a 17 year old with a direct line.

But let's give credit where credit is due. The 17 year old has a working website.

I will say, that the last 2 comments are inded quite amusing and funny.

And yes, my website has not had any time outs or errors. Maybe they should buy hosting from StartLogic like I did for a mere 4.95/ month? They could use the rest of the time to actually take time and make a better website.

I am avoiding the A320's at all cost as the 757's. Besides 26F>16F, I am not too worried about A321's Y as Tempe,AZ has never dealt with 321's so they wont sabotage them that much.
Clue phone time. The 321s are going from 26 to 16F, and that means a bunch of extra weight. All that extra weight means this already-overloaded pig won't be able to fly transcons at all.

They've already stripped every single A321 off the SFO-PHL routes. Just 1x 319 and 2x 320. That's a grand total of 36 F-cabin seats between the second-largest metropolis on the West Coast and US Airways' international hub. That's a joke. A bad one, at that.

Heard an interesting tid bit from the "A" flight attendent on my trip last night.

She said there was a memo circulating about that said the 320 reconfig was "Temporary". The reason apparently that it was "temporary" was due to "Customer Feedback" regarding the coat closet and overhead storage situation.

As for our colleague Kinglobjaw have you ever pondering exactly WHY you were given access? Here's a teeny tiny hint from a guy with a few (thousand)grey hairs and a rolodex full of CCY numbers.

When I said nice things about US in the media or FT or here it was amazing the access I had. When I became highly critical after the Christman Meltdown it was AMAZING who had forgotten I exist.

Access come with a price King, are you sure you want to pay that price?
With regards to the A320, true! From our company mail (12/21/06):

"In order to take immediate advantage of this opportunity, the forward closet is being removed from the A320 fleet in order to install the additional seats. The removal of these seats results in a temporary relocation of emergency equipment. As a result, the emergency equipment is currently being relocated into the forward overhead bins, aircraft left... We recognize that this temporary reconfiguration is not in the best long term interest of our passengers. ..the Company is finalizing necessary approvals to position the emergency equipment into a single forward galley compartment...."

That help?

That is absolutely correct IT. The closets on the airbus 320 are gone and I highly doubt they will be back. Still other a/c types out there with closets....Look for more closets to go I'm sure and less f/c. Hello the 737. That seem like a likely target to anyone else? The west sides 737's have 8 seats I believe and your 1A/C seats are wide open correct?

Oh god, no, only 8 seats? Seriously? Here we go again......

Well, they will certainly be getting some "customer feedback" from me after my first transcon on one of these "enhanced" birds on Saturday. Even if I don't clear into F I will be sure to mention how seat 9C went from endless legroom to "geez, I can't even open my laptop"!!!!

I just flew PHL - LAX and hit turbulance, the captain came on and said we were too heavy to go any higher so we would stick it out for a shor time, I guess with the extra Y seats we will just be driving to our destinations!

You also could have been heavy because of the fuel load. Winter is the worst time of year to go east-to-west. Do I surmise that the turbulence was east of the Mississippi?

In 11 years I have never had a to stop on an Airbus for fuel! Sounds like the seat configuration is costing more than they planned. What worked for the West doesn't work for the East. Sorry.

The 321's have been like that every since they arrived, built for stuff like PHL-florida US decided to spend millions to make the 2L door bigger for the use of a jetbridge then discoverd it was not going to work because of the engine proximity and also spent more $$$ for extra fuel tanks so that the pig could fly transcon. Does anyone remember when the 321 flew to LAS and all of the delays and issues when taking off from LAS, always had to take-off to the East and sit and wait for hours for the clearance or take off to the West (like normal) and stop for fuel in MCI or STL, that didn't last for long but what a cluster. I can't imagine those things doing transcon after they put even more seats in. Maybe they will redeploy them on PHL/CLT/PIT-florida and PHX-westcoast/midwest and put more F on the 57 and use it where it belongs.
