NEW ROUTES---Announcement When/Where

Travelpro72....

We run into issues when we swap equipment types all the time. When we sub from a 767 to a 757 that definitly causes problems because of the change from 24 F to 8. But those events are veyr uncommon. But, when you are in fleet, 757 to 757, then it is more liekly that you will have issues because of MTC needs for the airplane fleet. Certain checks are done in specific stations and would lead to airplanes being unable to fly a specific routing over an extended period.

An example of that is the sub fleet types that we have now or had previously. The B733 fleet used to be sub fleeted with long and short range airplanes. The good thing was that the airplanes seat configuration was the same on both. The same holds true for the A319 and the over water A319, the B757 and the B757 overwater, the B734 long and short range and overwater. If you are going to change configurations on the 757....then make it something that you can live with domestically and internationally. I like the idea of 16 F seats, but don't agree with adding Envoy seats. I am sure we have F seats hanging around somewhere. Heck add the ones that we took out the first time. If you do it....do it to ALL of them....East, West, Domestic, International.

Yeah I agree with you totally. It streamlines ops from booking, to the agent to the plane. Look at all the time wasted and trying to working things out to make things fit, and it would eliminate the chances of upsetting the passenger on that issue. And that issue is a major one. having just 8F seems a bit small and 24/26 too large. 16 should be suffiecient.

Has happened to me--learned at the gate and was placed in a middle seat in the back and had paid a full Y fare ticket.

I think you are right, MMW, better not to do Envoy. I also don't think that they should do 16 seats on those planes. Keep it at 8. How many US1's are on a TA flight to these cities...

I hear what your saying about the a/c planning thing. I feel that the 757's should not get Envoy seats but adjust the f/c to match for the entire fleet. It makes things much easier. Now with the new management I can only hope. Easy and practical was not in the old managements vocabulary. The a/c needs more seats than 8 whether int'l or domestic. The a/c can then be used domestic during the off season or to the carribean yet stay common to the other 757's that are not ETOPS certified. We shall see.

Hey I have ideal less get some seats that turn into First Class seats. All we have to do is change them every flight. Sorry I am on a pass bad management kick. A4coach
