NEW ROUTES---Announcement When/Where

If you guys have the time and money, come to Stockholm this summer...
One word/ LADIES !!
That was off topic sorry 😀
Now...A question, Will there be any codeshare with SAS?

This makes me nervous when you say that. Have you seen the film Hostel, yet? I've been looking sideways at Europeans since! 🙂

l8rd8r,

The short answer is no - not till the A350's arrive. Looks like PHL-NRT is about 5000 nm (nearly 5800 sm).

I think I mentioned it in passing way back when the A350 order was announced, but one of the interesting things in the specifications was the range requirement. Instead of just giving a number, they gave city pairs. PHX-NRT was one of them and I think PHL-NRT was included also.

Don't know if that means anything or not.....

The A330-200s should be able to handle PHL-NRT (and easily PHX-NRT), though it's obviously a bit small for Japan and US only has enough on order to replace the 762s.

Airbus lists the range for the 332 at 6750 nm, and the 358 at a whopping 8800 nm. (Although it also lists the 333 at 5650 nm, which sounds like *way* more than US gets out of it, though that's likely partially due to US having the crappy PW4168A engines on its birds, while other engine manufacturers offer 73,000 lb engines for the 333.)

Northwest uses their A330 200's and 300's to Asia so it must be possible. Now if we could only get some "big" birds on the property sooner than 2011. Things seem to be happening so who really knows.

😳 Sorry, color me wrong.....

Thought that the 330 had about a 5000 mile range.

NW only uses the 332 to Asia; their 333s only go to Europe.

Again, I'm sure Airbus is overstating their range figures. (I know I've heard plenty of stories on here about PHL-FCO taking weight hits and blocking seats or whatnot.) By how much, I couldn't tell you, but it does seem very likely that the 332 could pull off PHL-NRT.

Thanks for trying to cover my mistake, but MSP-NRT is longer than PHX-NRT, so if NW can use A332's we should be able to. I'd just forgotten that NW was using them over the Pacific.

The only thing I can think of that might make a difference is the summer temp in PHX.

Oh there's no question about PHX-NRT working, it's PHL-NRT that would depend on what the "real" range of the 332 is.

I don't think there are any 333 pilots here, are there? I'd be interested to know what the "real" range of that is for US.

I'd kill for a PHX-NRT or TPE or HKG flight.

I was at the disaster of a stockholders meeting where Ed and Mike unfurled the flags of Taiwan and Hong Kong to be served with our 19 year old, shedding parts, 747's.

Can the A350 do PHX-BKK or KUL non stop?

Airbus has to start building them first.

SNN and GLA will use the 757 from June , has been loaded into the system

Doing a quick search of NWA, they fly the 332 from PDX-NRT which is 4,814 miles.

Could not find the 330 going anywhere esle from the US to NRT.

I cant get excited about new European service. Its going to
mean more destinations you CAN'T reroute to when PHL groundstops set in or one of our illustruous express operators decides they cant find an airplane..you know (LX ADJ...sound familiar PSA?) and more European baggage claims to take because of CRJ weight restrictions. Its not that I'm a negative person, I'm just being a realist

Oh, but as the know it alls will tell you...it only makes sense...originating traffic..blah, blah, blah....but NOBODY ever can provide numbers on revenue LOST because of the Philly factor when your largest hub in CLT actually works.

But what do I know? I mean, it would had been MY first choice to put 8 seats in the 3 757's going to Europe. I am REALLY questioning this new leadership.

Maybe the 190 can make it to SNN or GLA. At least they will have 11 FC seats...
