OCT/NOV 2012 US Pilots Labor Discussion

I think the company has gone over all this and intends to kick the can down the road as far as it will go. From recent statements they appear to be content to let PHX wither on the vine. they have enough excess now to let it go several more years with no hiring over there and still not affect any fleet mins or block hours. In the mean time they are content to hire on the east and seem to be telling the east new folks that they can expect rapid upward movement.

I figure with the wests stance of no compromise that the west furloughees that accepted east positions are going to upgrade before most of the west will. If the 5 to 7 years they seem to be telling the east newhires is correct, that is probably 3 to 5 years for the west transplant furloughees.

Nice payback for the pay parity. No upgrades western div. for maybe a decade. Ouch. Dave O'Dell has better prospects now. Your keystone to your Nic. scam was O'Dell, now the eastern div. has him as exhibit A. That is not looking good.

The east can litigate but I believe that Judge Silver's ruling makes it an extreme uphill battle for you to even attempt to negotiate off of the Nic.

Really? I believe you must have meant that the union can freely negotiate, not litigate. 😉 Any/all subsequent litigation is entirely your problem and good luck with it....you would need it.

"Moreover, USAPA and US Airways are now engaged in negotiations for an entirely new
collective bargaining agreement and there is no obvious impediment to USAPA and US
Airways negotiating and agreeing upon any seniority regime they wish."

Yet daddy had to get you a job and you feel entitled to take mine.

Wrong again genius. My Dad didn't "have to get me a job." I was fully capable. What he did for me, by being a trusted employee and moving my family 6 times before I got out of high school was to give me an early OPPORTUNITY. I felt entitled to nothing, I felt honored to be given the chance at an early age. Be careful with those words. We have a manager here that was hired at an earlier age than I was.

I don't feel entitled to your job. I don't want your job.

Wow! Harvard! I guess a teenaged boy would be hard with all those smart, pretty girls around. Must have worked a lot of hours as a lineboy to pay that tab. So hard working, so motivated, so smart. Yet daddy had to get you a job and you feel entitled to take mine.
Parker took your job. Sounds like a serious bunch of years of no growth, no upgrades. Nobody on the eastern side wants anything to do with your side. The attrition is going to carry these guys on a high tide for years to come. That Nicolau was Pandoras Box. You NEVER should have opened it.

I know you don't want their job. It is them, wanting yours.

We're not doing this thing over. Get that through your head.

The more times the West chooses to refuse to be involved in the process the more clear it is that USAPA did everything they could to help the West help themselves.

When this is all over don't forget the many times the West berated the East for not working with Mr. Nicolau after he told both parties to go back and return with more options to help him out in his decision.

I have noticed just the opposite. Pilots that are second generation, or third in some cases, have a unique appreciation of how the airline world works. They don't expect upgrades in 4 years, they don't let mergers worry them, they plan ahead financially for hard times in the industry and i have yet to hear one say "I should have been a Captain x number of years ago"

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present another wonder kid...

Can someone please tell me where the term "legitimate union purpose" is found in accepted DFR standards? First time I heard it was from Wake, and now from Silver. I am asking.

Greeter

I've wondered the same thing. Was thinking that some the legal eagles would post some legal presidents.

Is O Dell a West working East now?

Pre, let me ask you a few things.

When you were hired at AWA do you think there were any other applicants that were older than you? Any with more time? Any more intelligent? Any that had worked harder, through tougher circumstances than you?

If you answer yes to any of those questions then the real reason for your diatribe is that you are just jealous. That I was MORE lucky than you, because for most all of us an element of luck and or timing was involved.

I agree. There have been many opportunities to work this matter out, but I don't see anything but an end game. There have been several roads we all could have taken to get this thing together and get a joint contract. Seems we are destined to be separated until other events overtake all of us.
I did see the crew news, and it honestly looks bleak for PHX with regard to any movement for a while. If that is acceptable to you guys, then keep pursuing the Nic. and I believe Parker will play dumb until he needs to move, and then he will at the speed of heat.
It is merely a bargaining position, and not binding. I have been saying that for years. There is no way you can force any union to take a mandated bargaining position they do not want with regard to seniority.

Wow! Harvard!

Yet daddy had to get you a job.....

1) Not the worst school out there really...but...I suppose you have that beat, especially with your impressive record that resulted in twice failing admission to med school(s)?

2) So then: How did you get your Guard slot?....Certainly not from knowing anyone of course, but purely on your effervescent wit, charm and personality? 🙂
