AWA thought they would never fly that plane, and had no problem voting for the low rates. Most of the East thought they also would never fly it. So far…..West was right, East was wrong.

If I remember correctly, the prevailing west thought wasn't that we wouldn't fly the plane, but rather that we would get the pay where it should be on the next contract. The thought was to first make sure mainline flew the airplane, as opposed to someone else, then get the pay right. Of course we all know where that process is.
