Come to think of it I think you may be right about HP being modeled after PEOPLExpress. My first flight on them was I think June of 85. I remember paying onboard and the woman boarding behind me had no shoes on and her children had dirty faces. Yeah....thats about right. Not far from what I see today on some flights. It just leaves ya like

A combination of ideas were used in the formation of America West. Cross-utilization of employees, brought to new extremes by PEOPLExpress, would be a major feature of America West. Pilots would also work dispatch, while Customer Service Representatives (CSR) would work as flight attendants, ramp agents, gate agents, ticket agents, or reservation agents - depending on the day.

If that happens 90% of us will be unemployed within a few years.
Its the only thing that makes sense with all the shuffling going on lately.. The Writing is on The Wall...Ur absolutely correct. Im ex-TWA look what happened to STL and MCI..The same will happen to CLT PHL and PHX...Were So Screwed

While American is indeed a great airline, their track record in mergers would give pause to any employee of a carrier taken over by them.

OR.........you all could do your jobs to the best of your abilities, provide the best customer service you can with the resources alotted, maintain a positive attitude, try be industry leaders in performance benchmarks, and work every minute of every day like you are trying to save your job and all of your co-workers jobs.......

Let's put it in perspective...senior management will make millions whether or not you guys stand-alone or not...in fact, they will probably make more if they merge the carrier. The best way to prevent a merger is to make the airline as profitable as possible....profitablity leads to job stability leads to no golden parachute, leads to better negotiating position for union contracts.

Stop allowing yourself to be the joke of the industry....it's sad that a crappy carrier (AA) would view you as a last resort. Have some pride people. The current size and route structure of US can be extemely profitable. You don't need Attache or Glassware or cattle call boarding to have a well run airline. Just do your job to the best of your ability, and if that's not something your willing to do, please quit as there seem to be plenty of people willing to take your place.

Management should have paid me for that, but really it comes from a long-time passenger and a "numbers guy" who truly wants US to be around for the long term for a variety of selfish reasons.

The big deals going on have nothing to do with the front line.

The front line isn't the cause, but they do get the effects.

Ah, a "Numbers guy". Isn't that a large part of the reason why the airlines as a whole are in the blue water these days? The "Airline Guys" that used to run these various carriers have been replaced by "Numbers Guys" and the focus has shifted from the passenger and the service to the almighty bottom line.

On a sort of related note, anyone know where Doug Parker was yesterday? I was out in front of the AA terminal at LGA yesterday afternoon and the guy that hopped out of a big Suburban with ID's hanging on a lanyard looked remarkably like him...

Doug Parker was blowing off the Secretary of the US Department of Transportation and the Future of Aviation forum.

With what happened to TWA workers at AA what did the law change? If there were a merger what would the possible outcome actually BE for all employees, namely US f/a's. Hmmmmm
