QIK on SABRE..

As a recent convert from SABRE to SHARES I have been using QIK since day one and find it easy to navigate. It took very little training to get me started on QIK versus what it took to learn native SABRE. Now that I am comfortable with QIK, I have started to learn the native SHARES entries. There is nothing that I could do in SABRE that I can't do in QIK, it is a matter of finding the right keypad.

Give it a chance.....and use it as much as possible if you are able. Once you are proficient at it, then you can learn the native SHARES entries.

What someone said earlier is very true. It's just a matter of learning to navigate thru the menus. All it takes is a little practice and soon you'll be used to it. Everyone on the East side hated Sabre (well, not everyone...I didn't) but after they got used to it they liked it. But it really doesn't matter whether anyone likes it or not...they're going to have to learn to use it. Sabre is going to dissappear after the first of the year. You might as well learn it prior to that. You'll be glad you did...

Shift Q will give you a popup of all of the Ctr-Shift-ALT keypads. And I think you can use Shift-N to get a native shares popup--I'm not sure if there is a popup for Sabre.

Shift+N is actually a box to enter native SABRE entries..That is, if you're running QIK-on-Sabre like USairways east is right now.

I dont have a problem learning QIK, I just wish it would do more things, and do them better.
Today the system (for some unexplained reason) would only issue SSTs in Canadian Dollars, then it came back that it couldnt issue tickets in the US in CAD, so if you did cash it took (showing the CAD equivalent) if you did it with a CC, it wouldnt take. Sabre to the rescue again.
One of the agents called the support desk and they "filled out a ticket on the problem", meanwhile you want to pay in loonies, eh?

Anyone out there know the easiest way to pre-reserve seats for families? In native Sabre you can pull a group(more than 2 in a pnr) list two days in advance and pre-reserve the seats together while there is still seats on the map. If there is an easy way in QIK sabre to pull a group list and the pre-reserve the seats, I haven't found it.

Its been a couple of months since I escaped, umm, I mean placed back on the US side of things so I cant remember without using the keyboard how to prereserve. I will play with it today and write the entries down and get back with you. I remember in advance you can do it in the record (CTRL S) as long as there are N seats, but once they are gone, its 24 hours before, then I think I did it thru the CTRL G key. I'll post back tonight if I can remember to write it down.

I can't...wait for QIK.

Can't believe that AWA agents can't seat assign point to point for upgrading Preferred.

For example ..Point A to Point C going thru Point B(the hub)if the seat isn't available to A from C in First..they're at a loss what to do..Just sit in the seat and then move back to coach..sir

This is going to be a long road to ....when's the next merger.

please do not lump all of us AWA agents in one pile...your old timers-lol-know what to do and how to do it. The problem is we hire anyone. We then train them how to push buttons-not like the old shares system where we would all be carrying around a backpack full of notes/cheats. PM me if you need to know what to tell the agent to do next time.

You know it's really kinda' funny how the folks on the east side were during the transition from Pacer (Piedmont's old system) to Sabre...everyone whined and moaned "this is too complicated...too many entries...we hate it!" Now they're saying that they LOVE Sabre and think that QIK has too many steps and too many menus! We humans just resist change. We don't want to leave our comfort zone. I've been trying to remind everyone that, just like they did with Sabre, they will learn QIK and think it's great eventually also...

Sabre has been updated many times since the cut over from Pacer. The system entrees were there US didn’t want pay for them.

OK, remembered to check it out and get the right keys for you.

Go to Ctrl L (Lists) and F2 choose option RS (Requiring seats). This will list everyone who still needs to reserve a seat. You just have to look and see who is booked in groups since it will show number in party here.
Then you can pull up their records individually Shift R, get record and CTRL S F2 to preseat in record. Be sure to F11 the record to end it.
Other option and when its less than 24 hours to dept to get the held seats is to go to CTRL G F10 option 3. This will let you prereserve without having to be in the record and you can give out the V seats at this time if needed. This entry is also good if you need to move someone who is prereserved in order to get a family together or assist. Just go to this entry and there is an option to change prereserved seat. Just change the N to Y when you enter the new seat number.
Hope this helps.

That is so true and we saw that at HP when we went fron native shares to QIK, the newer people jumped all over QIK and some of the old timers went kicking and screaming. I think East has so many old timers plus a regional attitude about change that is making some of this more difficcult.

First day of class it's easy to learn
but it is slower than sabre

When HP had/has a complicated and involved problem they did and do use native shares.. For more involved usage that use native shares. QIK is just that quick usage

If QIK is so great, why does it take 5-6 people to work a full flight, and with the "Load Master" helping...and we can do it with 2 people using Sabre.
After 30 years and about 6 different systems, I think we can manage to learn QIK. Reminds me of DOS....with a color screen.

The question really is...does Doug have a clue about how bad we are operationally. I bet he'll be sorry he ever listened to Big Al..
