Service Adjustments

It seems that the fomer HP people just don't understand--no offense--but, you are not familiar with the product. The old US did a terrible job marketing, and despite this, people in PHL, particularly business people, know ENVOY. The name sticks and people know what it means. Even people who rarely fly, know what ENVOY means on US. I think it would be a big mistake to get rid of the name.

I don't like the generic way--and it seems that is what HP management likes--isn't their magazine the name of the airline--keep the Attache name. It does have meaning to people in the East.

Botton line people will understand Business Class instantly... Envoy Class is not as recognizable.

I don't know why we get our panties into a wade over things we have no control of.

You are right--but, let's hope when they market the new name in the East, they let everyone know that the standards are not being lowered because of the name change.

Actually it is now official...thanks to an FA who PMed me...Business Class is the new name and Spinzels will replace pretzles. She said it can be found on thehub under Flight Crew in the Oct Monthly Product Highlights.

I still dont understand how dropping the "Envoy" name will save a single dime?!

Well, it was a "Wolf-ism." That being said, if you're keeping the name "Attache" for the magazine, why not keep "Envoy."

Actually, I have a feeling that this rebranding of Envoy is all about lowering premium service expectations.

The name "Envoy" conveys premium travel. US Airways has already built a very strong brand on the East coast with the Envoy name and there is no need for the name to be dropped. If anything, the brand should be built in the West coast to become synoymous with US Airways. They even wrote on the FA memo that the name change was to be consistent with US' Airways transition to becoming recognizeable as a LCC. Read into that however you want to....

I have a feeling the current managment (who had no experience with Intl Premium traffic while working at HP) will slash the product even more than the current management team. I can envision (my guesses only):

1) Removal of Row 1 Seats when AC gets these brids in for heavy maintenance
2) Closing of the PHL Envoy Club (directing pax to the standard US Airways club)
3) Downsizing the Envo...uh "Business"...cabins on the 330s.
4) No upgrades to the 767s
5) Meal service that resmebles HP transcon to streamline catering costs (think, single tray Chicken Caesar...).

  🙄

if that is the case, LF and BA will increase their market share of Business Class customers out of PHL. Doesn't the *A have minimum standards for J class? I remember I flew Envoy a few years ago at its lowest point--with the whole *A transition and then they upgraded it because of *A requirements. It is so much better than it was at that point.

Envoy means:
n.
1. A representative of a government who is sent on a special diplomatic mission.
2. A minister plenipotentiary assigned to a foreign embassy, ranking next below the ambassador.
3. A messenger; an agent.

I had to look up "envoy" to verify what it really does mean...

When Regional Jet Siegel came in he brought the service down to an apalling low from the high standard they'd had before. This is the man who introduced Dave's Donut (it is actually called that.) By the way, CLT crews- please stop heating them, it's a nice thought but it really just burns a plastic taste into them. And who can forget the "snack basket" of amenity items! "What would you like today, a toothbrush or an eyeshade?" Passengers actually laughed, thinking it was a joke!

When US was being brought into Star Alliance, the bigwigs from Star were not impressed. They laid out four phases and a timeline for what they required (still less than what US previously had) and it was achieved in under a year.

I'm sure the execs do not want to lose the *A affiliation, so I doubt they will let the amenities/service deteriorate.
In the HP onboard merger video and inflight announcement (not sure about the gate announcement) they make a point to mention membership in *A.

Maybe they will decide to call it "Group of Codesharing Airlines" instead of using the brand Star Alliance.

FF'ers need to remember that we could have a plan that is fare class driven and we don't.

Employees need to remember if not for HP the Airline would likely have failed.

Have I seen things that have raised my eyebrows? YES but on balance they are positive.
[post="306372"][/post]

sure, but when's the last tiime you paid $1700, or even $800, for a domestic ticket? are you saying that these types of fares won't be seen anymore? i'm not trying to be nasty, i'm just saying that when you pay premium fares, you expect premium service.

Rumor has it that the "Envoy Class" name will disappear sometime next year...the transatlantic J class cabin will simply be called "Business Class".
I've also hear rumors that we will be serving Spinzels onboard as a replacement for the Snyders pretzles once stocks are depleated.

Any truth to these?
