Why not just take the new DL-NW contract to management, without any changes? I'd be curious to see how they react.

Yeah....that's the licket....let's see, hmmm. Let's call it Parity Plus 1%!

I'll take it!

Sure, if revenues were comparable...thats a safe call.

Revenues are NOT comparable, therefore expectations can't be either.

LAS was just practically shut down...and Parker has deemed PHX a leisure market ( a la LAS) indicating that revenues and margins aren't there.

That leaves just ...no wait...it can't be!

the East system
the EAST revenue
the East profitability
the EAST workgroups who make LESS than the West...and who generate the $$$$

how far do you guys want to discuss this one?

Who carries who?

end.

It's obvious at this point that without the merger, HP would have been toast. Parker can't stop talking about how PHL and CLT are the crown jewels of the airline. Yet, PHX and LAS have been pegged as leisure markets that do not generate much, if any, profits.

Yes. Even Parker has openly and publicly acknowledged that , by now...and for sure...HP would be gone.

So would USAirways..

The MERGER of the two allowed both to survive until today.

The revenue streams from each are now a matter of record.

we are ONE airline now....

The revenue from the East is and never has been in question by management...

The East pilots make less than the West, yet the West contributes less to the bottom line.

These facts are unchallenged by any meaningful source.

West pilots are non-participatory in the new bargaining agent for the airline pilots...yet they wonder where their contract is, and what raises and big airplanes they'll get to fly....

thats funny.

They'll find out just how funny if things don't improve...more furloughs from the "unprofitable routes" as determined by the 'revenue and planning guys" (according to Parker)

Hmmm..wonder which side those might be from.....

(more expensive + less production = west pilots)

wanna cry about a contract some more?

If the revenues were comparable, then, would the airline size not be important?

I think what you meant to say was, if the revenue compared to number pilots (for instance) were similar, then yes.

The fact that management decided to court the leisure market should have nothing to do with whether one's pay scale is more or less than someone else. One hour of captain pay should be similar, whether they carry a CEO or a kettle. Management will be happy to have you think otherwise. They love to attack your self-esteem, leaving more money for their own pockets.

what happened, Barberpole?

I thought we might have a "prayer meeting"

No?

hmmmm...

Thought so.

What is the color of the sky in your world? This is past history and old news get over it! If your crown jewels are so profitable why so many trips to BK courts? I wish I could be in your crown jewels Sept 1 and listen to all you guys say CACTUS. Priceless

Not as "priceless" as April 17th

I don't work for US, so quite honestly I could care less about this East vs. West nonsense.

Having a new call sign is change and change is difficult for some. The former Piedmont pilots and PSA pilots adapted just fine, but I am sure it was an adjustment that took patience on their part.

I am watching an NFL Green Bay Packer game without Bret Favre, baby steps.

For those of you who have trouble accepting change, I have added an ATC recording below to help your adjustment to your new radio call sign.

To hear the new cactus call sign used in actual ATC conditions, click here.

X files...heck, that sounded like the openning scene in Close Encounters.

None of those things are important to trade unionism and because pilots don't get it, it is why unionist like the longshoremen working on the docks make more than pilots. The pilot profession ceased to be a trade union a long time ago and is shouldn't be any wonder why the job is in the toilet.

What pilots don't get is that we're suppose to watch each others' back, not stab each other in the back.

The A scale pilots threw the B scale pilot under the bus. When management came after their paycheck they couldn't understand why we wouldn't march to the edge of the cliff with them.

Now USAPA is trying the thrown all the West pilots under the bus. Truly shameful.

The transition agreement is governing (news to you in your world, I know). Minimum fleet counts cannot be changed so if Parker wants to shrink more of the Phoenix hub (since USAir is no longer able to compete against Southwest and other true low cost carriers due to the high costs of operations we now have) he will have to park airplanes he is paying leases on. No way around it. Thank god for the bright legal counsels of Leonidas and AWAPPA- they have done a wonderful job protecting the west pilots from our own "union" thus far.
