What's new

UAL A&p's and related have a T/A

you forgot to tell them bob how long we have been without a contract, and we are going no where and mediation is not helping and the company is just loving it

also this T/A is just a transition contract. are you getting more or less?

Birdman you are 100% correct. AMFA does have open nego. and has one of the best communications avenue to the members. I personally have sat-in many negotiations. AMFA does in fact take all suggestions from the observers during caucusses. And in fact applies them to the company thru negotiations and the company has no idea it came from the observers. We have items in our contract that actually came from observers, wow, go figure, thats how participation works at AMFA.
Whoop-Whoop you are laso correct. Why the UAL boys went from AMFA to the teamsters is beyond me. However, from what the guys are saying now is that the teamsters promiced all kinds of stuff, but once again, after they got in there nothing has materialized, typical teamsters. If you guys were still AMFA this topic would'nt even exist, because you all would have known before the company did what was being offered AND what the company was countering. This is what is so great about AMFA COMMUNICATION...
When you have to beg your union about the offers; it's time to get rid of them and get AMFA back in. The teamsters are trying to get back in at SWA but all their goons that are showing up to peoples houses to drum up business are leaving with their tails between their legs. We are much, much more happier with AMFA here, too bad you guys didn't stay AMFA, cuz you guys would be more than informed-you all would have known exacally what all the offers were gonna be for all articles prior to starting negotiations. Sorry but i blame the membership at UAL for believing the teamsters and voting them in. Shudda stayed AMFA boys!!!

Back to T/A

I have heard rumers. I read some highlights. It looks like they bought 1000 votes from the jetshop. Oh that
is where some of the IBT guys came from.

VOTE NO

For those wondering how the IBT got in it's simple. They had the money to knock on doors and make empty
promises. A couple of those guys now make twice what a UA AMT makes and they have a pension.

May I ask what the offer is from UAL, as far as the numbers are concerned? I do know that the TWU at AA is going for the numbers at SWA. I think by the time they get their contract, we will be negotiating ours again in 2012. The company, in my opinion, will be asking for additional lines of maint. to be added in Elsolvador. They have 4 now, which is the limit, and they will be asking for an additional 2, I believe. However I really believe we will get once again another "contract extention" which will put us at nearly 47-48 range. Hopefully UPS will indeed get their rumered 50ish as we usually follow them. Good luck to you guys and demand that the teamsters produce OR GET RID OF THEM!! Later...

swamt, it's posted in the-ualmechanics.com site. It looks like 1 July 2012 top out will be $37.50. What a joke the teamsters are. I still haven't seen what all this supposed power with their 1.4 million members or their trillions of dollars in the bank have done for us. Get ready, AMFA here comes the new UAL, bigger and stronger than before, and a lot of catching up to do!

IMHO, AMFA won't happen again. The ibt spent tons of money knocking on doors of the laid off mechanics from Indy. They are upset at the iam for letting them be put on unpaid leave, then not getting their job back. Then upset with AMFA for not getting their jobs back. ibt lied to them to get them to sign an ibt card and vote ibt. With lifetime recall rights, they are still counted as a vote with the nmb. I would think at this point, they just don't care anymore.

As a member of the twu (and not for too much longer because AMP will remove them from harming our profession.) I am glad we did not listen to the twu when they peddled our previous t/a which would have certainly ran right smack into your negotiations.

I hope that everyone at UAL votes NO on this t/a because you are worth more. The teamsters do NOT deserve to represent a skilled craft like ours. Stand your ground and fight for what your responsibilities are worth.

Good luck.

Maybe if you guys n'gals at AA, USAir and CAL took a stand when you should have then the UAL M&R wouldn't be here today.

JMHO

Thanks Ken. We think the ballots have already been tallied. We expect it to pass no matter how many no votes there will be. It makes me sick to my stomach living through this nightmare. GT Davis

Outstanding photo! This image should be on union T-shirts and passed out to all UAL members, to be worn on a daily basis to show solidarity. Also the AA boys should be wearing them. Love it...

Is there a way to demand an outside company to do the vote? Can the tally be watched? Do they throw away the ballots?
Or are they saved for a period of time? At one company I worked at the ballot box disappeared for 15 minutes. The T/A
passed. That was the IAM. This vote needs to be carefully watched. Can that be done? I don't trust the IBT !!!!!!

Gatemech, at CAL the teamsters had the vote count in D.C. There were people that never received ballots, people that received ballots that were not complete and people that received complete ballots the day they were due. My child's elementary school vote for class president went smoother.
I have to say I agree with GTD, the vote result has already been decided. The new UAL and teamsters aren't about to let us get in the way of their plan!

Uhh, the UAL mechanics approved their concessions at the same time as the "approval" by AA mechanics of their concessions. The IAM voted to accept the concessions on April 30, 2003; AA's TWU approved the concessions about the same day.

Perhaps USAir or CAL mechanics are to blame for the plight of the AA or UA mechanics, but AA employees didn't cause the UA concessions.
