Us 757's

Actually 600-609 came from Eastern. When US got these 10 planes back in the early 90s, they'd been sitting in the desert baking for a year or two and smelled just wonderful. NOT! Then when we started getting the new 757s from Boeing, US configured the galleys on the old EAL a/c to match and moved one of the lavs from the area by the 3L and 3R exits up to the 2L exit, which made much more sense. I think one of the later arrivals came from America West...or it was supposed to go to AWA but got changed to a US order at the last minute, or something like that.
The 757 was always a wonderful bird to fly and was my favorite, by far. Plus, we used to work them with 6 F/As and it was so easy! I hear they've fallen into disrepair lately, however....at least where the interiors are concerned. US has used them so much on the low yield, high density markets and they've apparently really taken a beating.

Aircraft 610 was the first factory fresh 757 for US. It had "ideas That Fly Painted on the Fuselage".

The early Eastern 757's that US acquired had major lavatory leakage problems and for a LONG time. I was on one from one time sitting near the rear of the plan and one of the lav's had totally soaked the carpet in the back half of the aircraft. It was warm on board and the smell was unbelievable. It was not the clean blue fluid either. I think the flight was from PIT to DCA. The Captain was fit to be tied after being verbally beaten up by so many passengers.

I was on one recently and someone vomited all over the lav floor. The coach FAs refused to clean it up and the FC FA had to clean it up. It wasn't a GoFare flight.

If I'm not mistaken, US Airways reduced the First Class seating to 8 from 24 because of a lawsuit regarding wheelchair storage and then probably due to revenue or lack thereof.

This is the first time I heard the wheelchair lawsuit. But I can almost be sure it was solely for revenue and nothing else. If there was such a lawsuit, then what about the other airlines that still have more than 8 seats up front of their 757s?

US if I was the F/A on that flight I would have put the Red Zee on the vomit and locked the door. I am not given the tools to clean that stuff up. YUCK.

You are mistaken (since no other 16+ F seat operators have followed suit).

They did it to cram as many seats as possible into the airframe since US has clearly shown that it does not value it's VFFs as it once did.

NASA's 757 also came from EAL via the desert. It flew around for several years with the original EA "hockey stick" livery, with a small NASA Langley Research Center decal above the windows. Supposedly when they were overhauling it for the NASA mission, they found a good stash of cocaine hiden onboard, a souvenir of EA's South American network.

After a few years, NASA got some money and painted the aircraft white.

America West had the same thing happen withone of it's Easterns. Probably 913 or 914, they are the oldest in the HP fleet and are -225's (25 is the Boeing customer code for Eastern)

You're right.
618 came from AWA (who got it from EAL) during their bankruptcy, that's why it's out of sequence.

618 is an ex Eastern. The delivery customer code is -225. If it were an America West it would be -2G7. If delivered to U it would be 2B7.

Also, there are pictures on Airlners.net of it parked in Mohave CA. And some others taken about a month ago of it painted up as Ryan International N930RD

US,
We are only required to put the red Z on it...I would have also closed the door of the lav..locked it and when we get to where we are going..cleaners can come on and clean it. That is not our job to clean up vomit.

The 757's were increased to 193 total seats to be used "primarily" in high density low yield markets to compete with Delta Song and others. The planes out of florida didn't have enough VFF's to fill the forward cabin. So it came to moving people up from coach to fill the aircraft on full flights. Now US can sell 18 more coach seats per flight and have a handfull of First seats for the VFF's.

Are they putting the 757s on business routes ? Yes. Although the plane is a very good one, I would like to see it replaced one for one with the current a321.

The A321 will never perform close to what the 75 does. It's a dog and the 75 is amazing!! Like a hot little race car with a lot of lift!!

On the contrary. I don't think so. We are both probably more right than wrong. I do know of the lawsuit and it was settled in favor of the Plaintiff. Also, why haven't they reduced the amt of F seats on 320 and 321's for the same reason??

UA's non-PS 757: 24 seats.

AA's 752: 22 seats.

CO's domestic 752s: 24 seats.

DL's non-song 752s: 24 seats.

And I had someone from CCY specifically tell me it had everything to do with running them to leisure markets.

The 757 is a fantastic aircraft, especially when compared to the A321, which is not! Ours just need to be spiffed up a bit since the cabin interiors have fallen into such disrepair. I hope management at the "New U" puts the seats back in F/C and uses the plane on something besides the low yield, high density markets.

Actually the list of things I hope Tempe changes is quite long.

It was originally delivered to EAL then went to AWA then to US.
-225 is the original customer.
