What I meant by that comment was It will be interesting If and when the company
brings them back as outsourced stations. In other words It may be possible that
the company is willing to take some finantial hit from closing these staions just to
reduce our scope.
Bagfather, it was my understanding that these cities were being contracted out now, and not closed, but I could be wrong. Have you heard they are being closed?

Everybody: Take it easy on Jester. He's going thru some hard times.
One of the supply routes for weapons to his compound just got cut off.

BF,

My primary weapon would be harsh language backed-up by a forked tongue with wit sharper than a serpent's tooth (with apologies to Shakespeare).

So Forewarns Jester.

Sorry I don't really know. I'm just going by P.Rez's comment from the furlough
thread.
Just FYI, I know that the GC in clt was telling everyone that the stations were being contracted out, not closed. Also if you look on the hub or wings site, the letter on there says that they are taking bids from vendors to do the fleet work in those cities.

These stations are not "closing," it is the Fleet Service employees at these stations who will be put out of work come Oct. 5th. The exception is BOI, CSA/FSA are both affected.

Right yahh are Bro!

This is precisely why I wrote so much about outsourcing in my first post in this forum. Fleet Service Jobs are getting outsourced! Our Contractual Language allows this to occur!

The ‘vendors’ that you have been reading about in this forum are simply third party companies that pay their employees next to nothing and provide no benefits! Freedom... I can assure you that these working poverty individuals will be huge consumers for American Business! Thus driving up the consumer demand for products! They’ll be lining-up for expensive vehicles...homes... and tons of other durable goods! How’s that for a “macro†understanding of all things economic?

Awlright... Jester... I know yew chompin’ at tha bit tahh say sum big words...so let’s hear it...refute... refuse... rebuke...reflect... but don’t renege!

Gitcha Sum!

It’s unfortunate to lose our people ( by that I mean us airways workers not just IAM workers ) in a piece meal fashion … But in war there are always casualties and make no mistake about it we are AT WAR …. A war against a slow and painful death brought about by a horrid economy ..

I feel badly for these workers …. Unemployment pay is really lousy in some states , and as far as getting another job , well , there’s nothing I want to say about that .. These people have mortgages to pay , car loans , school tuition for their children etc … and now what will they do ?

But at the same time that question beckons to all of us , what will we do when our day comes ? As I feel it will …

For now all we can do is stand fast against the storm and pray that the conditions turn to our benefit … At some point , there will be an opportunity for us to take , maybe only a slim one , but a chance none the less …Will those of us left have the fortitude to take that great leap of faith and courage ?

I don’t know …

What do you gain by attacking each other?

Dog I have to agree with you for the most part. We shouldn't be attacking each other.
however there are some on hear that have NO UNION in them at all except they fall under a union contract
there is a big difference. only about 10% of our total membership even participates in UNIONISM.

How soon you seem to forget. You wanted to through these folks under the bus well over a year before the
economy went south. The first t/a was in aug of 07 and by my recollection things were to horrid

Didn't have that problem with your YES vote. It was all about getting your 2 pieces of silver.

But at the same time that question beckons to all of us , what will we do when our day comes ? As I feel it will …
Well for you young grasshopper your day will be coming alot faster than mine. So maybe when they decide to try and cut say all of the west coast next go round Maybe I should just throw that YES out there and you'll be gone once and for all.

If anything can be learned from this I just wish that maybe some of you would actually listen to some of the
veterans of this industry . and quite thinking we are trying to bully you around . We told you this was going to happen and it has . this ain't our first rodeo. So now this is the bed the membership voted on and ratified so live with it.

Dog,
before you start flaming . I will not be attacking anyone else. But for the love of G*d . the Hypocrisy of some is sometimes just to much to stand by and let go.

that is all .
How bout them O's ...  there's always next year or maybe the next or probably not.

I don't participate in the union because it creeps me out the same way religion does.

Obey
Collect
Preach
Shun non-believers
Rinse
Repeat

It's funny, thinking back on it now, but this is the first job I've ever had where all of my hard work, extra effort, attentiveness, and job skills have amounted to exactly jack squat. Here mediocrity is rewarded just the same as magnificence. Sorry, I'm not that interested in getting that ol' time UNIONISM in me if it means participating in a group that forces stagnation upon itself and then claims, in the name of the working man and the middle class, that it's being attacked and oppressed.
