US Pilots Labor Discussion

Usually in large company's the Labor Relations/Human Resources have a VP or Sr VP level person that reports directly to the Very top.

IMO Isom is involved because the data used to prepare the request for a Temporary injunction would come from Operations. Isom is also likely acting as point man as US wants it to look like their top people are on this due to the safety issues raised.

Regardless of whether there are real MTC issues or not or if the request for injunctive relief has merit doesn't really matter as the turd (In the form of the USAPA ad) is still floating in the bowl of public perception.

Good post.

Can you guys act like professionals and stop calling each other names and acting like two year olds, PLEASE? You are making a mockery of yourselves and management is loving every minute of it. I can't believe some of you actually are in charge of making decisions in a flight deck. Pull it together, please. Jesus!

Philadelphia Domicile Update: July 31, 2011

Philadelphia Pilots -

Two items for you today:

New Assistant Chief Pilot

We have received numerous inquiries about the recent appointment of former ALPA MEC Chairman Bill Pollock to the position of Assistant Chief Pilot. Among the concerns expressed - beyond the obviously political nature of choosing Pollock which has universally offended everyone we've spoken to - is that there was apparently no announcement made by the Company that this position was open. To those pilots who would have appreciated an opportunity to interview for the position, we can only surmise that Management wasn't interested in a competitive selection process. In any case, we were informed that Pollock was starting next week to assist with what they anticipate to be a sharp increase in disciplinary cases. In other words, they've drastically changed the way they operate (read: Status Quo) and they are beefing up their ranks to deal with the results of that change.

Aerobahn Surface Management System

We had two meetings with the Chief Pilots this week to discuss the issue of allegedly "slow taxi" events with select pilots. This latest encroachment on our Captains' authority to operate aircraft as they deem appropriate is a complicated issue and we will be providing more guidance shortly. For now, we recommend that you document anything and everything that delays your progress to the runway. If the Ramp frequency is congested and it prevents you from moving the aircraft quickly, document it. If Ramp asks you to stand by, document it. If your Flight Attendants call to say that someone has stood up or is using the Lav, document it. If you are re-routed and extra time is needed to enter data in the FMS, document it. If ground control asks you to hold position for any reason, find out why and document it. And this is just a sampling; if you think of or experience other types of delays that would be impossible to perceive by watching from the ramp tower, drop us a note.

We think this development is unfortunate. While pilots at other airlines are concentrating on taxiing safely to the runway, it is now regrettably necessary for US Airways pilots to be mindful of documenting each and every delay incurred during taxi in order to protect themselves from false accusations. It's another example of the deplorable safety culture Management has created. We urge you to continue to operate safely while you also add this important documentation to your already high workload.

Fights on you jackasses.

And good luck with that status quo argument. I'd say you violated it first.

700, I read all your post, and have a respect for most things you say, I am not trying to nit pick or start anything, but....

Isom is executive vice-president and chief operating officer.

That pretty much makes him Hemenway's boss. So he likely has a finger on the pulse of just about anything operational, including labor relations that are causing a disruption to his operations.

While he was hired in 2007, and was not "HERE" when LOA 93 was negotiated, neither was Parker, Kirby and basically the entire upper management. For that matter, neither where any of the employees.

Want to know why? I am going to tell you anyway.

Because LOA 93 was not negotiated "HERE". LOA 93 came along with the "transaction". Nobody was "HERE" for LOA93, or for bankruptcies 1,2 and 3. The fact that the east cannot come to grips with that is the underlying issue to all the problems.
I was at CCY for the IAM M&R negotiations, Hemeneway, Glass and Harbinson was there, that is a fact, they negotiated your LOA 93.

Thank you! Thank you very much!
