US Pilots Labor Discussion

So you are trying to tell us that us airways has only become a crappy company in the last 5 years but was not a crappy company for the last 20.

I think MM was saying that the company has become an even "crappy" errr "company" "in the last 5 years"......... 😉

An assumption not in evidence. A company that has 20 year F/O's and pilots on reserve for that long or longer can be nothing but a crappy company.

Did you come from Mesa or Transtates?

Yeah, the Company was crappy and is crappy. I never said it wasn't crappy. It will continue to be crappy. Don't think for a minute that getting your NIC number is going to make the company NOT crappy.

Second, and I thank you for reminding me about BOS and LAS, did not both of those events have crewmembers from the opposite camp participating. I know for a fact that east members were in attendance in LAS showing support, and I believe the West had at least token support in attendance in BOS.

To this day, there are some very important underlying effects from the campaigns to keep LAS, LGA, and BOS open, which included the picketing.

Have you ever wondered why a simple slot deal involving US Airways can't get approved, while mega-mergers among the real airlines in this country are practically being rubber-stamped in Washington?

At the next Crew News, perhaps somebody should ask Mr. Parker what kind of rapport he developed with some very powerful politicians in DC over the base-closing issue, when he basically told them to buzz off, and not tell him how to run his company. And how many friends he made among other notable lawmakers who went to bat for him to get the China authority, only to hear him say, 'Just kidding. We're not really buying A340's. And we don't really want to go to China.'

The guy was, is now, and ever shall be a career minor-leaguer. He's never learned how to play the game at the major league level.

And as long as contestants from "Ted Mack's Original Amateur Hour" are running the place, US Airways couldn't get approval for a dog license in Washington.

I don't need to be in your crew rooms. All I have to do is listen to your own pilots
Well apparently you need work in that area also, listening, I never said USAIR was always a crappy company, up until team tempe arrived and undoubtedly put it way over the top! MM!

Well get used to it, because if that is your definition of a "CRAPPY COMPANY" my suggestion is for you to find alternative employment, unless Your attrition suites your needs!MM!

I think your problem is PHX, doesn't fit in with AMR or UAL. The AWA product isn't "viable" as admitted by Parker in your last PHX Pilot Crew meeting.

True, with PHX, there are "zero dance partners". The East sees this, this discussion has been had in many an East cockpit and crew room.

I feel your pain in regards to stagnation, the East knows all too well about stagnation. This last bid though shows upward movement, which will continue in the future as guys retire and go out on medicals.

As many Westies have wished, Long Live LOA 93. Upward movement, even under LOA 93 means a pay and quality of life increase.

Happy Holidays!!!

Well be that as it may I am not about to debate with you the childish antics of my base is better than your base as its pointless. Now if you care to discuss the true viability of the company as a whole then lets do that but if yours is to argue non sense then by all means carry on alone...

LMAO, there never was a debate intended. Just stating my opinion. Here's another one for you. The sum of the parts is greater than the whole. All the rush to the altar seems to be a West issue.......

Happy Holidays!!!

Ran into an ole CAL crew abroad today in ops, they were ready to tell UAL a thing or to, says it will get really ugly from here on out! MM! Did you see all the upward movement on that last bid? Especially on the E-190, and widebody flying!

Hey MM,

Did you tell that CAL crew that DOH is the only way to integrate the seniority lists?

As per KIRBY, PHX 3% to 4% yield thankfully SWA pulled down their operation too! All a WEST issue, kudos NLG, LMAO, MM!

Thanks for that info. I don't think the east is dead-set against PBS, but we view it suspiciously due to the info passed on to us from our committees (ALPA and USAPA) that says the system is ripe for abuse by the company. If there were a way to truly nail down the limits and keep the company from unauthorized "tweaking/gaming" the system, I doubt there would be much resistance to PBS on the east. It was supposed to be implemented here quite some time back (like 2002,) but the company could never show a system to us that they couldn't abuse to their advantage.

I doubt Tempe would go along with it, but if/when an acceptable PBS system were to be presented, it would go a long way toward "selling" it to the east pilots if they would run a 3 month parallel phantom PBS bid period with our regular block system. If it really works as well as you say (and I have little reason to doubt it,) the pilots would see how much nicer their schedule would have been with PBS than with the block they were actually awarded and there will be much support to implement it.

Now I am going to be honest here. When I got to AWA I had come from AWAC where we used line bidding. I used hate like hell going thru line after line looking for what wanted then having to bid 90 something lines and hope I get one of my top 5 choices. Lets face it after the top 5 we are all just settleing at that point for whats not going to make our stomach turn. I did however love that with line biddng I could build conflicts for vacation purposes.

Now I love PBS. I just put in things like dont start before this time dont end after this time always 3 days off between trips and weekends off. Now every now and then I put in for certain trips or to fly with certain people but for the most part its all about start and end times. I commute to Cali and hate to do that but I refuse to move. I began my career commuting from San Fran to JFK and I have no plans to do that transcon commute ever again unless forced to by base closures. There is not enough upgrade in the world for me to commute to PHL for an upgrade UNLESS its for over 200/hr and even then I would have to consider all I am giving up. Losing a day on each end causes in the long run divorce and I am certainly not considering that.

Management, reason no-pilot contract, no-f/a contract, this management has failed at 3 mergers, provides lousy service to it's customers, hey read the reports and is inept at best with their finances, oh no WE DID NOT MAKE THAT!, TEAM TEMPE did! MM!

Yet this management continues to make money, why is that?? Because people are always looking to get the most for the least. Yes they will complain about the poor service provided by the inflight that is very upset over the fact that they are being exploited day in and day out. The customer will state that they will never fly usair again but when the time comes and the other air carriers are charging 400 to go see grandma and USair is charging 225 they will come back and save that money for Jr's Xbox.

Its all about the money MM and once you grasp that fact they rest will just fall into place.
