Well...almost everything. There will be a slight difference however....over 1,000 upgrades on the East, similar number of retirees, same pay rates except for the aforementioned upgrades. Like so many others, I'm OK with that. Separate ops and status quo until the next merger which is years away....Between now and then, this is just wasted bandwidth.

I think a better estimate, based on active pilots only, is about 600 over then next four years. Of the 600, probably only 450 are left seat.

One thing USAPA ignores is the ability of the company to bypass the union and send the contract directly to the pilots for a vote if the company in facts wants a joint contract. An impasse is an impasse, whether it comes from the company or the pilots union. Parker knows how the east operates, hold out as long as your temper fuels the anger, then cave at the last minute for a deal worse than what was first offered out of sheer despair. We may be close to that point on the east.

And I think you may be high for "over the next four years" since the first pilots don't start hitting 65 until a year from now. Through 12/31/2015 there's effectively only 3 years of age 65 retirements (3 years plus less than a month), so my guess is about 450 -500 total and 300-350 active. It'll be interesting to see how many start going early - not the flood yet that some easties have predicted. So far there hasn't been a big increase of those going on medical to use up their sick time.

Good post! Actually stopped and thought before replying.
I like your philosophy , assumptions not so sure of. Would be a good conversation over a few beers. However I think these type chats result in little if any ( sans venting ) valid communication. Am an optimist and therefore believe both sides of this Nic believe in their righteous position and therefor relay honesty. When I claim " words matter not " I am referring their effect on Nic outcome and persuading opposite view to change position. I think they ( words ) mostly reflect feelings and therefore irrelevant .

Sorry to refute your false beliefs, however we have not lost our resolve in this mess. Just because several east brethern do not agree with all does not mean we're falling apart. Isn't this supposed to be a democracy, where everyone can voice their opinion? If you have opposing opinions does not mean we're fighting each other.

Since you have trouble telling the truth I will do the math for you. 557 retirements through 2015, your time line. Not the over blown 1000.

If you remove the long term of 25% and another 25% of those retirement (separate ops BTW) You really only have a little over 300 upgrades through 2015 (your time line). Not the 1000 you could not help lie about.

300 upgrades over the next 5 years. 60 a year. WOW! So 60 east guys will get a raise but the rest of you are willing to wait 5-10 years for that raise? Oh wait you keep telling us that we will own the airline in 5 years because all of you will be gone or was we had to wait 10 years to get the benefit of the merger?

When the facts are so easy to prove do try and keep the lies small.
