Breeze,

Do you realize that what that is saying is America West acquired US Airways, but management structured the, "merger," to avoid the change of control provision?

Bean

Bean,

Nice legal and ethical way of doing business, eh?

If it was an aquisition, the change of control clause would have kicked in.....however, if it was a merger, you guys need to stop the BS line about how you saved the East.

You can't have it both ways.

Breeze, great find on that article! LMAO. FYI - ignore or do te opposite of what Reed writes.

And no, we didn't save you. But the merger sure as hell did.

We got it.

You prefer opinions/colorizations that include the phase "blow me".

The suggested tasking was to equal or surpass the accuracy of the situational summary within 18 words. I was not the issuing agent for the post, merely one forced to admire it's brevity and simplicity, and originally noted the course expression as being "A bit brusque". You, on the other hand, seem, within the tragically limited expressive abilities so long and very well established within your erudite "one-liners"...to be perfectly comfortable with such delightful gems as: "Only an idiot.." Assuming (and no evidence has yet been seen to reasonably doubt it) that such represents the fullest extent of your abilities...well...what a "proud parent" of such linguistic elegance you must truly be. I'll leave you now to enjoy your day...in the complete certainty that all are eagerly awaiting your next sputtering utterance.

Your career is the worst case scenario. Far Worse than Ch.7 and a fresh start.
No, Pan Am, Eastern, and Braniff are worst case scenarios.

In my case I was too stupid and lazy to leave after the Braniff pilots at Piedmont told me to look for another job when the USAir merger was announced.

On the positive side the paychecks at USAir never bounced.

You can't have it both ways.

Actually, you can. Parker certainly did - control of the airline changed and the change of control language in your contract was made pointless at the same time. He played the east like a cat plays with a mouse...

Some of us have the gift of saying it all in one sentence while others say nothing in a whole paragraph.

When you say "course" do you mean "coarse"?

Just asking because of my limited "linguistic elegance".

Agreed, and unlikely here but still there's a chance.

In my case I was too stupid and lazy to leave after the Braniff pilots at Piedmont told me to look for another job when the USAir merger was announced.
Ditto!

Ditto! And health insurance has been vital for us as well. I've had to take a very long term outlook for this job which is fine for me. Many others are worse off and I like our chances in an AMR merger IF it comes to fruition. We'll see.

Jamie Weidner for PHL Vice Chairman: April 11, 2012

Fellow Pilots,

This is it. We are at a crossroads. The upcoming election for my replacement as Philadelphia Vice Chairman will have a huge impact on our future. There are three candidates and they have ALL stated they will fight the NIC to the Supreme Court if need be, so please realize the NIC is not a campaign issue. All candidates are in complete and total agreement concerning the NIC (and none of the candidates would lose more with the NIC than Jamie Weidner).

I have seen the BPR from the inside, and I assure you, the one and only candidate who can help move us in the direction we all want to go…towards an industry standard contract and to a successful merger should that occur…is Jamie Weidner. He will do it with wisdom, insight, passion and integrity. He will seek your input and thoroughly research each issue, just as he has already proven as my DDR on the BPR since this past December.

Last month I publicized my reasons for resigning from the BPR. Never have I witnessed an organization so dysfunctional with self-serving lies, distortions, threats, and the use of fear tactics. Thankfully, the officers that spearheaded those tactics will soon be gone as a result of your vote, but to give our newly elected officers the opportunity to accomplish what you so overwhelmingly appointed them to do, they need a BPR willing to listen, consider, and debate openly and fairly the issues we are facing. Our company has publicly stated they are “optimistic” and “look forward to working with USAPA’s new leadership team.” Give that team the tools they need to get our careers back on track. I saw from the inside what a "fighter" mentality will accomplish... absolutely nothing except turmoil, name calling and the continued complete stagnation of our careers.

I have known Jamie for twenty years. We have flown together on the DC-9, MD-80 and most recently the 757. Every trip together in recent years has evolved into a detailed discussion of our contract, negotiations and our union in general. He is an idea man with a drive and passion to make our collective lives and careers better. If I am called into the Chief Pilot's office, Jamie Weidner is the union representative I want by my side. I did not choose Jamie to be my DDR lightly. He has championed this union since day one. He has a passionate insight into teamwork and an ability to put disagreements about past issues aside and work together, without prejudice, on the issue at hand for the best course of action for Philadelphia pilots. As a consummate listener, he is approachable and will respect your thoughts and ideas. He looks for solutions, and will do battle for your career, but will not participate in an existing "fight for the sake of fighting" mentality. He is a self-thinker who will vote his conscience for the good of the Philadelphia pilot group. Trust me when I tell you we need an intelligent, self-thinker who will never be a rubber stamp guy. That man is Jamie Weidner. He wants what is best for YOU.

Vote for Jamie today. Your future depends on it.

Votes can be cast and/or changed until Thursday, April 19 at https://www.BallotPoint.com/USAPA

or by phone at 800-826-5530.

Sincerely,

Eric Jordan

Move,

Ted Reed has been covering USAir since you were probably in grade school, long before you were invited to the party. Just cause he writes things that are too close to the truth for you doesn't mean he doesn't have a handle on things.

You're right, you didn't save us, but the merger did, just as it saved you.

Not that it matters but I think you meant coarse instead of course. Carry on!

Jim

Jim,

Are you suggesting that the West pilots should follow the unethical ways of their management?

And people can't understand why the East pilots are bitter and hard to get along with.

breeze

For the past 27+ years I have fought the dishonesty and lack of character of the East Union Leader Hardliners, RC4, RC4/5, UELs, CCC, FOCKers, and now USAPA Lite. The relentless thirst of these men and women for power, greed, personal gain, and control of the union has been the most damaging series of events in the US Airways East pilot's history, maybe in the entire airline industry.

The decision to twice not freeze the DB Plan when offered to do so by management, using over 50 "roll call" votes against the advice of every MEC financial and legal advisor to become the first union in the history of aviation to provide its members a concession greater than the "ask", going against George Nicolau's recommendation that delivered the Nicolau Award, forming USAPA with its implicit goal of breaking a promise and violating the pilot's contract in an attempt to staple virtually every West pilot to the bottom of the joint seniority list, and now changing campaign rules to prevent West pilots from having fairly elected Appeals Board positions smacks in the face of character and campaign fraud.

The US Airways Pilot's Union is a sham, which is why US Airways EVP Steve Johsnon poor mouthed USAPA to hundreds of US Airways Managers and Check Airman at this year's Leadership Conference.

breeze
You boys are hard to get along with because you love by the double standard.

Just look at the crap you're pulling with the Appeals Board election. You find that ethical breeze? How about denying one of our pilots a place on the ballot in 2009 causing the election to be rerun? Is that ethical? How about ignoring final and binding arbitration? Etc, etc.

Once again you blame others for your state of affairs. You guys do fine all by yourselves.

Start being accountable for your actions for once. It'll be a step in the right direction

Please don't defend Ted. You're embarrassing yourself.

You ever see what Parker does when Ted asks a question at the quarterly's? It's always an eye-roll.

Ted, as can be read n the article you posted, can't get his facts correct even now.

Please find a more credible reference if you want to defend your points. The article you referenced has been parsed and your argument based on that nullified.

Next.
