WEST/EAST transition training classes

Does anyone know if the "A" going overwing is being dropped? I sure hope they don't try and bring that over to the east. Can anyone honestly see that being adhered to? Wait, we already have MANY over here on the east side that don't leave f/c. I LOVE when you get an "A" on the 757 who says, "I'll do some of the patio section for ya". Ahhhh yeah, as it should be. It's NOT a favor it's actually policy.

Service procedures were not discussed in training.
The "A" position will go to the most junior because of the Wests' policy on through passengers. "A" stays on thru-flts with pax(regardless of seniority)and does a full SECONDARY check of aircraft.

Oh please. You still sit there with thru pax? You getting paid for that? I did a 2 day the other day and worked a thru flight which was scheduled for a 1+15 ground time in CLT. Sorry, but everybody off......... 😉

Heard today from east f/a.... in training the west trainer said, if you give a free drink to a pass riding f/a, both you and the pass riding f/a will be fired??? That goes for food, headset etc. She said that the west is pro writing up anyone, even for taking H2O on an over night. West is this real???

There are VERY into micromanaging out here, I came from east and lemme tell you so laid back, out there... everyone's in for a VERY rude awakening if they impose this management style on our fellow f/a's out east. There very into making sure you KNOW what you did wrong and being DISCIPLINED for it. HAlf the supervisors doing the punishing haven't even being f/a's and some were only on the line for a minute. It's often very very ridiculous what we get written up for or have to explain ourselves over. PS: there have been a number of f/a's suspended and a select few terminated for being "a" and walking past they overwing. I see it both ways though, I think it's def. appropriate to have someone up there at all times, but don't act like mommy or daddy and punish us for every little thing we do wrong.

Oh that's rich. I heard they can be fired for sitting in the last row, too! 🙄

We will simply have to weed out the narks, just like we did at East. No biggie. Once we stop taking care of each other, it's over.......

No mention in my training class about the "A" not going beyond the wing. Just that if the minimum crew is 1 it is the "A" who stays. No exceptions. If the minimum crew is 2 then "A" and "B" stay and so forth.

No mention about drinks or headsets.

That is what the company advocates...however, real life is different. Do not believe everything what the trainers say... We really do not wright coworkers up..... may be that is what they want..... certainly, there are always some people who like to act as a "snitts"... they do not last long as an F/a

Make sure to pass the "snitts" names around.......

I'm sorry but without all of us here on the eastside trying to sound like a bunch of nonconformists and hard a$$es this kind of micromanaging will only blow up in managements face. Taking care of each other is sometimes all we have. There are waaaaay to many of us for that kind of managing. Not to mention the life that the one doing the turning in or ghost riding would have at work. Is it allowed to give away a free drink/headset? No but considering what we have lost and the money management is raking in they'll have a very hard time breaking the more senior folks here of taking care of our own. Hell we sometimes treat employees of other airlines better than we treat our own. NEVER HAPPEN!

sky high states: HERE WE GO. We have our first whiner. Interesting that you profess a positive attitude for the WEST SIDE, but you come back from training with a critical and comical point of view. I find your comment about the jacket issue somewhat petty, honestly. Dont like the policy, change it. Get on the committee that works with the manual.
So???........I'll give you another chance, anything POSITIVE about the training? HUH?
only stating opinions.

How ironic: I state that it was funny on having to get my flight attendant blazer/jacket when its not even a mandatory item. Honestly I wasnt being a whiner, just stating an "opinion" on the CBT portion (1 of 3) of the integration training. I have the classroom training later in the month. I think the CBT is the best tool that the company could have created! Love being able to do it from the comfort of my home office, and not having to lug around a paper workbook that would need to be graded like a childs schoolwork.

Just the facts and opinions..so what do you have to say about that?

So

Koa...can you say Two certifications!!! Let us know what your paycheck says after final transition. I'm guessing USAIRWAYS...duhhhh

It just might say Delta one day too! How you gonna feel about losing the US name then?

I went to training on Monday. We spent half of the day on the door procedure. It's just as goofy as everyone has said. We could not stop laughing. However, if our ISD numbers lower after merger than it will be okay. I still think that the low incidence of ISDs out West is due to the fear of being immediately terminated. The rest of the class was similar to recurrent; flipping though the manual and hands-on training. We were told that the West F/As have 4 whole days of integration. My!

Wow half the day on the door disarming procedures?? On the West when it first was created we had a dvd to watch before we started a trip and signed off that we watched the video. It took a big 8mins total!

Are the West F/As doing international training? I heard in the future if we ever had new hires they would only be trained on the A319/20/21, 737 and 757 and domestic. If you were to be based in an east base you would later be trained on the A330 767 and E190 and transatlantic training.

That would make sense, no? I don't think that they are planning on putting 767/330 time in PHX, so why waste the time?

No we are not being trained for international - but will have 321 training in March and April. Just out of curiosity - just had our manager of inflight training fired (or so the rumor goes). Do you guys at East have a dress code for your recurrent training? We can wear jeans but have to have a collared shirt tucked in with a belt or a sweater. This was the "brain child" of the now past training manager. Like anyone sees us in the building. Hopefully we can adopt your laid back attitude (and that is meant as a compliment). This place (West) thrives on stupid rules that accomplish nothing but to intimidate the workforce.

Non-revenue coach attire. No open toe shoes or shorts.

Why was he fired?
