WEST/EAST transition training classes

Let's be real. If the Captain has briefed the "A" and the "A" is briefing the rest that they have 10 minutes to prepare the cabin, my coat will be the last thing that I will care about, checklist or not.

There will be an emergency checklist to work, and briefing the passengers, ABA's, UM's (including assigning a UM buddy)and trying to both relieve the anxiety level and making sure that I have prepared the passengers and the cabin as best as I could would take every second of my time. I don't have 15-30 seconds to put on a useless piece of clothing.

Tell me, does the flight deck checklist include getting up and donning coats? Once the plane has come to a stop they also have duties to help evacuate the aircraft.

Well since the Blazer is now optional...it is really a MUTE POINT everyone!

Many airlines have for the Captain to grab his hat on his way out.

Is that guy from the safety video still training in CLT?

The west disarming doors procedure sucks!...but unfortunatley it works. .. I belive they are taking some of our simplified procedures and making them more complicated but I am sure that goes for the east side as well.
Not being an F/A can you explain briefly how the disarm procedures differ? east and west?
TYVM

They are the same, they both disarm the doors. The West has a big to-do of pointing and talking and all that nonsense. We hate it too. But, it works, it keeps people from blowing slides which costs a lot of money. I cannot argue with the facts, it does keep ISD's to a min.

I just wanna throw this out there.

Yep, still in training center. Had him for recurrent.
One of the Best they have.

Does your credit go toward your monthly work hours or above it. East was alway pay no credit before the new $60.00 day crap.

As East f/a...I've never seen massive rude f/a's, yes we can be tired , most commute to training and come in off red eyes or early flights so they are tired. The chatter has ended mostly since less chatter means early out and being able to catch your flights. My guess is there will be more Q/A due to the subject matter and curiosity.
l8rd8r,
We get both pay and credit for the merger training class and the CBT modules. It is paid in addition to whatever trips we have on our line. Keep in mind the west doesn't have "caps" (I think that's what you call it) on our hours. We have FA's that routinely fly in excess of 100 credit hours a month....not me though.

On another note, had the integration training just the other day. The whole day was very stress-free and informative. Nothing about the day was difficult other than trying to break the habit of our old commands. Hats off to the east instructors, especially Tom Pickett. What a great trainer and super nice guy, I wish they could all be like him!

I went to training on Monday. We spent half of the day on the door procedure. It's just as goofy as everyone has said. We could not stop laughing. However, if our ISD numbers lower after merger than it will be okay. I still think that the low incidence of ISDs out West is due to the fear of being immediately terminated. The rest of the class was similar to recurrent; flipping though the manual and hands-on training. We were told that the West F/As have 4 whole days of integration. My!

We've got a lot of CBT training and 2 days (for now) of classroom. It is a lot to re-learn things that have been instilled in our brains for years. I think the biggest thing for us will be learning the new commands. We had fought for years to get our commands simplified and finally training did that. They were very easy to remember and short and to the point. East commands are much more involved so I think that is going to be the major challenge. We HATED the door disarming procedure but it has worked so everyone has pretty much quit complaining about it. As for overwing - we STILL think that it is stupid. Have heard nothing but great things about East's trainers.
