WEST/EAST transition training classes

TravelPro72 while yelling "Grab ankles, heads down, stay down" may seem stupid there is a valid reason why airlines or US Airways uses this.
Are you freakin kidding me? After 9.5 years I always wondered why, just WHY we had that command. Thank you very much. I don't care what the reason is for the command....THE AVERAGE PERSON CAN'T DO IT! ! ! ! Good lord next I'll be told why we have passengers fasten their damn seatbelts. Just an FYI I'm not being rude but simply poking fun. FLY I knew what you meant.

I actually know the FA that was on that flight (she's the on on the PA (unless she's yelling that). Guess it shook her up a lil too. She was in EYW when someone blew the slide too.

I got to meet some of the WEST In-Flight Employees Trainers that went to CLT today. They are some great people. THey are very sweet and nice. Be extra nice to a short older lady with Gray Hair. She's one of a kind. If your in the hospital, she will come visit you or call you at home. She's like a Grandmother of all of us on the WEST... Her nickname is BARBIE. 🙂 😀 Also one of my fav's is another guy who is nicked named "money". Very nice guy. Have fun they are some of our best IN-Flight Trainers. They have been here since the first America West Days.

Oh please, it's not just the senior ones. I have been sleeping through training for a few years, and I am junior!
Well...maybe its the classes that I am in...example...when I had 190 training most were over 30 years. One slept most of the class. Head bobbing in and out of sleep for the whole thing. It was actually kind of funny. The instructor kept looking at her with a mad face. Then 4 ladies sitting directly behind me would not shut up. They were late after all the brakes. The instructor had to go searching for them. They were relentless. That actually has happened in ALL my recuurent classes. Yes..its not always the senior ones, but, in my classes it was.

Now now! don't you DARE give passengers their own minis!

Just wanted to add that we get paid 4.23 credit hours for the class, based on what ever our hourly rate is and we are also getting paid 3.00 hours when we complete the 3 CBT modules related to the merger integration training.

Does your credit go toward your monthly work hours or above it. East was alway pay no credit before the new $60.00 day crap.

As East f/a...I've never seen massive rude f/a's, yes we can be tired , most commute to training and come in off red eyes or early flights so they are tired. The chatter has ended mostly since less chatter means early out and being able to catch your flights. My guess is there will be more Q/A due to the subject matter and curiosity.

The first West integration training class begins tomorrow January 6th. It should be an interesting next few months.

I completed 3 CBTs today, the first had about 175pages, the 2, 3rd each about 150pages. Have to say some very interesting changes. Wonder how long before they decide to revise these changes.

One that made me about laugh was in a planned emergency, FAs are to get their manuals and their Uniform jacket. As a uniform jacket is a sign of authority! And should be worn by the crew member to show that they are a crewmember.

That is absolutely true. Back in the day we ALWAYS had to wear a jacket with a long sleeve shirt....which was NOT permitted to have wings on it. Therefore, the jacket was so that the pax recongnized you as a crewmember and not some stuffy business man in a white shirt.

I don't know about you, but I would want to know who I should be looking for for help if I didn't know what I was supposed to do as a pax

Sleeping in Training........I'm SHOCKED! I was told the E190 Training was as "interesting" as watching Paint DRY on a Wall. (And I'd say that makes napping a Better Option).

And dont forgot to put all babys on the floor at the bulkhead in a blanket... To become a missle...  Get REAL that's the last thing a mother will naturaly want to do!!! PLEASE...  GET REAL. B)

I went to class Sat, it was more pleasant than I thought. Both East and West Trainer were very helpful, empathic, encouraging , non judgmental. As to the baby on the floor= "last option" and if the "parent insists" The instructors suggested that this is not the best recommendation. Hence, we should stop harping about it.

Why is it so difficult for people to understand that America West DID NOT buy US Airways (hence they did not acquire anyone) Several large corporations put up enough capital to, in essence, buy both companies and merge them together. America West did not have the capital to buy US Airways. Even Doug Parker has said that America West was bound for bankruptcy themselves before all this happened.

Nevertheless, and correct me if I'm wrong, don't all of our paychecks say US Airways now? We are all one, like it or not and it will never change because we don't matter. We are the little workerbees that make this whole thing work on a daily basis and put money in the pockets of the investors, Board of Directors, and uppper management. The best any of us can do is realize this and ban together for contracts that allow us to make a living out of this profession.

M<y pay check is still states "America West"

FYI at the time of the merger HP was making profit the second year. It is always a possibility to be in "bankrupsy" down the road, ...... All of these is moot issue, except the check heading.

MY PAYCHECK STILL SAYS AMERICA WEST

Koa...can you say Two certifications!!! Let us know what your paycheck says after final transition. I'm guessing USAIRWAYS...duhhhh

Ok so anyway..... how about the merger training. What did you guys do?

Who thinks of these training procedures?

sky high states: HERE WE GO. We have our first whiner. Interesting that you profess a positive attitude for the WEST SIDE, but you come back from training with a critical and comical point of view. I find your comment about the jacket issue somewhat petty, honestly. Dont like the policy, change it. Get on the committee that works with the manual.
So???........I'll give you another chance, anything POSITIVE about the training? HUH?

only stating opinions.

I think we should wear the jackets, hell all the time, like we wanna see some nasty sloppy senior mama w/ her shirt unbuttoned to far(we all know one of these) and trying to command around and have a t*t fall out, yes it is an emergency and no ones really gonna give a crap, but hello when he/she takes all the publicity pics for saving the day, one has to look put together🙂 we can't have them looking like a TRUE LCC f/a! lol. Guess we can only bring back a hint of glamour for an emergency.

There is a reason we have that instruction in the manual. I'm not sure if anyone mentioned before but here goes. Before we had aviator shirts we had plain shirts with nothing to identify you as a crewmember. I guess it could be deleted but some STILL wear the jacket so the instruction would still apply. While the cream shirt for females is NO LONGER allowed to be worn I don't think they ever truly sent a memo that the Van Heusen white shirt for men couldn't.
