Do some research. Twenty years ago, a/b scales were started, people were coming off futloughs at AA and others like Eastern. National, Pan Am. This industry has always been volatile. Seriously, research it.

Maybe you should do some research.

Your total compensation package today is worth less than it was 20 years ago, much, much less. In fact is as if there no longer are scales because we are all at B-scale.

Twenty-five years ago you could look forward to earning a good wage, sure you might get laid off every now and then but the wage was good enough to come back to. The airlines have rode on that reputation for a long time. Now we no longer have a good wage and can expect to get laid off every now and then.

Dont believe me? Go look at the thread mechanics wages vs CPI, you guys have done about the same.

Unlike Delta, we get to vote on that!

And then when the company does not care for the outcome, the voting period gets extended, management unabashedly lobbies voting crews and the outcome is changed.

Oh, how I love selective memories.

<_< TUL. Oh really! Is this is the same TUL that coudn't get a 767 pylon back on the aircraft after a simple bushing mod? O.K.! Thank you for the info. aa! And yes, now that you mention it I did read somewhere that it was 20 757s. That one 737 is a bet of a surprise though! But it dose make sence.

Surely we will be recalling some mechanics for this work. 😛 😛

CR Smith? He retired in 1968. Your seniority has been your saving grace.

I deal with several of these mossbacks. AA generally has been their only real job after a stint in the military if that. Their world view is limited to everything is OK, because I am doing OK, after all they were never laid off, transferred maybe, but off the payroll?

And when they bumped to LA, ORG, or NYC living expenses were not that far out of line from Tulsa.

<_< It would seem that it's finally going in the right dirrection! But isn't TUL pretty full these days? Or are they just going to rent more space from Boeing?

At least our pay was in-line with the cost of living. Now I am making the same pay I did 20 years ago. Why dont you do some research hammer head

It is amazing how you guys hijack a thread and make it into something else! BTW, I am female, I don't know what Hammerhead is besides a shark. And maybe a thumb. Take care sweetie.

So back on subject, when do they expect to have all the airplanes outfitted, anyone know? HOward Fried, New York Base MAnager claims that we are starting European flying with them, does anyone have specifics? As noted on another thread, he threw out, barcelona, Munich, Lyon, Nice, Amsterdam,etc...
Anyone know anything definate? There must be something or they wouldn't be going thru with this.

He didn't retire. He left AA by request from LBJ to be secy of transportation.

Yes, I have seniority. It allowed me to have sat sun off after 27 years. And just missed layoffs in early 70's.

I am sorry his biography says he retired. You might want to get in touch with his biographer and point out the mistake. You can read it here.CR Smith
