how long would it take for the ibew to actually take over the ramp fleet service if they get more than the 50% plus 1? Also how would it affect those furlough agents working in the outsourced cities who want to transfer into the mainline cities?
Boy, you people just don't get it!
First of all if the IBEW gets enough cards to actually warrant an election....you will have to overcome all obstacles of actually being able to successfully win the election....
1. You must have at least 50% + 1 of all eligible members, and yes that includes furloughed members with recall (that number stands around 800) that means that the the 1st 800 voters participating and voting for the union will actually be just catching the number back up to zero------What that means is that you will already be in the hole by the 800 members who are furloughed and most likely have no intentions of voting if they can even be found.....
Just look at the member participation for voting on the transition agreement-----it was less then 50%------
Anything less then 50% total participation means DE-CERTIFICATION.....NO UNION.....NOTHING........Trust me, you think it can't happen, well it's already happened here once and within 2 weeks the company took just about everything we had and wiped it out.....
2. If you even lucky enough to win the election any union on the property will have to establish officers and a negotiating committee and will be starting from scratch with the company.......You guys in the stations that are farmed out will stay that way and none of that will change......
What this means is what you have today will be what you will have until the new union gets up to speed and who knows how long that will be..... The IAM pension will be gone immediately as will any progress made with the Change in Control Grievance.......You will basically be starting from ground zero and who's to say once it's said and done that the IBEW or any other union for that matter will accomplish or be able to do anything they promised......THAT'S THE BIG QUESTION
Let those on here say what they want, but this is the truth and if you think for 1 min. that taking a chance on trying your hand with an election against the crooked Company with the backing of the crooked Govt. agency the NMB, you will be in for a rude awakening......That is a fact......
So I encourage everyone on this board that either signed a card or is thinking about signing a card to really think long and hard about what you are doing........
And listen, trust me when I say I am no fan of the IAM at all.....in fact I am frustrated myself, but by no means is this the time to be playing with our futures and taking a chance on Dougweiser and Co. to be your representative...because that will be the likely outcome of this....
You see what the company wants to give you with representation-----just imagine what you quality of life will be without any.......Do any of you think Doug is not sitting at the bar and in the boardroom just salivating at the thought of Fleet Service with no union......
So think long and hard about your decision!
