12 Egos. It's just that simple. 14 months is long enough to prioritize a comprehensive proposal. I don't know specifically which articles are the holdup as both unions have different preferences along some things, but if I hear "We are taking the best from both" one more time, I'm going to barf. What does that mean? Industry bottom in everything? The TWU contract is deplorable and really just a take it or leave it company policy by Horton. There isn't one thing in that awful rag that anyone could possibly want, especially given that it is so far inferior to even what non union folks currently enjoy. And the IAM contract, while better, is far far obsolete now that the industry has advanced so much farther.Tim what in your opinion is going on with the negotiations? If the ASS was having trouble with the company I would understand. but it seems they are having trouble with each other. Is there an international president or someone who can step in at this point and get the ball rolling possibly replacing some of these people?
Thanks Tim is there some union official who can step in?It doesnt even look like they scheduled any ASS meetingsTim Nelson said:12 Egos. We arent' talking 2% pay raises that we are foregoing while they get their crap together, we are talking $5 pay raises. So, with such a very very good wage, among everything else with the first contract for LAA ticket agents, we need to resolve this bicker between two unions and have some smarts to know how to get to the negotiation table. And I hope these same differences dont' resurface in negotiations.

Why don't we stop bickering amongst ourselves and unite against our common enemy? IF we could just realize the power we have in our unity.....
The 10/9 update says the MET this week at DFW not are MEETING. You may be right though. I only read the first paragraph and realize it is the same update as the 10 previous ones.700UW said:They are meeting this week, learn to read the updates.

It appears that they may need a mediator or facilitator to help them with their intra-union Association stalemate. Preferably someone from the AFLCIO. If they can resolve things this week and schedule sessions with management, then imo they are still in position to get us all the gains other airline employees have received before the train leaves the station. Thanks Tim is there some union official who can step in?It doesnt even look like they scheduled any ASS meetings
where did you read this? The IAM has conferences coming up in November before the holiday season, so if they can't resolve anything now then it appears January may be the earliest. They just change the date!
Had enough yet?
If we run the number your way this is what we get.DallasConehead said:I have seen no evidence of this. Parker talks a big game but his actions as far as the TWU goes have been nil, nothing. I have nothing to show for the gains the company has made from bankruptcy. Parker talked a big game in his town halls and I watched and believed because I saw what he said was going to happen with other work groups happen. I began to feel this would be a good place to work again, maybe stay longer, past the age I could retire. But when it comes to my work group what he said would happen, none of it has, therefore he is a liar with regards to my work group period. In fact, he has now back tracked on 2 key things, he went back on the 4% and never gave it to us as he did with all other work groups and he has backtracked on DL+7 to DL+3, which I think is blowing smoke up my ass anyway.
I have lost faith in him as our CEO and no longer watch his town halls and have gone back to being disappointed and frustrated with the whole mess and will likely leave as soon as I can.
Most have since 1948, you can't win the fight with the corporate or financial world we live in now, it was a very different landscape back then. And to add to the union's woes, deregulation and low-cost carriers. Best of luck.Tater Salad said:You think it matters what name we call our union? I am no TWU loyallist, couldn't be farther from the truth. But if you think all of our problems will vanish if the name over the doorway changes, you're sadly mistaken. Until people start participating in their union, acting like one, and stop this mindless bickering, it will be the same song and dance only with different music.
I would bet you anything, if we became unified, we would be at the table talking within a week.
Negotiations should be a priority over any silly junketTim Nelson said:where did you read this? The IAM has conferences coming up in November before the holiday season, so if they can't resolve anything now then it appears January may be the earliest.

Most will advocate "SAVE JOBS", but if saving jobs is responsible for lower wages then NO.Tater Salad said:Isn't you and your union brothers prosperity worth fighting for?
I dont think most advocate save jobs thats the union pushing to save their dues revenue. I'd be curious if any union official took a pay cut when we did. That would be true unionism but I doubt it. In my opinion it is foolish to dilute a good paying job and turn it into crap. Im not going down with the ship im going for a lifeboat and dont get in my waybob@las-AA said:Most will advocate "SAVE JOBS", but if saving jobs is responsible for lower wages then NO.
Others have said voting on lower wages to save jobs but only to have the company take them anyways was a mistake.
