Overhearing recent F/A's talking on an A330 flight, there's apparently another cabin reconfig in the works for the A330. Any truth to this?

Think of all the weight they could save by removing the entire AVOD system. It would allow them to add another row of coach...

Good God in Heaven -- let us pray this one is true. They need to take out a few rows of coach so that the US 330 is not the worst seat pitch in the international skies.

Oooh...or, maybe they will take out some coach to implement an industry leading business class product mirrored to Virgin Atlantic.

Oh, wait -- I nearly forgot that Tempe would make the decisions. They are more than likely taking out premium seats to add rows of economy. While they are it, they will install dollar bill feeds for the lavs, window shades, and overheads.

Let's see.

Just use the front galley for biz class and take out the mid cabin galley, two lavs, and two closets and you could add 24 more seats, making our 330 seat 314 cattle.

Segment and LCC,

In the event that Tempe is reading this, we should stop giving them ideas now. LOL

In all seriousness, let us hope they are improving the 330 customer experience. Please, Tempe -- step outside of the box -- do something different that will attract passengers, not make them hate and mock you.

Air Transat puts 360 pax in the -200...
Major contractor for troop hauling for US armed forces and big leisure charter carrier.Of course they are going to seat 360 pax.
Rumor on US A330 reconfig is just that...a rumor.

In several of the latest Crew News sessions, Doug has eluded to the fact that the A330 makeover was less than acceptable and that they will likely have to do something before the start of next year, such as removing one row of seats towards the back of the plane. Let's hope its true!

Foor goodness sake, do something positive for a change, and increase the pitch to 34" throughout the Y cabin. This would even make Y more bearable than some of US's competitors!

It will take more than the removal of one row of seats to improve the 330 seating. More likely the removal of 3or 4 rows would be more in line with what is needed. They need to deal with the Boeing seats in the rear center area of coach and get rid of all of them and put Airbus seats there. When Tempe was told NOT to do the reconfig because it would have negative impact on the performance of the aircraft they did it anyway and everything airbus told them would happen did.
1) The IFE system would not be able to handle the additional seats , 2) Mileage range would be decreased due to additional weight , 3) weight and balance for the ac would become a problem.
In typical Tempe fashion they create the problem by not thinking it through and then cause further inconvenience for everyone by trying to correct their mistakes which is usually done in a half assed manner. Everything is done with the short time dollar cost rather than the long term benefit and savings. All we need to do point out the qik/shares versus SABRE . Qik/shares may have been cheaper at the beginning but it has cost us so much because it is such a pathetic system in terms of lost revenue and customer defections any perceived savings have long ago been lost. And they are still trying to enahnce this trash system 7 months after dumping it on us. At this time it is an absolute loser in all ways imagineable. That is not even addressing the Sceptor versus Merlin problems facing maintanance , where the HP sceptor sytem is proving once again that when it come to running a large international airline Tempe is out of it's league. They are truely the gang that can't fly straight.

When Doug flew to Rome he told a F/A that his reading light was not working, she would have to write it up.

She pointed to his reading light, two rows away, and said maybe you should take some seats out if you want the seats and thier reading lights to line up.

During our crew breifing last week we were told by a F/A supervisor that one row of coach seats will be removed from the A330 starting this fall. Since there are two coach cabins, I asked if this would be one row from each cabin or just one row in total? She had no answer for the question....go figure! Removal of a single row will only help seat pitch in one coach cabin. Each cabin is separated between rows 22 and 23 by four LAVs. They need to remove one row from each cabin in order to make a real difference. She did say they are putting new galleys in all of the ETOPS 757s and 767s. Also a new video system will be installed in the 767s. Apparently they are going to the same cart/meal system used on the A330.
