Pashaw! Didn't you hear? US Elites are leaving in DROVES! Droves I tell you! Why several members of this very board have been on here for more than a year telling us this unassailable "fact." Didn't you get the memo? Besides, it's commonly known here that Tempe's main objective is to drive every, single cotton-pickin' high yield traveler away who would even deign to purchase some kind of front-cabin fare.

Well....considering I am "only" a Gold, there are 12 seats upfront, and it is a Friday AM flight to CLT (and my upgrade percentage on Friday morning Eastbound flights is 0%), I was not expecting to get upgraded.

I did clear on the return flight on Sunday at the 3-day window, and I only clear Sunday Westbound flights at the 3-day window about 50% of the time.

I'll clear you. All it takes is a Cinnamon Dolce Latte and a reeses cup.

That can be arranged if you'll be at CLT tomorrow afternoon. But by then it will be too late. (I'm already upgraded for my return.)

Actually....I'd much prefer to sit out tomorrow's flight in the back of the bus. It will be far more entertaining.

I wonder if US is putting air marshalls on every flight tomorrow. They might need them.

I wonder if the people tonight's on redeyes realize that they will be getting the last free soft drinks. If they don't, they'll find out when they take their connection in morning!

My main leg is PHL - PBI, and granted - July is totally "off season" for the snowbirds, and there aren't a lot of business travellers that take this trip, last week and the week before First Class had EMPTY seats. I asked the flight attendant what was up with that, and she looked at her manifest and said, "honestly I dont know, there wasnt even anyone to upgrade".

My home airport, AVP - is getting CO to EWR, which opens up AVP to basically all the major destinations, and transatlantics that we never had access to before. I am already gold on CO and RARELY get upgraded. CO was very thrilled to status match me (and a lot of my friends) until the end of 2009, so I'm going to give them a shot and see if Platinum is any better at CO.

I'll see how it goes. I really hated flying US in the first half of 2007, but the past six months have really been great at US (at least my experiences) - so I need to see what life is like on the other side of the tracks, and see how CO is as a Platinum.

US really is getting better every day, but I am a little upset about the mileage matching being taken away. I could care less about paying for soda, or the removal of pretzels, but changes to the DM program really blow. I also heard that the Bank of America program is going away in 2009 - if thats true, that too is really annoying for me, because Bank of America is my bank, and the BOA card is really convenient for me.

They serve drinks on the redeyes? I thought the only thing served on the redeyes was insomnia...

Good Movie with Al Pacino & Robin Williams...Hilary Swank makes a short appearance as the girl who gets strangled...oh wait...we're talking about Redeye with Cillian Murphy and Rachel McAdams mhmm yummy...

oh...nevermind then 🙂

Well, back in the good old days (the days when they used to run 24F configured 757s between SAN and PHL and LAX and PHL), the redeye snack was the infamous "cold chicken plate."

Who else remembers those???

If you're talking about the real good old days, they served a full tray meal in coach (at least into the fall of 94), then down the snack box.

LAX catering used to have a really nice sliced salmon plate for F, which was actually better as a pre-arrival snack/breakfast.

As for that cold chicken, it was more like rubber chicken! I swaer there was a whole warehouse full of those things somewhere.
