Countdown to selling drinks

I think there should be massive signs alerting the public so they can hit up the ATM machines before being trapped without food or water for hours on end.

Trapped without food or water? Huh? There will be plenty of water available, as well as BOB on longer flights, as long as you pay for it, much like the airport terminal.

Perhaps US Airways can take a cut of the ATM fees. After all, they'll be the ones increasing that ATM business. And, of course, the ATM's would only dispense twenties, making it worse on the flight attendants.

Oh the draaaaama..... Who doesn't have 2 singles for a lousy coke? Lordy.... 🙄

If I, for one, were ever caught on a US Airways flight (hopefully over my dead body), I'd pay with a twenty and tell the flight attendant to give out the next 9 soft drinks for free.

Will do! That is sweet..... And don't pull the "I'm dying" trick, you ain't gettin a free Sprite!

Perhaps more people will think this way.

I agree. Pay it forward, folks! Good karma!

How was the movie? 😛h34r:

I was too busy picking through the expansive snack basket and watching my glass constantly being refilled to notice that they had no IFE. Also the glare from the sparkling walls of the DC-9 blinded me so I really couldn't see anyway. 🙄

How are they even doing the beverage service? If I were the FA, I dont even think I'd pull out the cart, I'd just say, Drinks are $2, ring the call button if you're interested in a drink and I'll come and take your order...

Yes, and before they make that announcement they should grab a big pot and bang a spoon around the inside of it.

So if that's the case, why can't you spend your time on USAir picking through the snack basket while I refill your dixie cup, and spend the rest of your time picking gum off the armrest of the 737? I mean, we can entertain you just as well. I mean really: color outside the lines sometimes..... gheesh.... :bleh:

Look, I know that this is not a popular move. But I've got to say, I am in agreement with it. We employees of usairways have given up one heck of a lot more than a can of coke to hold up our end of the log in this "price sensitive consumer environment"... And yet-as fares rise industry wide our customers will be banging away at their keyboards more than ever to save a freaking buck.

So we will continue to offer competitive fares. But if you want additional services-you can have them-but it's no longer comming out of our pockets. They can pay for these things if they want them. If not-that's ok too-ya got yur cheap seat.... Competitive fares-and pay as you go services-not a bad concept.

I don't get a free coke at Miki-Ds, the car wash, the gym or anywhere else, nobody delivers my freight for free, and if you'd rather ride the bus-well it'll still cost ya more-and you can't evan get a coke!

There has been quite a bit of media attention to this along with the bag checking charges. It would seem to me IMHO that anyone that is not aware of this has had their head under a rock for the past few weeks.

You must live in Charlotte, Phoenix, or Pittsburgh. Philly doesn't care enough about it's hub airline to report much on it. To the rest of the world, US Airways is pretty inconsequential. The smallest of the legacies with almost no international presence, secondary city hubs, and only a few stray RJs anywhere in the midwest. Basically a big regional that's forever on the brink of extinction. US's stupid beverage decision has barely made news aside from being noted as by far the most extreme and silliest of the industry's desperate revenue generating moves. Employees who have 'come to terms' with the decision, and think the customers 'deserve' it probably don't know much about the industry outside of their lame little USAir or America West world. And it's sad they've bought into the current administration's unprecedented anti-customer stance. Thankfully that's not the majority, at least not at the native US Airways. This thing is going to die a pretty quick death. US Airways is not big enough, respected enough, or even organized enough to change the fundamentals's of air travel. No has followed this, no one will. "Beveragegate" will be another egg on the face of this sad excuse for an airline, it will be a short-lived mess that will only anger and alienate the potential repeat customer and the flight attendants, the face of the airline, even more. Way to go

Stupidest comment/rationale ever, it came from Sherri Shamblin originally which is reason enough to not repeat it.

Places you do get a free coke:

American
United
Delta
Northwest
Continental
Southwest
JetBlue
Alaska
AirTran

Again, US is in no position to 'set market trends' in the airline industry. Moronic

i cant believe they are actually going thru with this dumb move! i truely believe that the managment of this company hates its employees. this is just another way of making money on the backs of its employees. lets have doug and sherry come out of the castle and sell sodas on day one and see them listen to the rants of passengers. we are the only airline doing this, and lets face it people, we dont have a great reputation to start with. this mangement must go!!! they are nothing but trash in my book....classless morons!!!!

To quote Miss Jackson........What have you done for me lately?

Not a blasted thing. YOUR MANAGEMENT has taken it out of your pocket not your CUSTOMER. Get over it already.

Remember, it's MANAGEMENT who's pocket was lined by the stupid merger and stupid moves they continue to make. Your customers are just as screwed as your are.

So please quit using that "coming out of our pocket" line. It's old and tired and has no meaning anymore.

Sounds pretty boring waiting__waiting.gif Nothing to discuss, Pfft.

Is it just me or are we always the guinea pig of the industry? It won't be long until you hear the rest of the crowd doing the same with exception of Southwest until their hedging runs out.

I just wish this was more thought out. Take off the carts and add some special items ie. Redull, Snapple, etc. Bring back the the Pringles, Kitkats and other snacks for sale. Get rid of the pillows and blankets and let us sell blankets and a blow-up pillow. Place a nice little card in the seatback pocket with the list of items for sale. If you want something please let us know. I don't think it's a bad idea in today's day and age I just think it needs to be more organized. Futher in the future it would be nice to see a inflight entertainment system that people can pay to watch a movie of their choice. As we all know nothing in life is free.
