Cup or can?

I guess that explains why I have no career in comedy. Thought I was being funny. I see you didn't get the joke.

On longer flights I just ask the person if they want "just a cup or the whole can". Everyone is happy. I'm not running 52 refill orders and no one is sitting in their seat fuming about getting 3 oz of soda.

I just to the simple thing, I follow policy always pour the cup unless the ask for the can.

NOW IF EVERY F/A WOULD JUST FOLLOW POLICY IT WOULD MAKE IT ALOT EASIER. F/A'S TEND TO FORGET THAT WHEN THEY DONT DO POLICY IT MAKES THE F/A WHO FOLLOWS THE RULES LOOK BAD.

if i dont like policy i write in to the department and live with it till it changes......i dont own the airline if i want to make the rules i need to be my own boss and not work for someone else.

Yes, but if every F/A followed that policy, it would make the whole airline look bad.

Here is a better question or two.

How many pizzed off casual customers will look for the other LCC's $69 fare?

What's the break even point between the savings and pizzed off liesure customers who buy their next ticket on a different carrier versus the cost saving of cup versus can?

WELL THE POINT IS THE F/A WORKS FOR US AIRWAYS, US AIRWAYS DETERMINES THE POLICY.......

DO YOU VIOLATE YOUR RULES/REGULATIONS AT WORK AND EXPECT TO KEEP YOUR JOB....

WHEN YOU WORK FOR SOMEONE OTHER THAN YOURSELF YOU FOLLOW THEIR RULES REGARDLESS OF YOUR OPINION......

WHY IS THAT CONCEPT SO HARD

And why does my company violate my contract any time it sees fit? The same reason folks give out a bloody can of soda: its easy.

Sorry, dude, but my 19 years of inflight experience tells me that if we did what manageement wanted all the time, we wouldn't have any customers left. AND, if management would once TRULY listen and implement what we suggest, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

And while we're at it, after the PED light has come on and we have made the final announcement, I thank each f/c customer and shake their hands...oops..shaking
hands isn't POLICY!! I can't wait to see what you have to say about THAT.

really? you shake their hands... you're good. I'm definitely a "B" person.

Just don't forget to wash your hands. 😉

It's just a nice touch and I must say the customer gives you sooo much back for doing what takes less than 5 minutes on a full A321 with 26 customers.

More than anything, I feel better. 🙂

Thats a nice touch.....But that being said it like apples and oranges....There is no anti shaking hands policy, There is a cup/can by request policy.

I STILL DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS IS SO HARD TO DO.

The fact that the can is not to be served is beside the point. All of those "service guidelines" were made up before they took 1 and 2 flight attendants off of the a/c at East anyway. Now I'm not saying that the service levels we perform today can't be accomplished with the minimum crew but we have more work. There is no reason you can't ask the customers in a row as a whole if they prefer cup or can after the orders are taken. "Hi, what can I get you to drink", coke, oj and cranapple?...sure would you prefer cup or can"? It's pretty simple. Someone mentioned CO airlines and all the cart service they did between a city pair. Well if they would have offered the can to whomever wanted it you wouldn't need to push the damn cart up and down the aisle three times like a damn fool. While some may find all that service up and down the aisle on a short flight nice it honestly gets on my nerves. Way to much movement around the cabin. Just do the service and get the hell out of the aisles. It's not like we do the service and are hanging in the backroom or alley smoking neglecting the customer. If they need you they ring (to pick up their trash or course). LOL All this talk about beverages makes me wonder....why is it that when you take Amtrak you get NOTHING included in the price of your ticket but transportation from point A to B? If your thirsty/hungry you go to the snack car and pay $1.60 for a soda and $2.50 for a hard nuked hot dog. If you want a pillow you roll a jacket or bring one. It's all transportation....why all these demands from airlines anyway? I like to do what I do but don't understand the difference. Charge for a soda and see how many want one. LOL

As long as the company has inconsistant procedures like a full bev service on the Shuttle with some flight times 30 minutes or less (which would be a no serve on any other flight), I WILL do as I please. The fine folksbetween DCA-LGA,LGA-BOS are no more deserving as anyone else than to go against what everyone else gets at that flight time.

BTW, there was a time that all the f/a's did on those flights was collect the ticket money, so don't pull the competitve thing. That bs started years later and is as stupid as PIT-PHL breakfast YEARS ago.

I guess I am a rule breaker. Oh God, I am costing the company. I feel sad...NOT!!!
