Cup or can?

That's because you don't understand basic customer satisfaction and I truly hate to say it but you need to find employment in a position where dealing with the public is NOT part of your job duties.

HUH, PINEY you just dont get it.....I take care of the Passengers, I follow prooceedures too.....I dont own US AIRWAYS i work for them i follow there rules. I may disagree with them, but i follow them.....I agreeded to do that when I got hired.

NOW JUST SO YOU KNOW IF YOU ASK FOR THE CAN YOU GET THE CAN. THATS POLICY OTHERWISE WE POUR YOU A CUP.

and i dont get why your jumping on me about customer service.......just cause i follow the rules???

whats up with that?

Because if you had half a brain you'd know that customer service doesn't really follow rules. I think even Doug parker would advise you to be flexible, You come across as rigid and inflexible like the famous "Prison Matrons" at United

ALL I CAN SAY IS YOUR WRONG.

and with you way of following policys im surprised you can hold a job and btw DOUG PARKER HAS FLOWN WITH ME....several times and complimented me for following policy and my customer service record.

I'm not gonna bash anyone for wanting to follow the rules or do something by procedure. It IS those very people though that usually follow prodecure where they want and break it in other areas. EVERYONE does..... Now when I fly with say a "B" that does NOT want to serve the can I say fine. When the bells go off for refills YOU will be the one to go and answer. This whole cup/can thing on a two hour or more flight is as stupid as not serving food up front while the box is being served in the back. Is that the kind of procedure you follow airportman? Serving the can does not make you a bad flight attendant nor a policy breaker. You are making your job easier. Were flying with fewer flight attendants today and flights are fuller than ever. Make it easier on yourself and give the passenger a better flying experience. Maybe someday it won't be free and we won't have to ponder whether we should give the cup or can.

I like how you think. 😉

I'm not going to bash anyone for not following the rules. I will serve a cup, and if they ask for a can I will give it to them with a smile. Individual attention will buy more good will than just giving the can and then "hanging in the galley."as many do. Quantity does not equal quality. All people want "generally" is to arrive on time with their luggage, have a little something to drink and munch on, served with a smile and most importantly for it to be cheap. Next time they get on expedia they are not going to remember who gave a can or not.

Even with todays flights being fuller, the job has never been easier as far as on board service goes. I was in Buffalo and the Flight Attendants were in the gate area serving drinks from the cart and the Pilots were answering questions about their delay to New York. That is something those passengers will remember. Again quality, not quantity.

Also for not giving the can the call bells are minimal if any and it's usually people that are drinking. Then there is more running for extras and restocking. There is more for them to spill with all their reading materials and electronics at their seats, and longer lines at the bathrooms. We are not denying them anything or taking away anything from their on board experience by serving a cup.

we give the full can on midatlantic. pretty much always. ive flown with maybe one or two who dont want to do it. we also double bag the coffee and do a coffee service. we want to provide a nice experience. so sue us. oh wait we're suing them lol

Bob,

While I agree with you that a whole can should be served. And is is ptopably quicker than poring a whle cup, because they only pour part of the cup and give you the can to pour the rest. But your cost example needs to be refined. I don't know the cost, but the cost to the airline is much more than the $0.50 you indicated. With all of the handling done for that can of soda to be put on a plane, the cost is much much more. Check with you insider who told you how much glassware cost, to get a better price of what it really costs the airline for a can of sada.
