CWA/Teamster labor thread -

Sad to say, I don't know who I trust least, the company or the CWA. We have no input on the new contract, or even who's negotiating it. We're all hanging on hoping to snapback to the contract from 1999. The company is churning out profits, anything less than the contract from ten years ago would be a travesty.

With the clown posse currently in charge at the CWA, I got a real bad feeling.
 
I have no faith in the CWA and Velveteen..
They are for the CWA and no one else..we need something else ..period..

CWA said we are giving concessions back--what is left?
Salary and Vacations..we get nothing else..

Im disgusted with them..

Oust them now.
 
A friend of mine spoke to the local rep.
My friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard the same thing

Just kidding
Involve yourself call your rep become a shop steward go to union meetings file grievances make you voice heard
There is no question the agent group needs it
 
A friend of mine spoke to the local rep. He mentioned with the next contract, dont expect anything in return and we are about to give concessions!

Know this now, so we CAN DUMP them!

Yes we do have a say, its a NO vote if its not what you want. You should be able to email CWA, your Local Union President and Velvet to let them know that we are expecting the starting point to be the old contract and telling them what changes we would like to have (and if you're willing to give something else up to get it). There is no reason there should be any concessions or more cuts in benefits from the contract. The company has had 8 ?years from the first round of cuts and 5? from the last to use the givebacks we gave to make it work.
The CWA should be sending out questionaires asking the members what our concerns are, what we expect and what we are willing to negotiate for. Anything less should be a good case for failure to represent if they arent asking us what we want/expect them to do for us.
 
Hanson from the Northeast local..he has alot of areas..but that's his position.
I emailed him of upcoming changes that NEED to be in the new contract , a copy was also sent to Velveteen..

Scope protection should be a central goal of the new contract. The CRJ-900 should be considered "mainline equivalent" as is the of the EMB-170. And should PDT go union, protection to keep mainline stations from going PDT is must.
 
We only have 25 employees..
Does you station have more than 2 mainline jets a day?
Was your station a mainline express station?
Outsourcing will be a high priority for the company
Getting expressed should be at the top of your concerns and objections

This company is profitable...

Our ramp was outsourced..many many yrs ago..
We have 2 mainline jets per day.

The company could go there
the company could outsource or express you station tomorrow CWA needs stronger scope language
If it says USAirways CWA works it
Scope should be a main concerns

Not part-time buyouts and senior people getting better vacation

Good post, but one nit to pick. MLE is still very much alive, although the pay scale is now the same as that of mainline sans the USD .25 "customer contact premium".

Scope protection is in the interest of those who work in hubs as well as those in outstations. What would happen in PHL if the company decided that EMB-170 are no longer a mainline type as far as CWA staffing goes?
 
I would prefer to have the Teamsters rather the CWA..

We are so poorly represented.

Ive emailed and have been in discussion with the IBT about de-certifying the CWA.

I would totally sign it. Anything would be better than the CWA. I am a stewart in CLT and I expressed interest in the being a part of the next contract negotiations only to be blown off.

Was unaware the MLE rate is the sam as mainline.
