East crews out West.

Dear moderator , hotel name is mentioned in post numbers

Long vacation?

Did you go to the bathroom or something?

Cute avatar 😉Well I was gone for a week on my annual "Visit the Barbell Operations" in CLT/PHX/LAS/PHL/BOS...I did not visit PIT/LGA/DCA this time 😉

 everytime i've been in the phx crew room, everyone has been really friendly and helpful. as for the overnight there, the twin palms is kinda dumpy, but there is stuff to do around. i do prefer the scottsdale layover, but either place, i find fun. i haven't done SLC yet- but did PDX (a short layover) i was hoping to cancel so i could tour the city. im hoping that someday we'll get ANC overnights- really looking forward to that. i do have to say that i don't like flying into phx and then having to do san/ lax turns... that kinda bites, but i like being out west, the people and the weather are nice.

Glad to hear crews are enjoying the West layovers. Now if they could get rid or some of these shady rat holes we stay in??!

I've had nothing but good experiences out west, from crews to gate agents, and hotel staff. The Tempe hotel isn't the nicest, but it's a decent location, and they treat crews well. Thanks to all the wonderful west employees that I've had a chance to interact with! I hope your experiences "back east" have been as good!

I'm glad you have had good experiences in the West cities and Hubs. I would expect nothing less than friendly and professional interaction on both sides, East or West. I was at the Blue Burrito in PHX last week talking to a very nice FA who was doing a double PHX overnight over New Years. She was telling me about how she was getting displaced out of PIT and was going to be commuting. I hate to hear those type of stories and am very sympathetic to her situation.

On the other side of me in the line was an East side captain who refused to even look at me. When I said, "hey, hiya doin' today?" with a smile, he refused to even acknowledge that I was there. When the FA left, she wished me well and I did the same to her. When I got my food and left I smiled and told the captain, "you take care, happy new year", he didn't even blink. Not a word. He's in MY hub acting like a total D-Bag. GROW UP, OLD MAN! He must be a real picnic to fly with.

It doesn't match the USAir FO in the PHL food court, who when asked, "How's your day going?" responded to the AWA FO, "it would be going a lot better if I heard your family got killed in a car crash". What the F**K would possess someone to say something like that? That guy need to be taken off-line for a psych evaluation.

I look forward to any Eugene or Boise overnights.

I remember EUG as a beautiful place w/ lots of different kinds of Henry's.

Also PDX would be nice, again w/ lots of micro brews.

The one I really want to see is Boise.

Sorry about that dude. EUG is full time RJ territory. BOI has periodically been RJ's, but I have recently been there for RON (we stay at the Double Tree in town, next to a creek/river). PDX is usually main line (although the company does a little shell game.....piss PDX off w/ RJ's, move 'em to SEA, pi$$ SEA off w/ RJ's...move 'em to GEG, pi$$ off GEG w/ RJ's....move 'em to BOI....you get the point).

The best micro brew company in the PDX / Oregon / SW Washington area is hands down McMenamin's. Here's a web page: http://www.mcmenamins.com

They are famous for taking properties that were to be torn down, refurbish them and turn them into some great places to stay, eat, drink and be merry.

Regards!!

Some were former PSA, further "out west" than you, even.

Experience. Something that takes time.

Must you use every topic to promote your belief that the West pilots are inferior and deserve to have their jobs stolen?

I personally neither believe in nor offer up intentional discourtesy. If what you claim in the last part's true...it was, imho, totally innapropriate for anyone to say such a thing to a coworker, regardless of the east vs west BS. Our two groups clearly have some serious problems to address. It should be noted that if you're unhappy with the conversational results..well..no one's forcing you to start up any with anyone. "hey, hiya doin' today?" isn't necessarily going to be universally well received, and you should have that figured out by now. You might also wish to consider checking your own "attitude" at the door if truly trying to be friendly = Where does "GROW UP, OLD MAN!" fit well into any sincere thoughts about cameraderie? 😉 Indeed...why should any such "OLD MAN" feel the need to speak with you at all if he's not so inclined? I'd personally think at least a nod and acknowledgement would have been appropriate...but I don't do everyone's thinking for them.

This is so outrageous that I am very skeptical it actually happened. Sounds more like pure urban legend that began with a malicious lie.

I had an experience jumpseating on a west a/c that I will share with you. Got along quite well with the pilots and the conversations were cordial. At one point the F/O told a story about being "flipped off" in the airport on several occasions by east pilots. I didn't have any reason to doubt him at the time, and simply stated an opinion that pretty much all employee groups everywhere are the same......90% of the people are great, and 10% are ***holes. The Captain heartily agreed and we moved on to other subjects.

About six weeks later, I sat up front on another west flight. Different Captain but same F/O, who didn't seem to remember me. During the flight, the F/O was engaged in a conversation with the other jumpseater, and began to relate the story he had told me. But guess what? The details had changed. I looked at this crumb and realized that for whatever reason, he was putting out b.s. for pure dramatic effect.

In every group there are going to be such people. You can't always believe what you hear.
