Fleet Service apathy

Dave I see your points but seeing you are with United, I have to ask why you folks at UAL always throw US under thebus and treat us as 3rd class citizens on the Titanic. My point is while Im sure we agree on the fact that there has got to be major changes in the IAM, but we need more of US folks in the running as RD and RC both have done absolutely nothing but continue the Canarybird acts of throwing everything out the window and coming back with trash. I would, as would many other US folks love to see a larger US present on the IAM negotioning team instead of the UAL folks. US may be smaller but darn it we are sick and tired of being the ugly duckling that has basically no say yet when we were suppose to be dead and disappeared we were resilient and made it thru, today we are a stronger airline despite issues but we are alive and well. All we ask is for us to have more members and to stop being 3rd class world citizens on the titanic.

Robbed,
You have to know that the members as a whole at UA don't think of US as third class citizens just the Presidents (Past and Present). just like you Dave Paz is a ramper but He is making a big sacrifice personally and professionally by choosing to run for office and try and make a change in our union.
I applaud him for that . Dave isn't just talking the talk but is putting it into action
How many of us can say we are willing to do that. So please remember its not the MEMBERS at UA that hates on US (except during election time) its the LEADERSHIP

Dave thanks for joining us on the forum. Hopefully others on the numerous tickets will do so to.

The facts were actually quite public. I sent him a text first in which case he wanted me to come in his office immediately after he called me a F ####. I wasn't angry at him, I actually told him that I wasn't going into his office and that I was enjoying myself in Miami on a vacation fixing to go on a cruise. The guy was so soft that he still didn't fire me and so I continued to post on facebook that i was running against him from August 12 onward. It was very public. And he fired me. No big deal and it really doesn't matter what his reason was. On paper, his reason was that I was violating the IAM constitution by telling previous teamsters to stop paying their teamster dues since they were now IAM members. But who cares.

regards,
Or could the real reason you were fired is, you barely won the united ramp election and RD didn't think you could win the united pce election. If that's the reason, RD was spot on, because he and the rest of the organizers kicked a$$ and won that election by huge numbers! The on paper reason you were fired could be that he didn't want to hurt your ego.

Just saying

I invite input from all on the following:
On a scale from one to ten, one being the lowest and ten being the highest, where would you rate the members' apathy level regarding issues surrounding the ongoing contract negotiations for the Fleet Service at US Airways in your station? It's time to start identifying the obstacles we need to overcome.

Apathy at LCC F/S is Coast to Coast. Once R/D and most of his slate wins in June things will get better for us in enforcing our current CBA. We should have a new CBA before the year is out. Then LCC and AMR F/S will be looking at a merger and representation election between the IAM and TWU in 2014. For now it's STATUS QUO. That is how after 35 yrs. in this industry I see it. Contracts for ALL in 2012.

Id say the its between 1 and 5 given that RD has had 4 yrs to do something positive for the FSAs at US but instead has not dont squat. Example back log of grievances hasnt tried to do to much regarding negogiations with the company for a new agreement

Kev in my limited role as ORD grievance committeeman the Co wanted to farm out IAM vehicle driver work I led a effort to save and protect as much of that work as I could with limited help from DL. Unfortunately now that work is shared between Union and vendor but we still have vehicle driver work at the Chicago Point. I also saved many employees from termination in discipline cases also I protected work by making sure our Contract was properly enforced through the grievance procedure. I also helped negotiate new work which was transportation of weather baggage to down-line stations with the work preformed by IAM represented Ramp.

dave you seem to be honest and truly a union man. The problem is not you it is the person who wants to control everythin. I have learned two things already. There are lots of united people on the occupy ticket and nelson has never negotiated a contract. All of these thing are the same thing he is accusing Delaney of! I spoke with someone on the negotiating team. and they told be they were well into the contract talks. Nobody i speak with wants to change leaders except for the ones that want union jobs that pay more and will get them out of the ramp!

OK so first you don't work for the company now you have contact with the negotiating team at UA . I understand why being number 1 is tough for you to grasp
since you are a bottom dweller and will take whatever scraps DA wants to throw at ya. Hey that's ok but don't blame others for having ambitions for making
a positive difference in the lives of the membership. You used to have that drive and desire guess flying around on the members dime has softened you
up , don't want to rock the gravy train I understand. while you were talking with the NEW negotiations team at UA did they happen to mention
that they are back to OPENING PROPOSALS.. Yeah that's right After Prez got suckered in to Combined talks Smisek B*tch slapped him back in place

Now for what RD has done the last 4 years..
1. campaign promise to US .." we are going to fight the attendance policy" only to tell AGC's after getting in office to stand down cause management
didn't want to arbitrate. That's a good start in your first year.
2. RD says to his OWN UA rampers "I'm not going to COMBINE you guys till we get our BK contract back" Not looking good in year 2
3. Reports in the Messenger "I am going to fight US on the closure of the 5 cities prematurely and locking out BUF"
sorry Rich decided it and I quote "the Unions desire to resolve their dispute in order to avoid the expenditures of
additional time and resources" Sounds like Rich really cares about the membership.

Agreed. a change in leadership will not hurt us regarding negotiations or resolving outstanding grievances. This team has been in place for 4 years. I, as a Grievance Committe Chairperson for years, have never experienced such an inability to move grievances forward through the grievance procedure. Step 2 decisions awaiting Step 3 hearings for over a year. Really?... Contract negotiations scheduled once every other month for the past year. Not my idea of dedicated, pro active representation. I think we deserve better.

Things will get better for us enforcing our CBA? Really?... I respectfully disagree. This team has had 4 years to prove their worth. To make good on their campaign promises 4 years ago. The record shows they have failed to deliver. Accountability is at hand. Do you really believe we will have a new CBA before the year is out? At the pace of current negotiations I'm thinkin you better set your sights on 2015.

One thing I’m sure of is that suspicion must be a real problem with occuoy. Why do you guys always claim I’m some union guy? I learned a long ago that people who are paranoid and suspicios have something to hide. Noway would I vote for you for that reason alone.

I agree with you Ograc. Vote status quo and get status quo. Contract negotiations are moving at a snails pace and wont be over for years. Change is going to happen.

You still slam the whole Occupy ticket. All because some people dont like Tim Nelson. So your"thats good enough for me" attidude says you cant think for yourself and you need guidance. I mean correct me if I'm wrong but you havent said anything about the platform or any of the other candidates on the Occupy ticket or any other candidates on any ticket. Do you work for USAirways? Do you have more than ten years with this company? Do you really know anything about the contract, or lack of? I was told hearsay. All you spout is hearsay. Have you ever had a face to face with any union official from any slate?

I am Dave Paz I am running for S/T of DL 141.

Dave, I would like to thank you for your posts. As of now you are the only person to come out here and simply post why you should be elected. No one else has.

Do you really believe we will have a new CBA before the year is out?

Personally I'll say that I think we'll have a TA presented to the membership before the end of the year. What it will contain I'm not certain, and hence I don't know if we'll have a contract or not.

I keep asking you, in four years, please explain any negotiations experience Delaney has attained. You can start with the Hawaiian contract. Please list the negotiations experience he has attained. Thank you in advance. And as far as LCC negotiations, they aren't out of the first inning. They were in PHX all last week and I wonder how many days they met with the company????? And how many minutes????? Inquiring minds want to know!

US AIRWAYS management will want to refuse to negotiate anything of substance before a merger with fleet service, especially if it studies how Delaney botched the United/Continental negotiations. Those negotiations at UA/CO will go at least another 3-5 years with Delaney at charge. The US AIRWAYS talks will most likely be dragged out until a few years past the merger with AMR. Given the IAM pension debacle set for Jan 2014, any new contract before then will slash your pension almost in half. The wage would have to be boosted alot just to cover the pension losses.
