but your company has continuously insisted on a cost neutral contract for our fleet craft.
Our mechanics come out ahead based on their skills. The pilots will eventually come out even better because of their skills. Does that mean a mechanic should expect the same wage increases as a Pilot? Absolutely not.
You and your network have failed to take into consideration that the fleet service craft is non skilled. Also, you didn't lose as much as other groups who have continuously built upon contract after contract.
However, the teeth of solidarity is always the strike vote which you are not entitled to in transition talks. Our contract does not allow us to strike so we do not have the leverage to take full advantage of the solidarity that you and your fellow brothers and sisters have displayed.
Unfortunately, as I mentioned earlier, your company has previously insisted on only giving you a cost neutral contract outside of section 6 negotiaitons.
Your company needs to finalize transition to put itself in the best position for investment parties. What good is it if you get your holy grail $20 but don't have an airline to work for next year? Do you want to be responsible for thousands of families that have parents out of work? The fleet craft must recognize that we aren't talking about the chapter 11 bankruptcy laws, in this environment we are talking about chapter 7.
THANK GOD USAIRWAYS CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENTS AREN’T REPRESENTED BY I.A.M.Tim,
as I told you previously, I am not against our members making $20 top out but your company has continuously insisted on a cost neutral contract for our fleet craft. I have plenty of seniority, and have no sympathy for this issue at all. Since the IAM saved this classification at the expense of 22 class 2 stations in 2005, what goes around comes around. The IAM should have seen the handwriting on the wall in 2005 It was the companies long term goal to get rid of catering at one point anyway, so had the IAM gone along with it then, those 22 stations will still be around today. There would have been some furloughs, but nothing like we had with all those stations outsourced forever. Putting the members in those stations out on the street to save the catering albatross, was dead wrong. With the high turnover rates in the Hubs, just about everyone from catering would have been recalled to their OWN station at some point, unlike those from the 22 stations that had to relocate. :down:Be careful what you wish for. I hope you have alot of seniority. I heard in one station all the people in catering are senior to the people on the ramp. Let the bumping begin. No fences pack your bags, WESTWARD HO!
