I have been told the new attendance policy of US will be 1/2 pt for late, 1 pt for sick, 3 pts for No Show. 3 pts level 1, 6 pts level 2, 9 pts level 3, 10 pts termination. Will take effect Nov 3rd. All employees in LAS will be called in Nov 3-15 and be given instructions individually on the new attendance policy. This will be based on a year rolling window.

I find it interesting it take effect the same day full integration happens.

Wouldn't this be considered a substantial change to the contract and thus require a vote? And how the HELL can they hold me to a policy on the 3rd when they might not tell me about it until the 15th? And why is the point system needed? It's not our fault LAS management writes one person up for 5 attendance occurances, while others are allowed 15 (or more) no shows. This policy forces management to be fair, but potentially at the employees cost.
 
Is there a specific form to be used to protest seniority? If there is, what form is it?

Nope I lived it in LALA land, lost seniority years because of the good old boy system. Always was a union supporter that did not go over well back then. Upgrading to full time was a management decision therefore your seniority number same for supervisor A$$ KISSING ALL THE WAY OR HITTING THE LONG BALL .

You CAN'T protest your senority. It is part of our POS agreemant. Canoli did it to us once again. The majority voted for it, so now we have to live with it. It is what it is, unfortunatly. Thank you CLT for trying to get DOH. You can thank everyone who voted yes for the senority intergration.

I never had the opportunity to get into the "good ole boy" club. I was hired right after the merger with PI. 1989. But I can play a mean SS or 2B, plus throw in a bit of offense to boot. As for you.........

Then why did the company put out the letter stating that we have until Dec 18th to protest our seniority if we think it is wrong?

that protest is for an incorrect classification date.. not a debate over if we should

use doh or class. I for one want DOH and have been screwed by class.. but that has

to be NEG. in our contract. Which by the way has NO monetary value attached to it. meaning

the company could care less if we use DOH or CLASS . what we have is a reflection of the old regime

which is soon to be gone. and hopefully we can get this issued resolved in the next round.

Good point O-man, I was going to say yesterday that DOH isn't a money issue to the company anymore. When I first took part in negotiations at AWA money was an issue because most of the people affected weren't topped out yet. Now, any people affected out west would already be topped out. I hope the New Direction takes DOH seriously. Section 6 negotiations could solve this inequity. I found the seniority integration committee powerless and basically a joke when it came down to what we were actually there for. Every issue was already decided in the merger process and the transition negotiations.

O-Man......You sound pretty knowledgeable about the contract and the union. The membership has confidence that you New Direction guys will get this seniority issue straightened out. I think the deadline is Dec 19th. Good luck and "Git er done"
