So you believe if DL cuts 50% of the service at an airport , they should continue with 100% of the employees?
where exactly did Rob say that?

Reread my question
josh accrding to steve miller he told me recently some of the folks i used to work with are still there while some went to clt and others retired
That's good Robbed but you realize US at BOS today is smaller than they were even a few years ago. Do you remember all the Carribean flying they had up until 2008/2009?

Surprised FLL and TPA don't make that list Dawg.

Josh
FLL is large but shares some of that size with MIA (and even PBI/RSW)

TPA/FLL don't have the the p2p network that BOS/MCO do. Only RDU has flights thats a non-hub. both are large though.

the carribbean we had  was not there when I was there     Thanks Dawg  I do count cargo so that 3 times     gee wonder how the dl preacher will defend the cuts

Robbed pretty sure it's more than three rounds. DL has been slowly cutting it and I think at the time of the merger NW had cut it back considerably. The AMS flight ended in the summer of 2011, I believe and it's final days were on a 763 operating less than daily. It was slated to return on a seasonal basis in 2012, but those plans changed.

Josh is right to a point Robbed. Kev can probably answer better than I can, but I was talking about big chunks of employees getting cut. In which case i believe this is round 3 post merger.

As for flights MEM has been dropping before DL took NW over.

thanks to you all for the clarification     that there just validates my point that DL is doing to MEM what US had done to PIT yrs ago basically

Even BOS is larger than MEM in pretty much all measures-flight activity, average gauge, local employees, departures, destinations, etc?
Lots of cities are larger than MEM right now.

US cut many flights and jobs at BOS that's jobs in my local economy and no one shed a tear.
...Says the person who champions farming out line stations...

Save your faux outrage already...

Help me out here; are you really this dumb, or do you just like being a dick?

yep.

Only thing that will be left is ATL, CVG, DTW, MSP, LAX, MCO, ORD, RDU, IND and seasonal SLC/LAS flights.
BOS, MCO, LAS, CMH, RDU, IND are some of the largest non-hubs.

if you count the cargo cut I believe this is number 3.
Pretty sure this is (wholesale) cut #3. Hot on the heels of the farming out of cargo, of course.

...And the closure of the F/A base before that...

...And...

I can remember when FLL was 2 DC9's/day in the offseason...

Kev what relocation assistance will these employees be given if they pick up and move to ATL, NYC, SEA (or anywhere else in the system with openings)?

Depends. If you have a nice manager "I have heard this neighborhood in the PTC/Newnan area is nice"
If you don't then "have a nice life"

Thats about it.

So DL doesn't have a formal relocation package for these employees?

Josh

It's not surprising that the pro-union crowd wants to jump on MEM as if it is the lightning rod that will end all and be all for employees to seal a deal with the unions....

however, can we step back in airline history and look at literally dozens of airline strategic changes that took place:

closures of multiple hubs by US and AA - PIT, every other city in the NE, RDU, STL, SJC, BNA....

NW - BOS int'l, DCA

UA - SEA is just the latest.....

it is little more than childishness to try and argue that there is anything different about DL's MEM cuts or CVG restructuring that hasn't played out dozens of times before, including DL in ORD, IAH, etc.

and there is also nothing different about the way DL does restructuring its network than any other airline does other than that DL doesn't allow bumping of employees - and given that there is the potential to disrupt far more people using the union system, it is no surpsie why DL doesn't choose to do it "the union way"

I suppose it shows how weak the union argument is that they have to try to conflate an issue like MEM when the same thing has happened scores of other times in the industry.

And at those carriers the CBAs have a clear cut process, unlike DL which can do as they please.
