Seniority Integration,

The seniority integration committee is meeting this week and I will be there. Before anything comes out, I would like to first give my opinion on the matter. I believe that the first day you started with this company as a fleet service employee should be your hire date. I know that part-time, temp-time, mergers and other factors have shaped what your seniority position is today. Even though my opinion is that hire date should be only factor, this will NOT happen because of what happened in the past with bad negotiating, bad forsight and selfishness for sure. However, I will be looking out for everyone with regards to what is currently in place as a seniority system. I will also state that pay seniority should never be affected by political views on classification seniority.

P. Rez

PR, what's your take on class senority on the twoer folks? There are several hat I know of that have minimal twoer time, but way more then my 10 years as a CSR. Personally I don't have a problem with them getting the pay for their years, but if they've been in the tower position for less time then I've been fleet I don't see how they could have more class senority then me.

I believe that this is contractually untouchable, but, we've been through many surprises before...................I am hoping that the committee is just a check and balance for the lists that are presented to them.

Read Attachment C of the signed agreement. All Seniority integration is etched in stone.

Attachment A.4. Bullet point 1 Lays out Tower Seniority.

This is a mystery date for the east side employees. They are given a Fleet Service Classification date the same as listed in the "adjusted seniority date field" in the America Wests Human Resources Information System.

In Canalees that means Randy agreed to give them date of hire with some smoke and mirrors thrown in.

If the Tower people were integrated according to Attachment C we could refer to the west contract and they would be given no seniority for Customer Service time and credit for time in the tower. Randy has managed to circumvent both the east and west agreement if they get date of hire.

P rez Maybe you can check this out

RatTales, I like exactly how you put that about Tower. I know in Vegas some of the affected tower folks feel that they had absolutly no input or influence in this and thus shouldn't lose anything. And they're kinda right. On the flip side, they aren't union, haven't been payig dues, and in some cases have never been to ramp class. I'm all for 100% giving the tower agents that went there from the ramp full senority. I know it's a bit "not the union way", but if you look at it, were we always on the East agreement they'd be fleet anyway. On the flip side though, those who came from Pax service should only get what they've earned since their transfer. I feel this is a reasonable "meeting of the positions". I don't use the term "compromise" intentionally because it would imply a compromise being owed.

I'd also fully support the Company giving them whatever PAY senority they have now, but class senority as mentioned above.

Just another question that came up today for the East folks. Assuming you are NOT topped out, do you get a raise on your anniversary? According to JM in LAS (this is second hand though) no one gets a raise except on January 1 of each year.

necigrad,
that is not correct . You get your raise on your pay seniority date. with the exception of what
was put in the last t/a to bring the west and class II up to scale. after that it will be on your pay seniority date

as far as the tower situation . years ago folks on the east lost time when the company agreed to give
the IAM the towers. at the time the towers were doh and after the IAM took them over they went class.
so that should be applied now . if you have no fleet class then your date should be adjusted. the company
or union should give those affected the opportunity to go back to C/S to keep there time or if they choose
to stay then they start with class time.

They preach ''the good of the group'' but when
they are voted out they lose all interest in union activities. Look
at PHL we don't see a United presence at the hall since US took
over through a vote. We don't see past leaders even in passing.
Locally JH (past top steward) hasn't been to a union meeting since
being voted out. We need a group of elected workers to be group
oriented and not self interest focused and we may have found that,
we'll see. Canale didn't run against Delaney as he huffed and puffed,
how dare we question him and his mostly appointed group.

Congrats to the group for making a change and lets hope that
when or if we question this leadership they remain group oriented
and not offended by our concerns.

I ask all past union leaders, where have you gone ? Were still a union
but I don't see you (are most out-spoken)....are you still union ? or were you just YOU'n ?

Perv ,
You hit the nail on the head. Same thing going on in CLT. You got the sour grapes gang
that obviously isn't or wasn't really concerned about the membership but only about there status and
cushy positions. They not only don't want to help the membership, they try at every opportunity to undermine the
current leadership. But you know what thats ok cause people now see them for who they really are and that
is .
"It's all about me and if I can't have it then the H*ll with everyone else. " I get people telling me all the time
thanks for bringing in people that care and WANT TO FIGHT FOR THE MEMBERSHIP.

Regarding Seniority, the only fair way to get this problem child dealt with is by DOH in the classification.

For example;
1. If you hired on the ramp, whether you were USAir, Piedmont, psa, hp, fulltime or parttime, your DOH should be used for all bidding purposes.

2. If you were hired in Customer Service, the Tower, or anywhere else that isn't a ramp function and transferred to the ramp, your first day on the ramp is your DOH.

That is the only way that the seniority system can be handled in a way that is fair for all. That being that your first day hired on the ramp is your DOH.

Some of the tower functions in CLT are ramp, they are all ramp leads, they were ramp uniforms.

If that is the best that the iam could come up with, with the exception of one of them, we are still in big trouble. Especially with the name at the top.
