IAM Fleet Service Thread

Awlright… all Fleet Service readers…

My suggestion is this…

We all know M&R reached ahh tentative.... let’s just sit back ‘n watch tha rest of tha process unfold, in terms of their ratification vote.

Personally, I’m not concerned with whut they may get… or may not get…

However…we should watch their thread…’n… evaluate their T/A thoroughly!
We should compare their T/A… with all other legacy carrier industry standards regardin’ M&R groups.

We… as Fleet Service, should ask fer tha same... 'n be focused on one thang…and that's gittin’ ah Fleet Sevice, Legacy Carrier Industry Standard Collective Bargaining Agreement, with COC!

This means pay, and benefit “parity†with all other Legacies…such as…
United, Delta, Northwest, and Southwest… for comparable Fleet Group compensation.

Do not let "certain people" convince yahh of anything less than than tha above mentioned standards!

I just recently heard ahh IAM officer… who used tahh be on tha Fleet Service Negotiations Committee… make ahh statement, to tha effect that we (Fleet) should include ...“Air Tran†(@ $11 ‘n some change per hr.) into our pay parity formula!

My advice is… Do not waver…do not relent…stay solid…we will see this thang thru!

P.S. Mr. Jester….excellent, and comprehensive counter post tahh mahh “fuzzy math†post !... I’m still awaitin’ Mr. Farce’s counter post tah this mathematic formula !

INFORMATION ON THE HUB:

23.43 - 9.18 = 14.25 % The M&R group was taken by more than 14.25% MORE than the fleet was. So the offers are going to be very different. Its just basic math guys.
So I guess using your (it is about the mechanics) logic the dispatchers and Training Instructors should get far lest then anybody. you need to get over yourself and realize that management does not care about how long you have been unioniz

I was just wondering does the guy who does the engine changes and say the hydraulics systems get paid the same as the guy who shows up on my gate and checks the air in the tires and the oil in it? I bet even a dumb old fleet worker could check the air and oil in it....lol

Fleet service held on to its cards and the company just played another one of its cards by giving the mechanics a wage/benefit % increase, in the midst of oil approaching $120 barrel. This has changed the environment so Randy Canale must 'get with it' and clean up his proposal to rightfully reflect what was just defined by the company as both affordable and fair. Remember, Randy Canale keeps short changing fleet and telling you implicitly that the company can't afford some of the things you need. But look up to the scoreboard and see what the company thought was affordable for the mechanics and you will see that what the network of solidarity has been saying all along was true. The company can afford it and you deserve it.

Cheat sheet for fleet:
wages:
$20hr 2008
$20.60 2009
$21.22 2010
$21.86 2011
$22.52 2012
$23.20 2013

Shift differ: .51
Vacation: Up to 5 weeks
Holidays: up to 10
Double time: immediate
Pension increased to: $1.25
West protections: Grandfather all current west employees so nobody would lose their job due to outsourcing. This includes all current east and west stations.
60 day rule eliminated in its entirety.

A few housekeeping matters to tend to first.
1. You are just as worthy as any other employee [insert mechanic, pilot, Parker, etc] to receive the same vacation, wage increases, holidays, etc. If any other employee group comes on this fleet service thread to preach down to us in his/her elitist voice then that person should be marked.
2. These transition negotiations have nothing to do with how long you have been paying dues.
3. These transition negotiations have nothing to do with how much a particular group gave up in bankruptcy. Every group is starting post bankruptcy....that's the starting point of any gains. It isn't about what you had, it's about what you are getting going forward.

What the network of solidarity considers as fair
1. Wages: $20hr. I realize this is a low figure when compared to the immediate 16% extra wage/compensation offered to the mechanics. I realize many want $21+ when we consider industry standards but I think $20hr would be doable if the wage was protected with the future increases listed below.
Further, instead of our negotiations team asking for only 2% wage increases for 2009, 2010, 2011 and NO increase thereafter, the following should now be expected since it was affordable for the company to give to the mechanics: 15% future wage increase made up of 3% in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013. The company had the money to give these fair increases to higher paid workers so it naturally follows that it also has the money to give these future increases to you and your family. There's now no reason why a mechanic should get a 3% yearly pay raise while a ramp rat only gets 2%. We can't afford to let other groups start to distance themselves from us again like before bankuprutcy. We must stand up for the same fairness.

2. Vacation: Keep what our negotiations team drafted. 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 14, 5 weeks after 22 years. Again, this is way below industry standards and I almost feel profane saying this but I think 5 weeks is doable. This is consistent with what the company thought was fair for other work groups.

3. Holidays: Why didn't Randy even ask for immediate holiday increases? WTF? I mean, the company just gave the mechanics a few more holidays this year and up to 10 by 2011. C'mon Randy what are you thinking??????????? You keep telling us we aren't going to get them but then why does every other work group have more than us, including the non-union people? ASK FOR IMMEDIATE HOLIDAYS CANALE, THIS IS BULL CRAP!

4. IAM Pension: Amazingly, Boss Canale left the pension page blank as he implicitly agreed with the company that you should have no future pension increases. WTF? The company decided to up its contribution level to the mechanics to 6%-7% which means that the company's able to up fleet's IAM pension plan to $1.25 as opposed to the current $1.05. Randy just didn't even bother negotiating this item.

5. Double Time: keep what our negotiations team proposed but move up the schedule so there is some immediate relief.

6. Scope: Keep current union proposal BUT grandfather all current employees in those 19 stations [plus the 1 or 2 east stations affected] so that all current members are protected. In any case, no current member should be unprotected due to subcontracting.

7. 60 day rule is an insult, it should be eliminated in entirety.

Give Ups
1. COC- This is a big giveup. It will boost wages to $21.43 upon merger, and up to $26hr and highest paid in the industry after just a few short years. Big investor needs this.
2. Profit sharing: big investor needs this.
3. Contract duration extension: big investor needs this.

In closing, i realize many of you think we should get more than what I have written here. I do too but considering Parker's boy is our chief negotiator right now, our alternative is to wait till he's finally removed or accept a TA no less than above.

Mr. Nelson....

Checking the oil and the air is part of a daily check which every plane has to get their is a job card that has to be stamped and signed off as well as the logbook.

Last time I checked Fleet doesnt have a license to sign off the logbook and verify the plane is airworthy.

Mr. Nelson....I have tahh concur…

Throw in DOH…’n w might have ahh deal!
What's really plain to see now is how Boss Canale blatantly lied by implying the work groups didn't have any leverage since they lost the CIC. Didn't the mechanics lose the CIC also?

Although the vast majority [87% east, and 65% overall] set Boss Canale straight about his pathetic proposal that was voted down ["The best he could do Proposal"], at this point, it is clear to see how bad it was in light of what the company determined was affordable for the mechanics. Boss Canale gave up profit sharing, CIC language, extension, and threw members from 19 stations under the bus for just $19 bucks an hour, no additional vacation, an extra nickel in the pension, and some IOU's

Another thing to note. Most mechanics are solid people who don't talk down to fleet workers. I think the one mechanic on here who is talking down to fleet workers might not be a mechanic but rather a former utility guy. At any rate, I'm glad I haven't read any fleet service workers saying mechanics shouldn't be entitled to a bigger IAM Pension than fleet on the basis that fleet is currently in the IAM pension and has been for 5 years. Good for the mechanics if they get their pension increased, they deserve it. Just means fleet should ask and get an increase also. I still can't believe Canale didn't even ask for one.

Tim,

If, and that's a BIG if, we get what you propose, I would have to re-consider my way of thinking. But canoli has to grow some cajones to get this done. We will see if the "April Showers bring May Flowers" so to speak. But I do not want to wait 6 months to a year to have my pay brought up.

guys,
it really looks like uncle AL is starting to get a little nervous.. 3 meetings in 4 months.. H*ll couldn't get him to even sit down with us for almost 2 yrs..

amazing.. It just tells me the He really needs this unskilled uneducated workforce some kind of bad. or else he would have moved on to the Flt Attend.

things that make you go Hmmmmmm..

Randy if you need some advice on how to neg .. give the 142 neg team a call. I'm sure they will tell you how to B*tch s*ap Uncle Al..

Ya’ll… my Dad (Retired) wuz M&R…

Ain’t got nuthin’ ‘ginst um…

His hard work paid tha bills fer us…but… I ain’t about tahh let this Fleet Group git isolated by anybody!

Vote New Direction!

Folks,

Who's to say that the sandcastle doesn't already have a "partner" lined up for the consolidation dance? That could be why AH wants these things out of our CBA pronto. Because no other groups on the property have the CIC language in their CBA's. They were all removed during BK2 I believe. Somehow ours and MTC got overlooked.

More things that make you go HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

What I did was mimic the % wage and benefit raises that the company found affordable for other groups. And if the company can afford them for one group then it naturally follows that they can afford them for another. Thus fleet service deserves it if we just use the new company crafted template.

With the new mechanic TA it is clear now for all to see how awful Canale's/Parker's TA was to fleet back in September. And the mechanic TA isn't even great and still might be voted down for more.
