In PHL I am being told that US gave 4 people OT as
a way to pacify the union for not doing the work
on the charter. It left from the ''old'' overseas terminal
and that area is where Atlantic Aviation has ramp workers
who are also members of the IAM. Now, don't jump on me
but I know Atlantic was asked by the local lodge not to
perform the work but thier local rep said it was thier work
and they would do it. The company gave out OT to 4 people
for the work as a peace offering but no one knows what 4
people received the OT as its' been mentioned GS may
have hand picked the 4 names instead of coming off the
authorized sign up sheets.
We shall see...........

Just found out that GS will not be at the District Convention. Scratch line "72".

well if there were 4 picked for the ot, that still doesnt justify for the lost work period the atlantic aviation should never had been awarded that work period

''well if there were 4 picked for the ot, that still doesnt justify for the lost work period the atlantic aviation should never had been awarded that work period''

''ROBBED'' your preaching to the choir. The problem is GS is
a left over piece from RC and had RC's back this whole time. He
also ,as a GC ,lied about this past agreement and his participation
in bringing it back. He had no opinion on it but his signature appeared
on the bottom of the letter. Bottom line is our bylaws state you must
have attended at least 6 meetings in one calender year to be nominated for a seat and GS ran unopposed and supported at the
local level to become GC Chair and has failed terribly.

Section 6 revisited (200th time)

Before I talk about section 6, I would like to lend a little credence
to the lack of crediblity to the outgoing crew. Here at my station
(greyhound terminal BF egypt) I've noticed a few things which
to me indicate a lack of union presence. Anybody wanting to know
particulars may PM me.

I think that the cornerstone of any CBA is the ability to threaten negotiations
with the section six protocal. What I would like to see is for DL 141
begin now to place an emphasis on this as a realistic option toward a
fair contract. We now, thanks to RC, have two more years to prepare.
What can we do? Here are as few ideas, perhaps naive, but nevertheless
they are intended as a start on the subject.

1. Begin educating the masses. What is section six, why is it important
what are the risks and what are the rewards? A little history would help,
for instance what the experience of us and other workgroups is this
regard. What effect does the RLA have on us?

2. Prepare the masses for a possible strike. Encourage, starting now, an
individual contigency fund. How bout $1,000 per person as a goal. That
comes out to about $250/yr until our first possible opportunity. This
would augment the 8 million the IAM probably doesn't want to risk for
us lowly rampers.

3. The largest potential for replacement workers comes from currently
employed contract workers. As much as possible they must be educated
to see how, #1, they could be disaterous to our effort . and , #2, they
may be hurting their own wages in the long haul by crossing picket lines.
But the best defence IMO is one on one contact with these people. Here
in BF egypt a lot of us are friends with many of the contract workers. If
they knew from a personal view of what is at stake my feeling is they would
be far less tempted to cross the lines. At any rate some strategy could
begin now. Traditionally the intimidation of the picket line has been relied
on, but I would suggest more can be done.

4. Alternatives methods of work actions during section six should be investigated.
The airline industry offers unique possiblities for work actions. The Alaska FAs
offer a great example of this.

5. Most of all we need to get the IAM on our side. IMO we now have 141 on our
side. One of Rich Delaney's stated policys is that Labor is not to assume responsability
for correcting the financial ills of the company either real or imagined.

Take care all. I'm looking forward to JAX.

Disclaimer: Athough the Bagdope may at sometimes appear like he works for an airline
he really "may or may not", But he is an increasingly proud member of the IAM. He
must also in all fairness admit to his fondness for any really fine BK22....BF

For someone who self-professes to have so much Passion trying to keep this airline afloat, you go and make fun of what

you believe might be the next financial disaster as if it were a joke!............ P.ss on U.....you once again have proven how

unethical you are..........Good Job.

MIGHT be ? MIGHT be ? what world are you living in ... this IS the financial disaster .... the one i told you was coming months upon months ago .... ...

today the dow dropped by 453 poinits ... i'm not shaking in my shoes ... and i'm sure most of you aren't either , althou i wonder if you understand the ramfications of what's happening now ..

yes i laugh at it ... pish , do you think i'm afraid ? i WAS afraid , i was scared like everyone else , but i've long ago passed through that stage ... and now i can laugh at it ....

i think the question some of you should be asking is how is the IAM pension built , where is the money , is it in stocks ? bonds , T notes ? is it safe ? i wouldn't be worried about 2 dollar dues increases if i were you .

Your discussion on AIG is the type of banter you would discuss in "The water cooler". It is not the current discussion nor does it add to fleet discussion. If you had facts, figures or research that directly relate to Fleet that you can add....do. If you can't then your discussion can better be addressed in "The Water Cooler".

I understand that you can be overwhelmed there and are more of a bright red Goldfish in a shark tank, but that is not our problem.

Stay on topic or Bu Bye
