any guesses on how long it will be before the company starts using that old ax in particular on the west if this merger goes thru
philly,
I live 40 miles from the airport and I went in on my day off just to vote....
I'm sure voting lasted more than 8 hrs....I'm sure they could have went b4 or after their shift....please stop with the excuses....
are you a little bitter brownie?Oh Yep, Before or After their 16 hr day they have to work to live!
If everyone voted off property: NO crying by me or b##tching either. All I am saying is we all vote the the same, period! I can deal with losing as far as playing fair. When you have a crooked DISTRICT 141 mob, controlling everything (opinion),(but obvious). THIS SUX!

Timmy, won't Parker ask the NMB to force the IAM into transition agreements instead of section 6? Thereby postponing section 6 this march. Wouldn't that make United workers hostage this March? Couldn't we come out ahead if we just did the following.....
shouldn't we decert the IAM to lose this contract, thereby eliminating transition talks off of our contract, and to FORCE the NMB to allow an election where we can elect the IAM in an election? We won't even have to do a card signup. I think many of us would go for this since we know there would be another election where we could just vote union back in and then be placed under their surviving contract since it will be the only one.
Many questions need to be answered but I think we can anticipate Parker's.

all you got to do is look at us Piedmont workers and see how we get low wages, stinking health coverage especially P/T health coverage that cvant be used hardly anywhere etc etc those are examples of what ol dougie would probably due to a non union worker group at US, bypassing a senior agent to a junior for a full time position as well as making up a full time for the junior agent are just examplesShould the IAM be Decertified we would have to wait at least a year before trying to get in another union.
What do you think Parker would do to this workforce without ANY Protections for any stations it would not matter where you worked YOU WOULD BE SCREWED!!!
Bingo.we need to get rid of thr crooked IAM leadership first, like Cheap Suites then go from there
Bingo.
Our focus is on changing the leadership. After the leadership change, there is much to do to keep busy. Negotiating contracts is just one aspect. There may be an election for the ticket counter workers and this could create a risk to their representational status, especially if layoffs happen.
The IAM organizing department will have its hands full enough with the Delta/NW merger.
NW ramp, and NW counter folks have a very high risk of losing their representation, IMO, because the IAM's organizing department is in sore need of having innovative and bright people who can actually get individuals to open their eyes and ears to them.
In DL141, PK is atrocious, so I am very concerned about losing the PCE folks from the IAM.
As aside, I have been told by 'many' that the anti New Direction site is run by KA. I certainly hope this isn't true as it is very unprofessional, poorly written, uses bad grammar, and 'absurd'.
It is quite laughable how the site claims that 1487 supports Randy Canale's Team 2008. Geez.
June 3rd will be impressive and I'll just leave it at that. K, tell me it isn't so?
regards,
Tim Nelson
IAM Local Chairman, 1487, Chicago
I have no idea who the 'keystone cop' was that was in charge of the delta campaigns but I was appaled at the 'entry level' campaign material. This DL/NW thing is going to be a "GO" and the IAM risks a very real possibility of losing ALL NW workers, practically 17,000 members. This unionized industry can not afford such an unaccountable blow.IT SEEMS GL ORGANIZERS AND DL ORGANIZER'S ONLY CONCERN AT THE MOMENT IS KEEPING THEIR PAY INTACT INSTEAD OF DOING THEIR JOBS TO ORGANIZE MORE WORKERS ESPECIALLY WITHIN THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY. WITH OUT ORGANIZING THE IAM'S FUTURE IS IN DOUBT. THE IAM GL LEADERS NEED TO RETHINK WHO IS IN CHARGE OF ORGANIZING IN THE GL AND DL AND GET SOME PEOPLE IN THERE THAT KNOW HOW TO ACCOMPLISH THE JOB.
