Have any stations posted the ramp bids for stations where we have both east and west? If so, are the bids similiar to what you had before integration or do you feel there is favoritism towards east or west?

RR

Can you be more specific? The next bid should be all together so how can it be favoritism?

Mike,

I wasn't saying that there was favoritism. I was just asking if anyone had noticed any. Although favoritism can easily be shown by putting the majority of the weekend slots on nights, because that is where most of west will be. There are all sorts of ways to play with the schedule to make it more favorable to either east or west.

I think the only station that's big enough to have a notable problem is here in LAS. All the other big stations (as far as I've known) either are all East or West or have such a small number of the smaller group that they'll effectivly disappear into the masses. LAS has probably an 80/20 split (guessing) and I don't think you'll see much of a problem, at least in regards to E vs. W. I think the staffing will blend in smoothly with only a handful of West employees being displaced, if any. The big fights are going to be 10 hour lines (we love them) and bidding for work areas (like bagroom, runner, etc.). Those fights will be with management, not the employees.

FLEET UPDATE
-------------------------------------------------

As has been reported to me… the top 329 Fleet Service Employees have a hire date and adjusted date the same. That stops at the 5/1/79 date!

There are 81 people that actually have the 5/1/79 hire date, with various adjusted dates. The bottom 2700, have a hire date and adjusted date the same!

It is very obvious from this simple observation… that 81 hard working Senior Fleet Employees have been excluded from “the fair and equitableâ€￾ portion of the Transition Agreement!

The GRIEVANCE will soon be filed! I suggest that all other affected Fleet Members join in with me!

Multiple grievances are great for making a point, but I favor simplicity. "Grievant and ALL OTHER AFFECTED EMPLOYEES" should work as well, with less paper and red tape. That said, I don't think seniority is a grievance. You need to PROTEST it individually.

the grievance will be denied since the fleet service workers agreed to this years ago. Those
pre-1979 members were old US AIRWAYS members, some of them are here in PHL. Also, this merged seniority list that contains adjusted dates can't be grieved and won since fleet service already agreed that it was acceptable.

Hear yahh Grad…

How do you propose that we document these “protests†and make them recognizable to the Company and Union… Can you… or I… for that matter… be assured that a simple “protestâ€â€¦ without any form of tracking, or reference numbers… not be lost in the shuffle, or swept under the rug?

I don’t think so… A protest… is like asking for the Company and the Union to adhere to an honor system! That... was recently tried with the Financial Institutions!

I think that will be up to an arbitrator to decide! The factors you cite were pre-transition… and thus not a factor in this valid grievance!

Janitor,

What fleet service workers are you referring too? When did fleet service agree that it was acceptable? I for one have never agreed to this seniority system.

The seniority system is contained in an article in the transition agreement that fleet service agreed to that recognized past seniority practices.

I don't have to propose it, the Company and Union already provided you with that. Attachment C of the TA:

6. Any protests to the integrated seniority lists must be filed in writing with the Company and the
Union within 90 days of the posting or other notice to the affected employees. Employees on
inactive status who return to active status shall have 90 days from the date they return to work
to protest the integrated lists. Seniority protests must be in compliance with the provisions of
Article 7.J of the US Airways’ Agreement.
7. All protests shall be reviewed by the Company and the Union. If the Company and the Union
are unable to agree on resolution of employee protests, those protests shall be submitted to final
and binding arbitration in accordance with Sections 3 and 13 of the Allegheny-Mohawk Labor
Protective Provisions.

I have no idea what defines a "protest", but I would imagine a certified letter would be acceptable, or perhaps an email CCed to the proper people. That would actually give you a chain for who it was sent to and when. Does anyone from the IAM want to throw in how to file a protest?

Hear yahh Grad…

I was aware of the protest language you cited. This was intended for individuals protesting typos, misprints, or inaccurate dates. I contend… that the integration list contains an undeniable infringement of the Transition Agreement. Specifically the “Classification date entryâ€￾… as well as “Fair and equitable integrationâ€￾ practices for at least 81 Fleet Members!

Therefore… the proper way to address this travesty, is through the Grievance Procedure.

Along with the 81 senior agents, there are thousands who did'nt get "Fair and equitable integration". No one has yet explained the fairness in some agents getting partial credit for part-time service, while others get full credit for part-time service on their adjusted date. If we don't address this now, then when? Has the New Direction 08 team come up with a plan of action?
