You are so correct.this whole contract should have never passed.

Thanks. Its tough, because we all deserve raises, but for those at out-stations, a raise comes at the cost of their job at one point or another. .
Thanks for the information, Bagchucker...
I will say this... I would rather have full-time hours to trade (and possibly even work), where I could trade for part-time hours, as in this economy, and frankly, the pay increase from the ratified CBA makes it worth while to pick-up the extra hours. In PHX, full-time ramp shifts fly off Workbrain during the week, and a steady P/T trading partner isn't difficult to find.
Frankly, when AW's topped out rate was around $15/hour after 14 years (and $10/hour at 6 years), the company could afford to keep ramp operations in-house as the costs of labor was insanely low.
I am directly affected by this recent announcement to discontinue Fleet at 7 of our system stations + the downsizing of LAS even more. Now that I have to live through this, I am realizing first hand how BAD our contract language really is. For those that are enjoying your raise in the hubs, you should feel lucky and fortunate that you will never have to suffer from the closing of a station.
Fulltime employees can choose to try to displace to one of the following cities: BOS, EWR, ORD, PHL, DCA, CLT, ATL.
Parttime employees can choose to try to displace to the following: same as above, plus RDU, MCI, and PHX.
What sucks is that I would like to fill a parttime vacancy, but cannot bid for it because I am fulltime. Going to one of the Fulltime displacement choices is not an option either.
$15 an hour and working, is much better than $0 an hour and being furloughed. If you are full or parttime and working, you can always pick up as many hours as you can handle. If you are full or parttime and not working, you can always pick up recyclables!
Rogue.....
No one has yet explained to me how the reduction in mainline flying into LAS or DFW would have saved anyone working under AW's TWU contract or using the language of the TWU contract in the IAM CBA.
TWU CBA Section 1B1 said:All Fleet Service Work covered by this Agreement shall be performed by Fleet Service Employees whose names appear on the America West Airlines, Inc., Fleet Service Seniority List...
true but this contract is the 08 when i was in abe we had the ch11 and then gone out the door but we did do a heck of a lot more work. but even to this day to get that one (05? contract) thru PVD and BDL were added to the list.??? this 08 contract was passed primarily by the west bc they got the raise $$$$ right away yet at the expense of losing cities. Im shocked that BUF is losing mainline I thought that that was similar to say ATLShould have Never Passed ?
We in the class II Cities should have NEVER been paid almost $5 less an hour than the Class I Cities. YES, it should have passed ! Equal Pay for Equal (We did much more work than Class I's) Work ! PERIOD
Robbed, YOU didnt have that opinion when you were in ABE !
I feel for LAS because I went thru this in the early 90's, but look at PIT, much more employees effected.

I think the thing we should be asking ourself isn't what was passed in '08 but what the hell the leadership has been doing since then to extend the protections that were do to expire at the end of this year.
