IMPRESSIONS OF INCOMPETENCE

All of these posts about cleanliness and properly working tools prove just how important having OSHA protection is. It's hard to believe that airline employees do not have this protection.
Cleanliness in the aviation arena is associated with maintenance, which is regulated by the FAA. Unless recently prodded, the FAA seems to support "promote aviation" more than "aviation safety", so get out there and prod in any manner you can.

After all, management, being naturally lazy, will get away with anything they can. It is up to the employees to constantly remind, in any way legal, management of what their job consists. They should not be allowed to expose their employees to injury (or even death) in their pursuit of profit.

The pictures are great.

Dont give the company any ideas, next thing you know your uniform will look like a nascar driver.

Guys,
just a heads up with a certain poster that goes by SIGNALS..

here's what's going on. Over on the fleet board we seem to get invaders for a certain anti labor that likes to come on here and fire everyone up . THE COMPANY is outraged by what is circulating that the UPPERS have assigned someone to sit on this board and try

and flood the thread. I for one think IT'S GREAT cause it just keeps it alive so MANAGEMENT CONTINUE ALL YOU WANT..

but my suggestion is just ignore this person . and continue your dialog around them .. anyways those that have posted the REALITY of this

airline good for you.. Those drinking the KOOLAID in the sandcastle . PLEASE GO BACK TO BURYING YOUR HEADS IN THE SAND..

ps.. DP .. your college internship program of upper management isn't working . try getting some REAL AIRLINE PROFESSIONALS and

maybe someday YOU'LL HAVE A REAL AIRLINE..

This is very true. To me, it is almost common sense. If the management does not believe in the "visual quality" of the product they sell, do they care at all? I'll be honest, I stopped flying US Airways for awhile because I flew on a 737-300 where the window assembly was loose, and the shade fell down behind the wall. My overhead lights were all inoperable. The engine made a terrible noise when it was pushed to full power. In my own mind, I immediately associated the quality of the interior with the "maintenance"... I did send a letter, in fact, I overnighted it to Tempe. They did reply, but not with the quality of a response that I would expect.

I am the CEO of a pretty small company, (170 full timers). We were voted the 11th best company in the state of PA to work for, up from the 21st in 2006. Our management team works very very hard to make sure that we have systems in place for all employees to have their voices heard. The same for customer complaints. In fact, I have sent letters to Southwest about various things - generally suggestions, and I have received replies which were CC'd to Gary Kelly. These are the same policies that we have within my company... I once sent a suggestion to US Airways, and was told, "while we like your idea, we are a low cost carrier, and must work hard to control costs". NEWS FLASH - ALL COMPANIES MUST WORK HARD TO CONTROL COSTS!!! A company with good management evaluates all perspectives and decides whether making an investment will INCREASE profits. My point is, US Airways is broken from the top down...

This thread is exactly what needs to happen, AND corporate needs to see it. I guarantee that they DO CARE. Nobody runs a company with the hopes that it will go out of business, or that competitors will do a better job and eat away at your marketshare. Improvements take time. I can't imagine how difficult it is to roll out changes in an organization as large as US Airways. Don't just assume that management doesn't care... Maybe they just need some help to see the light...

Can one take a roll of Duct Tape past TSA? Someone should get that Police Line Do Not Cross and tape off all the jetways.!

Here is an incompetence example:

Uniforms for West Fleet.

No allotment. Just "wait" 'til summer for the "new" uniforms. That is the answer we have to work with. Meanwhile, guys and gals on the ramp are in their street clothes making our airline a laughing stock around the airport we work at. Others have uniform pieces from America West, but they are tattered for the most part. This merger is approaching 3 years old now and no resolve on this issue, and from reading posts from other work groups, the uniform issue is a disaster there, too. C'mon Tempe, let's fix this, it truly is a charade and circus of embarrasment you folks are putting us through. Its cold in the morning, I want a jacket for cryin' out loud...

Tempe continues to exhibit ongoing examples of incompetence

1) Aircraft reconfigurations/standardizing wrong fleet (west rather than east)
2) The continuing Qik/Shares failure
3) Degradation of all service
4) Alienation of our best high fare passengers
5) Poorly thought out changes to Freq Flyer Program
6) Still not having Necessary A/C for China Service
7) Absolute ignorance of east passenger and service that is expected and needed
8) Keeping an IT department that only continues to prove it's incompetence
9) Inability to get new uniform program in place on time
10) No attention paid to aircraft appearance and cleanliness
11) Promises of new and improved and delivering nothing but disappointment
12) lot's of do overs since they couldn't get it right the first time

And this is just a start

And 3 more things to add to the Incompetence List

1) Another indefinite delay in new uniform roll out
2) Delay on profit sharing checks
3) Mistakes on W-2's that required corrections be sent out

Can this ship of fools do anything right except piss off and alienate our best customers and employees?

Okay folks, I’m starting to gather up some more Impressions of Incompetence. If you have some you would like to share and you’re not sure how to post them here, just email them to me at: n965vj@yahoo.com. I’ll post them and you can remain anonymous.

Here’s the US Club in CLT a few months ago:

Just an isolated example? I don’t think so.

Here’s the US Club in DCA taken in January:

Years ago the only time you would see furniture like this on US property would be in a employee smoking room, hidden away somewhere deep in the belly of the terminal. And even them there would be an aircraft blanket covering up all the grime.

Nice white stain, huh?

I have some aircraft pictures to post later, so stay tuned! And remember to share your Impressions of Incompetence with me at: n965vj@yahoo.com. You will remain anonymous and, heck, even my 92 year old Grandmother knows how to email digital pictures.

I'm sure that you are much too young to remember a rock band called The Who. Anyway in a song the lyrics go something like this:

It's the singer not the song
that makes us move along

FAs are the singers.

If there is incompetence at US, then lets head for the lowest common denominator. That would be.....

The Pin Heads drinking the Kool Aid and running the airline INTO THE GROUND in TEMPE

I remember another line from that song as well:

Meet the "new boss"
Same as the "old boss"

Arrogance and Ignorance........it's dangerous combination.

US Airways "Began with US"

Those pictures are pathetic  .....good lord no wonder we are referred to as the "trailer trash" airline. I'm soo embarrassed for us if we have to treat our elite flyers with conditions like this! If they cannot even buy decent chairs, how are they supposed to buy widebodies with the capability to fly to Asia! Wake up Tempe....spend that dime before it's too late!
