Ah!...Had a Lotus Elan in much earlier life....great fun, fantastic handling...but couldn't begin to match, much less take out even a good 'Vette in acceleration. Per the family responsibilites? Fully understood sir, and that hardly makes any "wimp" outta' you. At your point in life, imo; you would be shirking your proper responsibilites by gettin' yourself killed or crippled merely for sport. Among the few perks of becoming an old fart's the fact one no longer needs be reasonably cautious and responsible, outside of professional life, of course. "Been there/Done that"/etc. The 850 was essentially a poor quality after thought, and frankly just a desperate move by Norton. You did fine by missing that model. Should you wish a quality, restored original; the last year of the 750's your best choice....BS British electrical "system" and all. 😉 I'll never forget first seeing the windscreen on the BAE 146, which honestly contained a "proud" sign noting Lucas Electrics....I knew immediately, without any possible doubt, that she'd be an essential nightmare wherever elmo-the-electron was to be concerned. 🙂
What year was the Elan? I've spent some time behind the wheel of a 69' S4 Elan. I can't imagine flying a plane with Lucas (Prince of Darkness) electricals. I spent enough time working on a 59' AH 100-6 to know there's nothing as quite as a Lucas horn. 🙂

She was a '66, rather drab, Brit Racing Green painted, and indeed; you missed nothing good with the proverbial "light show", predictably presented by Lucas nightmares aloft. = "Oh goody! Hey! Let's do another CAT-whatever down to SAC fogged-in-crap...and enjoy the usual, but mostly-meaningless-amber-light-show and gentle pings, aural symphony!" Any with BAE 146 time know exactly what I mean here.  🙂

Whatever else is true: Ya' just gotta' admit the Brits knew (better than US then) how to make machines corner well though. While the little Lady Lotus couldn't hope to match 'Merican machines' acceleration..she'd take ANY 'Vette ever made in the tight turns. 😉 I suppose it's all akin to the Spitfire vs P47 philosophical differences.

First day of F-28 ground school the instructor said "Welcome to the F-28 electrical system, brought to you by Lucas, Prince of Darkness." Didn't feel too good about that but it was pretty advanced and automated for an airplane designed in the early 60's and don't remember having any issues with that system on the line. They must have kept the  ground Nigels and air Nigels separate. ;-)

I think Bill told that to every class.

The 60 day comment period does not prohibit consummation of the merger.  The company has indicated they intend to execute the POR during the week of 12/9-12/13.

Airline merger still likely next month despite antitrust order

"This is the way it works in every merger case," Denis said."We are now cleared to close the merger once Judge Lane signs off.
We are still planning to close in December. The notice and comment period runs separate from the closing of the transaction."

Yes, your commuter airline depends on a PHL and CLT to supply you with your flying and revenue. If you had any financial sense you might realize it is most likely the city with the highest yields for LCC. But we all know better than to think you had any financial acumen.

Nic,You're setting yourself up for a big disappointment. Number one, the APA will never be your friend. They will try to screw you anyway they can to protect the majority. They are not scared in the least about a law suit from some commuter pilots in PHX. Their position on integration will be that the west pilots are narrow body only pilots and should be slotted in with the east and APA narrow body pilots. Your save Dave will be slotted just below the new hire that was in the PHX crew news last week talking to Kirby. According to you that would be fair. You think your mad at the east, you haven't seen anything yet. APA will crush you.Skier
You are preaching to the choir.

By stating that the SLI will be "fair and equitable" all I am really saying is it will go to arbitration.

Whether I like the result or not is a completely different matter. But, the result of the arbitration will be "fair and equitable" and I will live with that result.

Unlike the whining malconts whose only arguments have been "it's not fair.....whaaaaaa"....oh, and that other great argument we see here often...."Grow up!". The later always cracks me up coming from the same people who have absolutely no regard for their own integrity, and basically took their ball home to hold their breath til they are blue in the face.

If your "legacy airway"  was in such great shape then why was it acquired by Parker's commuter airline?

"if you had any financial sense"......too funny coming from a uscaba supporter who helped cost his pilot group hundreds of million in lost wages.

Hey, here is another one....if you had any financial sense you might realize that by undercutting West pay, the company might just send all growth from the merger east.....er, um,,,,maybe you scabs are smarter than I thought!

You have a key to the Executive Washroom, and upon arriving on the inside you are complaining the faucets are gold instead of platinum. Be grateful at your luck that your entrance isn't as the attendant.

Tell us, how many PHX crews transit or overnight in PHL on a daily basis..... Yeah. 😉
