We're going to have to disagree on this one... While I can understand your feelings on the matter, and sympathize, I staunchly defend the word, it's definitions, (not just the modern usage) and the user's right to free speech.

In my estimation, misplaced emotion and ignorance (not a pejorative, I'm using the word to make a point) are primary causes of friction in modern society. When a society bans words and actions based on arbitrary feelings that they could cause when the hearer is ignorant of all the meanings, we degenerate into we have today. I cannot speak freely at my workplace because with an innocent slip of the tongue, someone might be offended, complain and I lose my job. I cannot help an elderly flight attendant out of the van, because if I do not offer the gay flight attendant behind her the same assistance, I am guilty of "sexual harassment". I cannot even put an arm of support around a woman with tears in her eyes, who just lost her husband to cancer, for fear of someone else reporting me for "sexual harassment".

All this because we as society have come to believe that we have the "right" to take another's freedom, i.e. control their behavior because someone doesn't like how it feels when they exercise that freedom. I do not believe that these are the "certain inalienable rights" that our forefathers fought and died for.

Finally, I am sorry that your feelings are hurt. I was not there and am not privy to the conversation or it's context. And while I can understand a request for "sensitivity", I stand by my original assessment. I don't think that it's worth getting all worked up about, just because someone is not familiar with all proper usages of a word.

Cheers!!! Keep the greasy side down!!!

What I have found out is the the actual words were "you wouldn't say that if your brother was trying to rape you." That does have a different connotation that "the east pilots are rapists."

That said, I do agree with part of what you say, but that is the world we live in. There are plenty of racist people in this country that would like to say "the X pilots are acting like N's." I think that would provoke and deserve immediate indignation. There are things that are considered unacceptable these days and the line is not always clear. But, as a representative of our pilots I do feel that, at least in front of the APA president, the comment was inappropriate and too far reaching.

how is your limited understanding of the word ANYBODY else's problem? In fact your cheering on of USAPA would actually make you a hypocrit.

Your ignorance makes you, well, you know. I have called may reps on the carpet many times for what they've said. Send an email to the CLT reps and ask them for the top ten thorns in their sides and my name will be on it. Oh, that's right, you don't work here and don't have access to their email.

Let's examine that, shall we? Your notions of "integrity" extend to wanting to see a 3 month/new-hire placed permanently ahead of a person with 17 years continuous service...based purely on "expectations" and a "snapshot in time"...? Do I have that right...? Ok then. Captain Sullenberger made two trips down the aisle of a slowly (but who then knew?) sinking aircraft to ensure none were still aboard. He afterwards found his worst fears were that some person(s) might, just possibly, have been lost and not yet accounted for....and your big concern here is that he didn't much care for your greed-soaked, nic fantasies in some courtroom? I see.

Seriously: Who tha' heck are you to even be talking about his integrity?...Or even integrity in general? It's noted that you've no apparent objection to one of your precious and precocious own lying his arse off here. Why don't you start your holy crusade to ensure universal "integrity" by first addressing that?

perfectly said, sir!

If it is over why is usapa begging the west to negotiate?

Just get it done. You guys wanted to be the union, you are in charge you have the responsibility and you say silver gave you the right. Get to it.

Stop begging. Stop trying to get the west to help you murder us just do it.

Submit a list and your legitimate union purpose and let the legal results happen. I can't wait to hear Parker reaction to your list.

Submit it it already if its over. Oh it is just a proposal. It's not quite over yet.

I just flew a trip with a union rep.....no begging going on in the East. This 2 day meeting has a lot to do with the next strategy......begging not included.

Oh, one more thing. When you insult someone without knowing what you are talking about AND spell the word wrong, it makes you look stupid.

B.S. I've been sympathetic to some of the west's thoughts and have respect for many west pilots and one west poster on here, but the behavior of many posters on here and some west reps is no better and maybe worse than those on the east.

If a west rep actually did call us rapists that is uncalled for and they should be removed unless an apology is issued. Do you know anyone that has been raped? I do, and it ruined her life.

The third definition of rape, according to dictionary.com: an act of plunder, siezure or abuse; despoilation, violation.

That was an appropriate summation of the east's actions since the Nicolau decision was made.

The bigger question is, if it really happened, what are YOU going to do about it? There is no way I would hear a report about one of my reps saying something like that and NOT do something about it. Again, IF it happened, that is completely out of line and very damaging to ALL US pilots.

That comment of your's says all that needs to be said about your integrity.

Check the dictionary, bubba. Our rep used an appropriate term and we stand behind him.

There is no requirement for a joint contract in the TA to determine the seniority list at LCC.

There is a requirement for a joint contract to implement "operational pilot integration" and move off of separate ops with the already completed SLI.

In other words..seniority is done....one operating certificate...done...operational pilot integration...awaiting joint contract that usapa and the company are colluding to avoid.

You can explain it, tell him where to read the appropriate documentations until the cows come home. Still won't believe you.

Good job Ames....

And the sonic boom was heard all the way to CLT where the scabs at usapa stood with shiit on their faces.

Look for usapa to be purged from the West in another round of explosive diarrhea when the litigation hold is ordered.

Thanks, nic, but I think that could only be accomplished by Pizza the Hut.

We there goes the 2 ounces of respect I had for you. As the father of father of 3 daughters it is a word that is in the back of my head all the time and not one to be used lightly. I don't like "sumbag", but "rapist" is a whole different thing.

You are absolutely correct that it can have great shock value, but that is not always a good thing. Think of the times that one statement or one image can change history. The picture of the Vietnamese girl running naked after a napalm attack or the twist on Romney's "binders of women" come to mind. I know you guys think the whole world sees your group as helpless victims. Let me tell you they don't. Most I know look at all of us and shake their head. If this was told to the leader of the APA then I think it was a huge mistake.

I cannot believe you guys would defend that. If it was a slip of the toungue in a heated debate then I get it, but it should be acknowledged and apologized for .

I have two daughters who I am very concerned about. That said I am intelligent enough to know that words have multiple meanings and I think you are getting all worked up because you are desperately looking for anything you can to disparage the west and its reps. We support our guy. Get over it.

PS: expand your vocabulary.

1) No possible surprise there. You would support freshly floated pond scum if it even smelled of the nic.

2) By which you mean adopting such elegant terms as your effusively employed "eastholes" and such expressive excellence as "bubba" and "Pizza the Hut" one must assume? You're a true paradigm for the perfection of "vocabulary". Honestly... As a character?.....You couldn't even be believably written into kid's comic books either.

Ames: "That said I am intelligent enough to know...." We'll just have to take your word for that, it seems. Your sorry correspondence alone offers some issue of doubt.

Gee thanks, but my vocabulary is fine. If you can remember, or go back and look, I put a big old capital IF in there. I realized that the back and forth was taking a bad turn and I shut up and went to the source. Hence the last reply.

I don't understand your support for Ferguson except that he is 100%, without exception on the west side. Thing is, I think his words hurt instead of helping you guys sometimes. His words prior to and during the last elections assured his defeat, and I think that may come back to haunt you.

If Ames comes out and actually tells us how he knows Yeager, ( you said something about flying him once "in the back") you will likely look like an idiot.
.

I'll come clean for Nic: Years ago a very good friend of mine was a flight test engineer at Edwards. He had flown with Yeager and they were acquaintences. While visiting my friend he introduced me to Yeager. Spent the better part of an evening with them. At the time I was a civilian, attempting to get into medical school and it was Yeager who influenced me to consider flying. When I was rejected from med school for the second year in a row I joined the Air National Guard and the rest is history.

Met Yeager again at a dining in where he bought me a drink afterward and yet again when he was passing through McConnell AFB while I was in F4 RTU. He was very pleased to see me "in the bag". He said, "f.... that doctor #### - you got a real job, boy".

Can't claim to be best buds but I do feel qualified to say the guy has an ego and he would be the first to tell you that "if you got no ego you won't do s..t".

... Says the easthole who has no idea who I am and has never seen my resume. As usual, speaking out of his ass.

You have broken the "sound barrier", in an airplane? Cool, I haven't.
