In better times the China route would be a wonderul route for us! We don't have the staffing in Phl to even handle 1/3 of our flights. New hires are quitting left and right. Part time international agents are mandatoried almost daily until the next morning and are dropping like flies. We can't get gate space from the DOA and have to use people movers at times. The F/A , pilot, mechanic and fleet groups are hostile operating seperately with Labor moving like a snail.
We have the arbitrators shocking award, fleet with the change of control grievance, west metal flights cancelling due to no reserve crews daily, the list goes on and on and on.

Reality check here to all that reads this board. Without our house being in order, it is unfair to the customers that fly our airline and abused employee groups in our company to even fathom another venture into the abyss.

You forgot POS SHARES

No food let us know so we can get catering on the line but this constant moaning of how the airline sucks just QUIT ALREADY!!

Yeah, right. America's Worst does not hold up flights because of catering issues--not sufficient catering, so sorry. The old US was very different. I can't tell you how many SAN-PHL flights I was on where they would go out an buy FC food because of catering screwups and hold up the plane. America's Worst would never do that. America's Worst could care less that 1 tonic water can is loaded on a 5pm 5 hour flight with 26 FC seats filled.

I got sent something from usair asking me to sign a petition to support the China service. Forget it. Having flown in Business Class on Lufthansa, El Al, DL, AA and CO to Europe and the Middle East there is no way I would ever EVER support this bid. Usair's service is now along the lines of People's Express-no offense to the employees. You are not given the tools you need for this to be a first class product - everyone knows the employees have continuously tried to communicate with management over and over again for the past several years about what is needed to compete in the airline industry but the company's only response it to hire number crunchers whose sole job is to cut costs again and cost the company hundreds of customers. I still have friends who fly for usair and they are all actively seeking employment elsewhere despite having put in 20+ yrs in some cases. I have actually heard it likened to working in a cancer ward.

Management-or whatever you call yourselves- you need to fix what is broken in your house before you seek to replace your failed attempt at a merger with DL with a slow boat to China. There is nothing first class about this airline-thanks to you. No glassware, dirty, duct taped airplanes, broken lavs, employee moral is the absolute lowest in the industry and basically, customers have no faith in this airline.

Next Stop...NOT CHINA!

Hi folks...you might know me from the other boards.

Sorry guys, if they can't get an 737 off the ground for CLT-PHL, I'm giving the vote of ZERO confidence in China service.

I'm starting a campaign... I'm collecting names and sending a meaningless letter full of unverifiable signatures to the DOT just like US Airways is

Join me if you wish. Please don't flame me if you're against me. Just seeking support.
May I recommend you start a petition AGAINST Northwest Airlines China Service.

Are you kidding me?

"Let us know up front blah blah"- do you really think that cabin crew didn't inform the flight deck that they were about to embark on a ten hour flight without food? The company (America West's wonderful management) felt it was OK to send it in that condition rather than prepare another set of catering. As usual, they waited until the crew went illegal to re-crew it and no one bothered to tell catering not to throw out the meals on the returned flight. Same with the blocked toilet- since the merger this type of thing has been deemed acceptable. You are correct that there is no excuse for any of the above. Attempting to blame it on crews is pretty lame, but maybe in the low cost world crews make catering and plumbing decisions and that's the viewpoint you are coming from.

It's a little more complicated than getting on the horn in Vegas for a gizmo bag of tit-bits or whatever for the haul to Tuscon.

The company made the decision to send these flights and many others in these conditions. The international schedule leaves late or cancels every night due to piss-poor aircraft and crew planning, and widebody aircraft (those are the big ones with two aisles) are sent across the ocean with catering fit for an RJ.

You're a flamebaiter so I won't entertain your comments too much, but our transatlantic operation never looked like this pre-merger. In fact, only a few short years ago we won best cabin staff, best economy class, and best business class for North America. I can assure you seven hour delays, cardboard boxes and human sh*t did not win those awards. I can only hope you are joking or being ironic when you refer to America West being dragged down.

Why don't you QUIT ALREADY since all you do is moan about your new co-workers who vastly outnumber you. You clearly have a very lonely and difficult career ahead of you.

West has very little to do with the East operation in terms of catering and maintenance. Those dispatch decisions are made by the OCC in PIT, not the west dispatch. If a toilet is blocked off, this is a maintenance decision and i'm surprised anybody let that happen given the overflowing toilet situation with 757. Don't have food?? I think catering, Inflight, and East Product Specialists are the persons responsible for this, these decisions do not come out of PHX on a "right now" basis.

I agree that this years transatlantic operation has been really bad and its' mainly because they weren't ready to take on new destinations but did so anyway. It wouldn't have been so bad if the employees would have been told in advance to "be prepared".

I really do understand how bad it can be in the East somedays and it's frustrating for you guys, you deserve a bonus! I just think that once this summer is over w'ell start to see things improve vastly

If you think US Airways is going to take you seriously as you fake signatures(that's all you can do as you stated yourself: "I'm collecting names and sending a meaningless letter full of unverifiable signatures to the DOT", you won't have much support), then you are further degrading yourself and showing everyone how big of a joke you and the groups you represent are.
This reminds me of a snot nosed kid on a big wheel posting here about a month or so ago that he's going to give all of his A&B certificates to his girl toy flight attendant friend. I don't know lobjaw, but that act sounds just as fake to me....gee I wonder if US is taking you seriously!! Not that that would be an astounding event.....US doesn't take anyone or anything seriously these days.

You keep your grand illusions flying high kid, and someday when you grow up....just be prepared for the big dose of reality that's headed your way. In the meantime.....just keep praising what a wonderful company this POS airline is....you're doing a good job of showing everyone what a joke you are!!

Well you certainly know how to STIR THE POT, I hope your posting sits well with the SENIOR FOLKS at both US AIRWAYS and AMA, there are lots of folks that depend on the sucess of this airline. So you think just because you have an opinion that you can post STOP CHINA, OPIOIONS are just like A$$holes everyone has one.

What a joke!
Speaking of jokes, how long are you going to be picking corn over on that other web site? Rumor has it that it is going to be a very long time.

In a sick sort of way I miss your post full of inaccurate statements and incoherent thoughts. I'll be looking forward to seeing you again under your newest name.

I'm collecting names and sending a meaningless letter full of unverifiable signatures to the DOT just like US Airways is

Just to clarify, the "meaningless letter full of unverifiable signatures" statement was a jab at the US Airways online petition. A true legal petition requires a physical signature, a verifiable form of identification, etc.

True to what I said, my petition and that of US Airways in support of the China route holds as much water as a leaky toilet on a 7-dirty-7 out of Charlotte, which is to say very little.

US Airways' petition is more or less a publicity move, just as the other airlines' petitions are publicity moves. They're meant to draw attention to their application for service in the court of public opinion and, since the "signatures" (if you can call them that) cannot be legally verified, are irrelevant at the hearings. They're just putting your name into a database and filling out a letter on your behalf...that's it. Just like I am.

My statement was meant to point this fact out, openly declare this about mine, and request signatures to show just how many people are, in fact, against the service. Surely, it's not scientific, but I will be sending a letter to the DOT with everyone's name on the bottom of it, along with a spreadsheet with all of the data.

Sure, honesty might hurt my chances of deceiving some support out of some people, but I'm a person of integrity and I call them like I see them.

So how can you possibly take on China ?

Welcome to US Aviation, bryan240sx! What an entrance you have made!

If you need someone to proofread your letter for grammar and spelling, just PM me, and I will be happy to correct any errors.

It is not my job as a customer to check toilets and catering before a flight takes off, BTW. I think that the US employees ARE already checking and reporting, as mentioned in a previous post, but someone is not listening! And for that, I am very sorry that you are not being listened to.

I have not yet signed any US petition for or against the China route, but I will say that US in its current state of operations cannot successfully pull off another international route. I sure hope things will improve, so if they do, someone come get me out of the Continental Presidents Club and let me know! 😛
