Strike Now

Yep, a strike would sure change things. It would certainly solve the industry-wide problems of too little revenue and too many expenses.

Remember the little party in Boston a few years back. This cut throat game of ticket pricing that airlines are playing with each other won't be solved without some type of reregulation. Walmart can't sell merchandise for less than what they pay for it but an airline can have predatory pricing and its legal. The FAA and the Federal government seem to have forgotten there are safety issuse involved here. The government will step in when Walmart goes into a small community and starts predatory pricing but its okay for airlines to operate this way.
Airline management can't get a grip on the situation as it is but a wild cat might be what it takes to wake up Bush.

They will come back for more, and more and more again.

That's the nature of the beast that has consumed us all. There is no escaping and staying, there is just escaping. Those of us able to retire before the next round will be the lucky ones, the rest will fall to the sword.

Delta got 33%, and they're still threatening a trip to BK court. Northwest and AMR are watching cautiously. The unions are hopeless.

The passengers are Lovin'it, buying up internet fares for less than a NYC cab-fare.

Yes; that guy in 32B, we know why you're flying, because it's cheaper to fly than to stay at home this weekend.

It's over, save your money.

Would you call UAL's Avolar a smooth move? It cost the airline millions upon millions because of a moronic management decision. How about the UAL ESOP? Management hookwinked them again, huh?

I think your tie is a little tight, its cutting off your pea brain blood supply.

Call up your buddy cAArty and see if he has anymore airlines he wants to buy.

Yeah, unions are tired.......of management dupes like you.

CALLING ALL AIRLINES!!! ALL UNIONS WALK FOR A WEEK!!!

There shall be no threats or implied threats of violence.

The last person that did that has yet to post another message on this board.

i think you forgot to delete the threat of a baseball bat on page pne BILL

Bill, how about deleting the entire thread on the basis of pure stupidity?

As I was a passenger flying at a bumpy 27000 ft this w/e, I kept wondering if the aircraft was worked on by a $16/hr mechanic or a $30/hr mechanic. I wondered if it makes a difference since it is a profession. I wondered if safety is routinely jeopardized at the lower rate. I think in the long run it does and somtimes it is.

I didn't care what the pilots made. They were doing a great job and for the duration of the flight, they were worth every red cent.

I am safe on the ground waiting for my stomach to catch up with me. Until it does, thanks no matter what you get paid.

Yeah, and yours is also appropriate for a BMW drivin' management slacker who's only worried about his tee-time on friday afternoon following a two hour power lunch and a few martinis.

Pull together-win together. 😉

First off Hackman, Avolar was a good idea at a bad time. I'm sure that you don't realize this, but fractional ownership is skyrocketing right now for many reasons. they WERE your high paying passengers that did not mind paying full fare to travel.

Secondly, to Scorpion, prove to me that Southwest is involved with predatory pricing. How are they making money and turning a profit if that is the case?

These boards are very entertaining at some times and very disturbing at other times. I wish people could look at the big pictureand know what they are talking about. Again, a strike does nothing to the public but drive them away. And guess what, you're out of business, the LCCs get stronger and not weaker. Remember, they will not strike, they know better.

You speak of the ole' pre-regulation days. I am quite sure you won't find management out to lunch drinking martinis...Seems like you are stuck in the old days...just like unions. Unions have outlived their welcome...just IMHO.

By the way, I don't drive a BMW...just a Geo Metro for me..I don't get paid the big bucks 😉

For one I never mentioned southwest, that was your choice,
secondly if an airline is loosing money it can only mean one thing, they are selling seats for less than what they have in them. As far as southwest is concerned are you saying they make a profit on every route they fly?
