this is addressed to any in the know out there.

What's up with the attendance arbitration inquiring minds would like to know.

also the insurance arbitration where are we at with this also.

Tim, goodfellow, charlie brown, Joe Dirt anyone want to take a stab at it.

maybe Roa has a handle on it.

It's funny, thinking back on it now, but this is the first job I've ever had where all of my hard work, extra effort, attentiveness, and job skills have amounted to exactly jack squat. Here mediocrity is rewarded just the same as magnificence.

I've had union and nonunion jobs. To a job they ALL rewarded hard work with more work. Even back in the "Good 'ol pre merger AWA days" it was the same way. The harder you worked the more flights you were given, and unless you went out and drank with your supervisor you didn'tt get a raise and would get written up for misconnecting a bag even though you've run twice as many bags as everyone else. AWA (and presumably every other airline) ASKED for unions by treating their employees like crap. It's not a union thing, it's an industry thing.

I'm wondering as well. The New Direction was voted in, in part, on the premise that they would communicate better. It's really a shame that we're not worthy of communication, nor promises being kept, unless we're working for United.

'doing it on my knees',

What other stations are open to bid into?

Rogue

I know PHL is a given, but I can't say where else, 'cause I haven't gotten the bid packet yet. I'm on vacation and my coworker text me with the CLT news, because she knew that's where I wanted to go. Can tell you for sure next week, but I'm sure someone on here will let you know before then.

I was told by MF the other day they are filing multiple grievances on attendance and are waiting an arbitrator and getting at a date set

If anyone really needs to know why unions are needed in the airline industry, ask the East workers what the company did to them back in 1992.

Also ask yourself why the airline industry is one of the highest unionized industries in the US, must be a reason.

O-Man... all I know thus far is that arbitration hearings were held in PHX a few weeks ago... Goodfellow or Redeye would be the ones in the ‘know’ on this matter.

It’s good to be back on this forum after ahh long hiatus! We gonna have tahh throw down again soon... Tell Nelson tah put on his drinkin’ shoes!

Oh you know it! I'm on vacation right now. The headchopping meeting in ICT is July 21. I get back there on the 23rd and fill out my bid packet for CLT. I feel terrible for my co-workers, but being that CLT was one of the stations open to bid into, this really works in my favor. I can be in CLT as early as SEPT.

I hear yahh knees...

You are welcome here in CLT brother! When you get here, be sure to get all your paperwork in order with the Local 1725. Attend meetings with us... and practice unionism with us!

If I can be of any assistance...please feel free to PM me.

The truth …..

They say the truth will set you free ….. Personally I doubt it , more like the truth will shake you to your very core and leave you hollow inside ..

Us airways will continue to die , unless magic fairies carpet bomb our country with 100 dollar bill’s from the sky the us consumer is toast baby !

Freedom...

I love your optimism! I’ve been through all this before... since the 70’s actually. We herd all the same arguments back then. Unemployment was through the roof etc. Iran was holding American hostages... we had experienced a gas shortage along with rationing... most of the clergy firmly believed that we were actually in the beginning of Armageddon!

Now... fast forward to today... same gloom ‘n doom! Pessimism is actually a profitable emotion if you know how to play! That’s how your Wall Street buddies have been getting rich for decades! “Buy Low... Sell Highâ€! Unfortunately, WE ain’t “Wall Street Buddiesâ€! Now... don’t you think it’s time to utilize every tool at your disposal to survive and prosper in these uncertain times?

Think ahead in the “macro†(Your word, not mine) sense. Globalization of our economy has already occurred... much to our detriment! Major Airlines with an international presence will be more significant in this Global Economy than ever before in the history of commercial aviation!

Look for an emphasis by the Majors to capitalize on this demographic by expanding internationally, along with inevitable consolidation, which will more than likely include you! This will process will probably be coupled with domestic route reductions, as you are seeing today.

This industry will continue to evolve... your best buddy ain’t gonna be Wall Street... it will be your UNION!

Your best buddy will be your education and job skills... the IAM isn't going to save your job or your salary if US closes tomorrow. It isn't going to save your job if your seniority isn't high enough to hold a line when the cuts are made.

If, for whatever reason, you lost your job tomorrow... realistically, what could you make, assuming there is even a decent economy? That, My Dear Mr. Roadabilly, is the question you should ask yourself. I can most assure you that the most fervent supporters of the IAM are those people who are most vulnerable to a 50% pay cut should that reckoning come, as clinging to an IAM life line because that is all they will allow themselves to achieve. It smells of desperation... as well it should.

We will now return to the regularly scheduled programming of Doctor Who and IAM Groupthink Lovefest now in progress...

Dear Gentle (Super witty) Jester...

We have had these conversations scores of times! Remember the personal challenge I presented you with months ago when I requested that you provide career guidance for these poor uneducated Fleet Workers? And then you consequently failed to provide this information?

The most educated people in this country are getting replaced by foreign workers! Engineers... programmers... even X-ray techs! This is being accomplished with workers in countries such as India for a third of what the US counterparts were making!

So... let me issue the challenge to you yet once again! Please provide information to these workers, as to exactly which field they should educate themselves in. This education should be obtainable at reasonable cost, and be redeemable for a secure, pay consistent job, that is not subject to outsourcing... off shoring... or replacements by third party entities.

Please be concise and certain of your arguments... as these workers can ill afford to spend thousands of dollars and years of their time getting educated in a field that will disappear before they even graduate! Especially, since most are trying to raise families and send their own kids to collage!

Me... O-Man... Goodfellow...Dirt...‘n others down here will have ahh 'Old South' style backyard BBQ cook-out for yahh if your advice is heeded, and proven reliable! All yah need tahh bring is courage...we’ll provide the rest!

So lights tha grill...

2. We will only survive through power , that power will come from the union.

O man, Richard Block the arbitrator for the healthcare issue will be rulling any time. He is a little tardy with the rulling. The Attendance issue is continuing with an Arbitrator and date chosen shortly. The leadership including PDGC Delaney are meeting with corporate over multiple issues affecting the membership. This meeting and issues adressed will be comunicated to the membership in the next 2 weeks. Thanks for your patience GF

Roa ,
spot on brother. remember those times all so well . You could only get gas on certain days depending on the last number in your street address . I remember sitting in line for HOURS waiting to get
5 or 6 gallons of gas. Funny most of AMERICA STILL had some optimism that WE as a COUNTRY would survive this. and guess what we did. Unfortunately in todays world of " I want it now" mentality. the last 2 generations of AMERICANS don't know what sacrifice really means.
Glad to see you back ROA. Where you come up with what you come up with is beyond me. Keep up the good fight

Dave, OOOps I'm sorry Jester

Exactly what could you bring to a job out side of the supply room passing out wands. If it wasn't for your
boy Mendenhall to set you up with such a couch y job you and your broken back would have to
be out on that hot tarmac throwing bags. Funny I do believe a while back a more FIT and HEALTHY jester
spewing how much he enjoyed loading bags alone and he loved this job for the physical activity. But know
if you fart the wrong way you throw your back out.
REMEMBER ONE THING
"The truth shall set you Free"
come on jester come out of the supply room and back to the real world of loading airplanes. Gee I thought at
one time you despised John . Funny how Pancakes flip
