Maybe the United Spin Master should have rallied for the LCC/UAUA merger???
Personally, I don't think its over with yet. I can't offer any proof, but my instinct about ole DP tells me he's up to something. Ego don't you know.

Agreed, the pay on the 190 is entry level at best. and it doesn't get better. We were guaranteed group II or better, problem is, it didn't say we'd stay on it...... Hell it was a paycut even coming back to Grp II.

As AAA said, I don't think it's over either, Sept. is a far time away, and alot can happen between then and there. Elixer give me a PM, what were you flying inbetween mainline stints??? Might have some leads you can use, though out of the country.

If those were not my same thoughts; DP gives up his entire salary up for stock, UAL gives 1500 pilots walking papers making LLC now the same size airline. Our mgt. team seems all too comfortable. .............I smell a rat.

Time will tell..............

Because I could not find a fusapa yellow one.

Here it is...

It is interesting. UAL gives up 94 narrow bodies, I'll bet the bulk of them are used for feed to the international. I don't know anything about the demographics of UAL's route system but would wonder how they plan to fill their wide bodies. In the meantime, we are parking 10? Turn back 2 wide body leases and will finish out deliveries of the E190. Don't know about the AB's. Either way, there could be no objections now from anywhere on route system overlap. We should be able to even keep the shuttle. Just too many possibilities to cover all of them here.

So yea, I too "Smell a rat". It's the one playing in the sand box.

You know what cats do in sandboxes?

I think that if the economics of a merger were a little better, and money were available to do it, we would be in the middle of one right now. I look for some news on this as soon as the economy starts to perk up.

Maybe USAPA can buy the company with the money it gets from AWAPPA. Naa, the whole union owning the company thing never works out. Sucks when your company is also your union.

Elixir, don't give up. I've seen some pretty strange things happen on bids. Maybe you'll be alright. One just never knows....

It may actually be higher than 950. This article in the Chicago Tribune says they are sending furlough letters to 1450 pilots:

Well then. By one article, the 950 number, we tied (950-700 = 250, 1200-950 = 250). By the other, I hit the nail on the head (my estimate was 1200-1500).

Go ahead, spin away.
Well, well, well. We now have something official. And you're not going to like it "oldie." I told you to wait until the official news came out instead of relying on the media, who are notorious for blundering the details.

From UAL's employee communications:
Planned Reduction in Fleet by 100 Aircraft to Result in 950 Pilot Furloughs by Year-End 2009
Posted June 23, 2008

Today we announced initial details concerning the first wave of pilot furloughs resulting from our plans to take 100 aircraft from our mainline fleet due to record high oil prices and a softening U.S. economy. The first notices to furlough approximately 100 pilots for the flying month of September will be issued in mid-July.

By the end of 2009, when we expect to complete the full reduction of our 94 B737 aircraft and six B747s (see June 4 NewsReal), we anticipate the need to furlough approximately 950 active pilots. This process is one of the difficult but necessary steps we need to take to size our business appropriately to reflect the current market reality.

Due to the number of United pilots on military and personal leave, approximately 1450 furlough notices will be distributed over time in order to reduce our active pilot ranks by 950.

We currently are discussing with ALPA ways to reduce the number of involuntary furloughs, and we will communicate any agreements that result.

-----------------------------------------------------

So it looks like you were wrong. Again. As I predicted, the 1450 number accounts for inactive pilots. 950 is the starting point for active pilots BEFORE furlough mitigation like voluntary leaves, surplus reduction lines, early outs, etc. The number will only get smaller from there, breaking the "tie" you claimed above, and clearly bringing the final numbers closer to MY original estimate of 500-700. (Admittedly higher than I anticipated, but within a reasonable margin of error for an educated guess.) We could easily see over 100 voluntary leaves based on past experience after 9/11.

Your claim above of "hitting the nail on the head" was a bit premature and actually quite comical. You now have an opportunity to show some humility and integrity, or continue the spin. Your choice.
